The Phoenix area is setting weather records that make most Valley residents groan.

On Monday, Phoenix set a record high for the daily low for July 19. The warmest low temperature had been 91 for July 19 in 2005, 2006 and 2009, but Monday the temperature only dropped to a low of 94 degrees.

Forecast

That low was hotter than the daytime high temperatures of cities such as Flagstaff, Miami, San Diego, Houston, and Chicago, according to the National Weather Service.

This was the fifth time this month that a daily record high minimum was set, and the third time this year that the temperature only fell to 94, the highest minimum temperature for 2010. The low was 94 last Thursday and Friday as well.

It's been over 90 degrees every day here for over a month now... And only yesterday was there a measurable rainfall, which felt great....

That sucks dude. I live in CA near Riverside, and we just had four days of about 105-110 temps. Close to 115 one day. Never got below 85 at night. That just sucks. I can handle sleeping & being inside with the AC set in the low 80's and a fan on. Can't afford to keep it lower than that, but I sure hear the neighbors AC cranking all day & night. I'd rather sweat a bit than have a $700 electric bill.

Speaking of...if air conditioning had never been invented, would Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas be cities at all?

I prefer cold over heat when talking of excessive amounts. With cold you can keep bundling up more & more. With hot you can only get so naked.

I was in UT a couple of weeks ago and it was 105. BUT, it was more comfy there at 105 than it is here at 85. Fucking humidity!! :fufu:

I have my AC runnin 24/7.

In the winter I pay $350/month for oil heat, in the summer I pay $350/month for electricity. :umm:

This is why I love spring and fall!!

Been in the 90s here almost every day since May.

Friend of mine in Austin, Texas told me yesterday that they have been over 100 for 70 days this year so far.

Maybe he meant last year. That streak set a record, but this year it hasn't been that bad. I don't think we've broke 100 yet, but if you figure in the 70% relative humidity, the heat index places the temp at around 110 deg F almost every day for the last month or so.

With that level of humidity it's fucking miserable here. I hope it's a different story in Gnashville.

Yep, we haven't broke a 100 here, yet, either, but it's been humid as fuck and the heat index has been in the 100-105 range. The profession I'm in demands that I work outside in this torturous, humid heat, which is why I fucking hate summer! I hate winter, too, but I can tolerate the cold better than I can the heat. Luckily, my electric bill hasn't been more than 50 something dollars thus far, but I don't keep the ac running all the time, either. I set the timer on the ac to come on about 2 hours before I get home from work, and I'll run the ac in my room at night. The rest of the time I leave it off.

The best part about hot days like these - are the hot nights. Can't sleep? Get on that Harley at 3am under a full moon and have the freeways to yourself...and fuckin OPEN IT UP.

Just out of curiosity, Pete's Bro, what made you decide to move from Wisconsin to the hot desert?

Do you towel down strippers after their show?

In other news, it's been raining here for a week and hasn't broke 65.

A friend of mine left the Cape and moved to Tombstone, way out in the desert. He loves it, I think (know actually) he's nuts. But it had more to do with a change of scenery than anything...

I went to go pick up another car near Carson today, and the battery goes dead, okay? So I'm pushing this 5000 lbs. beemer down Redondo Beach Blvd. in 100 degree heat, it was a bitch.

I think I had two heart attacks and died like, well like a dead fucker who's been pushing BMW's around in the heat, with rude people flipping the bird shouting and honking for backing up traffic.

I get back onto PCH after charging the battery, made it back, and now the thermometer on the porch reads "77*F." Like it does normally between the hours of 7am - 1am.

My electric bill is less than $25 normally..

Very, very hot here recently. Especially yesterday. Today got a hug thunderstorm and now it's down to only rain and the temp has dropped.

Not used to electric bills like this unless it's Christmas light season. Thought we were too far north to be in the 90's for 2 months and crack 100 once or twice. The Buffalo chick is kinda loving it, kinda not.

I love living in Florida, where virtually every house and every place you go has central air.

Hearing about poor bastards trying to beat the heat with one window A/C unit in one room for the whole house...don't know if I should laugh or weep...

Mmmmm. A perfect 75 degree day inside my nice, cool house.

Suckers!:tongue0011:
