Am I the only person between the ages of 25 and 45 that hasn't seen the film The Goonies? I've noticed it's on tonight, and feel sort of awkward because I hear references to the film people make and I really don't know what they're talking about. I mean, I've seen Red Dawn and all of the 80's teen comedies. But why not the Goonies for fuck sake!? Why do things like this keep me up at night?

:(

Watch it!!!

This dude named Chunk, I think, runs a one man train on these two highschool sluts deep in a cave.

I didn't like it when I was a child so I dunno? Pretty dumb flick. I seem to remember liking Cyndi Lauper's theme song though? She's kewl.

It was on the other evening as well, and the one thing that struck me about the movie both then and now (which I'd actually forgotten) is how frickin' LOUD that flick is. If you are into kids shrieking at the top of their lungs for around an hour and a half, then be my guest.

I love the old lady in The Goonies, RIP, because she plays a great nasty old woman. It's post-stroke for her but she does her part just right anyway.

I just saw it for the first time a few weeks ago.

A 80s movie like Gremlins looks like high art after seeing this.

I drove down with the brats and broad to Astoria a few years back and we did the whole Kindergarten Cop/Goonies/TMNT 3 tour. The annual Goonies festival is going on this weekend. I was thinking about going, but it's actually kinda depressing to watch Chunk. He's so lonely.

Nope. Never seen it. Is there any Goonie-Fu in it?

All good movies have some kinda "Fu". Or breatsages.

The missus LOVES that fucking Goonies movie.

It looked pretty gay back in the day, thus I didn't bother to see it then. She implored me to watch it with her when it was on telly recently. Saw about 10 minutes or so, decided it in fact WAS pretty gay and left the room.

Not quite sure what that says about the movie...then again, back in the day while all my classmates were going to see ET 10 billion times, I was sneaking in the theater to see Blade Runner instead...never saw ET, never saw the Goonies and haven't regretted either choice.

Not every film Speilberg had a hand in was some sacred nugget, box-office grosses notwithstanding.

Great movie. Remember going to see it in the theater as a kid.

I still like it. Supposedly, there's a scene with a gigantic octopus, but it got left on the editing room floor.

And it has Joey Pants in it.

There is... I've seen the uncut version. If you pay attention, towards the end of the movie when the kids are coming back from the cave, Chunk mentions something about it...

this was a good kid flick in its day, way better than the garbage they put out for tweens these days.

I remember my mom took me to this and I had somehow not seen any previews. Maybe the only movie I ever went into totally blind. I kept waiting for the goonies to jump out and start killing people. And they never did.

I downloaded it and tried to watch it last week, but got bored as fuck and turned it off. Oh well. One thing that impressed me, though, was little Cory Feldman's acting. He was as talented kid.

Personally, I prefer the NES game...
