LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―

Actress Rue McClanahan, best known for role as "Blanche Devereaux" on the hit series "Golden Girls," died early Thursday morning after suffering a massive stroke, CBS station WCBS-TV in New York City has confirmed. She was 76.

McClanahan died at 1 a.m. with her family by her bedside.

Rest in peace, Rue.

The Golden Girls is one of my top ten favorite shows. The acting talent and the writing/directing on that show was just stellar.

I remember sending hundreds of fan letters to Rue McGlandMyHands, back in the late 70's.

She ended up paying me to stop.
