Here's what I mean...
For sake of example,

Crosby, Stills & Nash - "Song With No Words"
Pink Floyd - "The Great Gig in the Sky"

*I know there's a lot more like these, but I can't think of them right now. And thus why I made the list.

Badass, lesser-known instrumental selections of mention are worth noting, too, but that's not what I'm trying to draw attention to with this list.

Metallica - Call Of Ktulu is awesome. One of my all time favorite grooves. Orion is great too. Didn't Iron Maiden have a song back in the 80's? Loss For Words or something like that? Can't remember exactly.

Instrumentals were never Maiden's forte. First few seconds sound okay, but it gets boring after a while. Glad they stopped it.

Does "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden count?

There are no words in the chorus.

I hate the "video game" synthesizer track on that song. The demo version on the Too Tough to Die remaster CD is much better.

You make me laugh, Satan. "Video game synthesizer."

There's just some bands who shouldn't attempt synth pop. The Ramones and Van Halen being the most obvious example.

Though at least Joey was still Joey and they never brought in some McDonald's clown reject to sing for them. http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/teufel/d040.gif

Yeah, Street Fighting Man turned out pretty well. So did their cover of the Stones' "Out of Time" on the Acid Eaters album. Brian Jones was impressed with both covers.
