http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/10/sarah-palin-american-law_n_569922.html

Sarah Palin joined Fox News's Bill O'Reilly recently to condemn the critics of the National Day of Prayer, saying that the Judeo-Christian belief was the basis for American law and should continue to be used as a guiding force for creating future legislation.

According to Palin, the recent backlash against the National Day of Prayer is proof that some people are trying to enact a "fundamental transformation of America" and to "revisit and rewrite history" in order to shift the Christian nation away from its spiritual roots.

Palins's advice: "Go back to what our founders and our founding documents meant -- they're quite clear -- that we would create law based on the God of the bible and the ten commandments.

"What in hell scares people about talking about America's foundation of faith?" Palin continued. "It is that world view that involves some people being afraid of being able to discuss our foundation, being able to discuss God in the public square, that's the only thing I can attribute it to."

Palin had also recently criticized the decision to dis-invite the Rev. Franklin Graham from a Pentagon prayer service over concerns about his past inflammatory rhetoric about Islam, saying it was driven by a desire to be overly politically correct.

Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814

"As the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen [Muslims] ... it is declared ... that no pretext arising from religious opinion shall ever product an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries....
"The United States is not a Christian nation any more than it is a Jewish or a Mohammedan nation."
-- Treaty of Tripoli (1797), carried unanimously by the Senate and signed into law by John Adams (the original language is by Joel Barlow, US Consul)

Strongly guarded as is the separation between Religion & Govt in the Constitution of the United States the danger of encroachment by Ecclesiastical Bodies may be illustrated by precedents already furnished in their short history.
-- James Madison, "Monopolies. Perpetuities. Corporations. Ecclesiastical Endowments," in Elizabeth Fleet, "Madison's Detatched Memoranda," William & Mary Quarterly, Third series: Vol. III, No. 4 (October, 1946) p. 555. The parenthetical note at the end, which lacks a closed parenthesis in Fleet, was apparently a note Madison made to himself regarding examples of improper encroachment to use when the "Detatched Memoranda" were edited and published, and seems to imply clearly that Madison supported taxing churches. Quoted from Ed and Michael Buckner, "Quotations that Support the Separation of State and Church."

Mmmmm.......

So, the past is some sort of template for the present - in such a model, history restricts the present rather than informing it.

Good going Sarah.

What about the 'freedom' bit - if people want to participate in a 'National Day of Prayer', they can; if they rather spend all day watching porn and listening to AC/DC, so be it.....

She's an idiot. Didn't watch the video but i'm sure Bill O Reilly owned her.I wouldn't bet money on it.
On the video in question, she pretty much owned Bill O'Really.

When she licks her lips @ 1:52, she pretty much owned me, and any other pervert that bothered to watch. My imagination, even as I post, is still in high gear.....I'm on heightened alert over here........
I lift her hair up....run my tongue up the back of her neck...it excites her....she arches her back and grinds her sexy-ass up against my junk.....I lay her down gently....dis-robe her.....and the rest of this you can see on Animal Planet...yada yada yada.

My fantasies of her notwithstanding.....she does have that certain something that absolutely irritates the cute little libs into wanting to bash her mercilessly......which prompts me to ask...

What is it exactly that you don't like about her? Does she irritate with her answers? or her mere presence?
In all fairness, I've asked alot of people around me, and they take more time trying to answer this question than I want to spend waiting around for the answer.

Does she really pose that much of a threat?? Really??

They won't...or can't.I understand that...especially given the Democrats way of debating things, which is...."we can't answer a question straight-on, so we talk around it, point the blame at everyone and everything else, and when all else fails we use our "Hey, look over there" deflective defense." LMAO!

Anyhow...what I'm really asking here, is........what is it about her that ignites such ire from people? I don't understand it at all......if she's not a threat (and I don't feel that she is), then why do they feel they need to bash her with such intensity and hatred?? It's fucking weird to me...

That intensity and hatred would go alot farther if they actually directed it towards the soul-less fuckwads who put us in our current disposition. Sarah Palin?? really?? C'mon!

When she had a chance at being VP or was looking like a 2012 candidate, I was a Palin basher.........

Why, because she is clueless, a zealot, and I know nothing about the Puppet Masters who are truly telling her what to say and who would, if she was elected, tell her what to do.

My ire towards her has completely diminished........she's no longer a threat and her handlers know she has zero chance at the Presidency. So for me, she is fading into obscurity!

Palin was so 2009, IMO!

The thing that completely baffles me about the Palin fad was........looking at it objectively, after listening to her speak and the words that were coming out of her mouth, how could anyone take her seriously.

I think it must be that when politicians speak a lot of peoples brains just shut down. Like the teacher in Charlie Brown all they hear is Wahwahwahwah. When Palin just puts random phrases together which have nothing to do with a question or even a clear stream of thought it didn't matter because they weren't listening. Like a bunch of cuntstruck teenage boys in a class with a hot teacher their little brains had long since departed.

These people should really be found to be incapacitated and so unable to vote as they aren't capable of forming an opinion.

The bizarre thing about it is it's not that difficult for even these people to find porn on the internet so why do they need a politician to jerk off over?

Up yours, scientists.

That's essentially the message sent by former politician Sarah Palin during a recent speech to the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, where she disparaged the work of thousands of the world's top minds to the delight of a large crowd that laughed, clapped and cheered her on the whole way.

She was addressing the increasingly urgent matter of global climate change when Palin whipped out a gem of a quote, telling the conference-goers that American does not need "this snake oil science stuff"

http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0410/palin-this-snake-oil-science-stuff/

There you go. I was looking for a better direct quote, but this will do for 7AM. Anyone who speaks into an electrified microphone and decries scientists is a fucking retard in my opinion. And this is not the only time she's bashed science like it's the fucking 19th century.

Show me where "separation of church and state" is settled law.

I'll go one better...who coined the phrase "separation of church and state?" I'll give you a hint...it was in a letter to the Danbury Baptists.

Then show me the law that rose from it.

The founding fathers wanted to avoid having a state religion seeing the problems it caused in other countries. They wanted to have every check and balance on power possible but yet still have a functioning government. A separation between church and state was one of their checks on power. They didn't want religion to become politicized to the point where it started to take freedoms and rights away. They didn't want a theocracy and look at the world today. Name one theocracy on the planet you would like to live in.

One reason I refuse to belong to any organized religion. I can't stand the hypocrisy in them all. If you read the New Testament, Jesus main enemy is the organized religion at the time. It was the religious right at the time that told Pontius Pilot to crucify him, so the bible shows the hyprocracy very well.

No "substantial rebuttal"? Are you kidding me? Glad to see you still keep up with the same bag of tricks BBB. Sidestep one point, make a specious argument against the next, insult the next one while crying about insults, all while proclaiming your righteousness. I feel like it's 2004 all over again!

Maybe you missed how I pointed out the hypocrisy of the modern day politician trying to ramp up the Southern Baptist crowd by jeering the evil scientists. Meanwhile science has granted her and the rest of us all the modern conveniences we enjoy today. She's trying to label scientists as some sort of evil opposite of the religious right and their creationism nonsense. Does this really need explaining? How could anyone possibly support such bullshit?

While I wouldn't classify myself as a democrat, I'll tell you why I'm scared of her. She's crazy and stupid! If she had any real power she could do some real damage. She strikes me as very similar to gw in terms of low levels of intellectual curiosity mixed with a hearty enjoyment of abuse of power. Any reasonable person would be leery of her getting any serious political power again. She couldn't even be trusted to be the Governor of Alaska! She quit when the lawsuits piled up and she saw the book and speaking money lining up!

Why do Democrats fear her?

i don’t fear her at all. i fear the people that put aside all reason and logic and follow her blindly.

it’s not as if there aren’t idiot liberals/democrats out there. but for whatever reason, they don’t generate the same kind of followers.

and you want to talk stupid? look, i’m not going to take the time to pick apart every speech palin’s given. frankly, i don’t have that kind of time, and i don’t think my brain could handle that much drivel.

but how’s about this one? palin speaks to the NRA crowd and says that the obama and the democrats would take away damn near every gun right if they weren’t so afraid of the midterms.

she’s either naïve/stupid, or she’s pandering to the naïve/stupid.

the democrats held the white house, filibuster proof senate, and a large majority in the house. and, as always, the polls all show that the majority of Americans support sensible gun control. how many anti-gun bills were pushed through? but i'm to believe it's gun control they're afraid of? no.

afraid of the midterms? really? so that’s why the house passed an energy bill, because they were afraid of the midterms? and hell, every republican, INCLUDING palin has said that the democrats will suffer during the midterms for the health care bill. so apparently, the democrats weren’t afraid there.

look, listening to palin’s debate and interviews during the 2008 campaign made it crystal clear that she is not that intelligent. just because somebody might like her rah-rah America chants, or agree with a particular point, does not mean she’s smart.

that said, i will give her this, she’s either very lucky, or at least very PR savvy in playing down to her base.

but anybody who wants president palin in 2012 is definitely not smart. and i’m talking U.S. president, homeowner’s association president, president of the obama sucks society, whatever. if you support sarah palin for president of anything, you’ve got the dumb.

Maybe a movie with someone who can help you write a review?

So we're back to your psychological quirk where you need to believe I'm worse off than you are? .

You need to stop being so insecure. I dont believe that.

I just know what I've read here. We certainly lead different lives.

I have a wife, kids, and work in the music business.

Your work is in engineering of some sort, you lunch with ex-CIA directors, and go to movies with zombies and boobs.

I love my life. Obviously I can't speak for you, but I'm sure you're happy too.

You think you're smarter and superior to everyone here, I just think I'm funnier than everyone here. [except for Craig and Sesh]

Well, I've been married more than 10 years, never divorced. Do you know the percentage of second marriages that end in divorce? At least you have something to look forward to.

And my reviews? Well, I'm not even going to dignify that with a response. People love my reviews, and you seek them out.

As usual, there is no substantial rebuttal to a Sarah Palin speech...only insults to out-of-context quotes.

Why do Democrats fear her?

Serious-minded democrats shouldn't fear her.

The apprehension was rightfully there when she could have possibly been a heartbeat away, and it's midly disconcerting that the vote (despite a substantial gap) was as close as it was.

All of that has evaporated into the past-tense, much like Palin's political future. Should it be surprising that Palin said what she did, and said it on Fox? Seems totally in concert with what she believes and, in that regard, is no way shocking. She has a right to express her religious views, just as every American does. Where I become uncomfortable is when said religious views are explicitly used as the basis of political policies that affect all of us. A case can be made that tenents of the bible are used as the basis for fairness in laws. What is bothersome to me about Palin and those who share her beliefs is they somehow form the equation that Christianity = Conservatism = Republicanism = Patriotism = "More American Than Those Who Don't Vote The Way We Do" as an answer to virtually every contentious issue.

Palin should re-read the "separation of church and state" bit and STFU.

I would bet you have evidence to the contrary in your back pocket.

John Locke argued that people should use individual conscience without influence from the government. In other words, the state can't have a right to tell you what your individual conscience should dictate in certain matters. This, in a nutshell, is what "separation of church and state" means. Just because a dollar bill says "In God We Trust" does NOT mean that the government and the church run hand in hand or SHOULD run hand in hand with each other. It's not an endorsement of a specific religion.

As far as Sarah Palin is concerned, and anybody else who thinks the U.S. was founded on an overwhelming emphasis of Christianity and religion, I think they needs a review of the Treaty of Tripoli...as well as a review of many other historical events. It is quite specific that the U.S. is (and should remain) religiously NEUTRAL.

Of course it was founded on some religious beliefs. We weren't all that far removed from the dark ages, as it were, and that is what it is. No denying that. But the Treaty of Tripoli pretty much removed all doubt as to what the go-ahead plan was for religion and state, and that was drafted by who again? Oh yeah - Washington's administration.

He's her favorite founding father, right?

"In God We Trust"? Fine. Maybe to somebody God's Allah. Or Zeus. Or a shoe. As long as it doesn't say "In the God of the King James version and His only begotten son Jesus Christ we trust", then there's no explicit endorsement of any particular religion, and THAT is what Sarah Palin is hoping to prove by saying "American Law Should Be Based On The God Of The Bible And The Ten Commandments".

Hey, if we go to that extreme...when do we start offering up animal sacrifices and stoning people to death for minimalist crimes?

Good God. What an ignorant bitch.

I get your point, but it is an endorsement of religion in general. Atheists, druids, etc... don't have a "God". For the record, I'm not against it being on the money. I was just pointing it out.

You can't say the N-word!
You can't post dick pics!

However.....lowlife humor like the comic strip I quoted is not only accepted, but judging by the "Thank Yous" this twink got from posting this.....it's met with thunderous applause!

Think about that the next time you question whether or not you want to post something but speculate that it may be too low-class or not. As long as you adhere to the 2 rules this place has,,,,,then I guess it's O.K.

Enjoy your liberties, and fire away!......I know damn well that I will!

My point was his post was incorrect in stating 1957 as the start date of the saying being on US currency.

Have one what? Morgan dollars? I have a bunch of them right now. Much cooler looking than the Peace Dollars that followed, but I have some of those too. You can get them at almost any coin/pawn/used jewelry shop, and there are tons on eBay. Cheap too. I pick one up whenever I get a chance to give away in birthday cards.
