You can't beat the devil with a weak candidate.

Plenty of people were ready to see Harry Reid go but the lesson of this election is you can't beat the devil with a weak candidate. Just because the person in power sucks donkey balls you can't get them out of office with a person who does not win the confidence of the average voter. I would say the biggest challenge for the Republicans and the so called Tea party is to find good candidates to run. Without them, it will be business as usual.

I knew I recognised his name from somewhere else, he's the dodgy politician from the movie Casino.

He's a crook so why not just run a decent Republican against him?

Looking at wikki he used to be the Chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee???

You couldn't make this shit up...

Republican Party was supposed to be the party of no more bullshit.

Now that the old boy network is almost nearly all retired, there's a vaccuum just because they've failed bigtime to groom younger generations to assume position when they leave - selfishly IMO to protect themeselves from competitors.

The Dems do this too, thats why you got an old crust like Reid still going. It sucks because the voters were poised to take anything-BUT a Dem but we're still stuck with Boxer and Reid, two of the worst Dems to have in there.

Believing that was your first mistake. Of many.

that's funny...i thought sharon angle was the devil.

mind you, i'm no fan of harry reid's. as a generally democratic supporter, i would've been ok to see him lose to a reasonable candiate. but given a choice between the two, it's a good thing for the country that reid beat angle.

And it would be an even better thing for the country if he declined the nomination for another term as Majority Leader.

Now more than ever, we need one with a spine. One who knows the first job is to get rid of this lie that it "takes 60 votes" to pass anything.

Sadly, my favored candidate for that job was Russ Feingold. Maybe Barbara Boxer can do it?

Pro-life supporters are proven by the poll to be equally-distributed, even in Vegas.

What lost her the spot IMO is how her prior comments of "I agree with and would support privatization of Social Security" from the Bush years. Had she addressed that with clarification, she'd be celebrating.

By not doing exactly that, think how you'd feel as a Senior Citizen paying in all these years? You'd think you're gonna get fucked if she got into office right?

Not just a small few but alot of Los Angeles area people sold off their houses during the bubble years 2002-2007, took that big money grab and moved to Vegas to retire, it's got a large retirement community and Reids' screaming ads of "she's gonna take your retirement check" is like shouting fire a crowded theater.

No doubt in my mind they tinkered with the voting screens by a certain percentage, but when you piss off the Seniors they probably backed off once they saw her percentage taper off - no wonder Angle conceded so quickly!

Are you kidding - 1 billion in Mob money to keep his and other Dem's seats - nononono.. he's there to do one thing: pull ballots for the Mob.

Defiance earns you a bullet - that's the RFK lesson. His job is to "build concensus" that is, twist his parties' arm, I know it like the sun will rise in the morning that he'll keep his status and you know that too.

My dad did a lot of contract work in Vegas when I was a kid. He flew his own plane and I can remember flying down there a lot. The old Vegas was a weird combination of Mobsters, mob associates, Jews, and Mormons who ran the casino operations. I remember he would always bring a big Hebrew National salami and rye bread home. My mom was friends with the actress Terri Moore (who married Howard Hughes) and knew several people who worked for Howard Hughes (The Mormon mafia). My parents were in that whole Mormon Las Vegas connection and that is how my dad got work down there. Vegas is much different now. My dad can tell lot's of interesting stories.

I've had older members of my family say 'But if you don't send the kids to Sunday School, where will they get their sense of morality from?'

Sunday was for church, Monday for hosing the blood and hair off the vice in the back room of the casino...
