Much has been made of Michael Schenker being a drunk, mental case but he's always been one of my favorite guitarists. When he's on he's untouchable.

Really early version of Rock Bottom here. So early that Phil hadn't even written the lyrics yet, and what he's singing here sounds at times like a bastard son of Highway Star......

If you had only checked that video against embedding/disabled we'd see that.

Amazingly enough, that's the Jimi Hendrix flying V. It became "missing" and was subsequently painted black - it's a mid-60's V and the serial number matches exact, but back then without the internet turning it up, it slept in its' case in a London repair shop for 11 years after it was stolen again, from Schenker. It's not seen with him after 1975 and even he doesn't recall the story of acquisition, or so he says, discouraging any talk of it although he's a really nice gent when you meet him he won't talk about that guitar.

The 66 thru 68 Gibsons are just fantastic when rebuilt, the long neck tenons usually fuck up and require resetting, and are almost always found in busted-up condition. There was one recently on Ebay right now listed under $9000 I had my eye on from an LA seller, but it's a refin/reset with wrong parts that seems to be delisted..

This black Schenker V in the video was rebuilt, then refinished the way Hendrix had decorated in fingernail-polish swirls - for whatever reason. I would have just left it a black refinish... who wants the unoriginal artwork replacing the original that was lost?

I saw Schenker w/ Gary Barden last year in Hollywood and he was spot on, mostly played material from first 2 MSG albums + brand new stuff w/ Barden and old UFO for encore. No McAuley-Schenker crap.

WTF "occasionally"? I wouldn't fire him for that, but I'd instruct my tech to chain him to the rear bumper of the bus naked for doing that in front of me if he tried to get funny on me.

He used to be one of my favorites, now I know why he'll never be invited to any classic reunion. Who can work with a loose cannon like that!

Graham Bonnet love him or hate him. Some people swear he's the best vocalist of all time, and think his Rainbow/MSG/Alcatrazz albums were career high points for each guitarist involved. I never cared for his voice or his look.
