It's a Real Les Paul and Flying-V! Epiphone is famous for their high-quality and affordable guitars. And now, they've taken these same famous designs and turned them into half size guitars that are perfect for smaller players or as travel guitars. Each guitar features a full-size neck width so they play just like a regular guitar. They're also equipped with an Epiphone 700T humbucking pickup for real rock tone without the noise associated with single-coil pickups. Add to that, 21 medium-jumbo frets, a Rosewood fingerboard, an adjustable bridge and deluxe 14:1 ratio covered tuners and you've got a guitar that will keep you rockin' for years to come.

Unreal. The Flying V is a repainted model that was available at Big Lots for the close out price of around $59.00 last year at Christmas time. At that time, it was sold under the Maestro brand. I can not find a reference at the Big Lots site, as the model is no longer offered there, yet here is an image from then...

Considering the dubious nature of goods that Ed has dumped on the market in the past few years, it isn't that much of a stretch to imagine a VH kiosk at Wal Mart, complete with all of the EVH straps, picks, electronic doodads, albums and yes, tennis shoes in a convenient one-stop-shopping section. Hell, KISS did the same thing while promoting their last album, so why not?

What is more un-rockandroll than Wal-mart. I remember riding my Schwinn Stingray to a local record shop in the 1970's to lay down my paper route money for KISS' Rock and Roll Over. The Record store was locally owned, smelled of incense and had all sorts of drug paraphanalia for sale under the cash register counter with a stoned hippy running the register. Now that's rock and roll.

I can see the striped VH kiosk now. Wal Mart or Target. KI$$ has been pumping Paul Stanley's picks and cheap ass guitars at Target for a while now.

It all goes to shit as soon as they get sober. Sobriety is the death nail of many guitarists. The smart ones choke to death on their own vomit before they fuck up their legacy with sobriety.

Who's 100, and still dressing up in the schoolboy outfit? AC/DC is sort of timeless though...much like CVH.

Plus while I could see one of those for a 5 or 6 year old, even at age 8 they're going to outgrow a "mini' guitar in minutes...

Coincidentally, a longtime friend called tonight and asked whether to get his 8 yr old a "mini" or a full-sized guitar...recommended he go full-size. If the kid sticks with it, he may not have to replace it as quickly...I mean, I don't even have kids and can kinda see an 8 or 9 year old going "Um, can I have a real guitar now?" a year after getting one of those... :hee:

BUT if they're affordable and playable, there is the "you can play 'Little Guitars' on it" aspect... :killer:

I have the Les Paul Pee Wee, but not the Flying V. Haven't been able to find one cheap enough yet. Missed out on the Big Lots $59. Dang. They are so fun for noodling around with when watching TV or something.

Here is an older thread we had going talking about minis. I was surprised that a lot of the posters here have & enjoy them.
