Big oil companies like BP over insure their operations to where if there is a disaster, they will still make money. They do this while they cut every corner possible on operations. $500,000 worth of safety equipment probably would have eliminated the well blowout. Other countries require this equipment but in the corporate controlled US, we are like a third world country to where big corporations can do whatever they want.
