According to The Windsor Star, POISON singer Bret Michaels announced during last night's (Saturday, November 13) solo concert at Caesars Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada that POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE will celebrate their 25th and 30th anniversaries, respectively, in 2011 by joining forces for a tour. No further information is currently available.

In a February 2004 online posting, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx shot down reports that his then-band BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION would be touring later that year with POISON and KISS. "No way in fucking hell would we (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION or MÖTLEY CRÜE) ever, ever tour with a fucking band like POISON," he wrote. "We have had talks with KISS and I told them very clearly that we would not do the tour if they used POISON. That would be the death of us... I will not be attached to that kind of fake bullshit..." When questioned about his comments in a May 2004 interview with the Stamford Advocate, Sixx explained, "I was in negotiations and said it depends who else is on the tour. If you're going to do a nostalgia thing, we're not interested. If you go get JET or THE DARKNESS, it sounds like fun. All of a sudden they come back with KISS, the BRIDES and POISON! There ain't no way in hell I'm doing that tour. I will not play with fucking POISON. There are followers and leaders. I'm not into followers."

During a July 2005 interview with the Fox 2 TV network, Sixx famously closed out the four-minute chat by calling the interviewer "an asshole" after he was asked the question, "Who rocked harder in the '80s: MÖTLEY CRÜE or POISON?"
When POISON drummer Rikki Rockett was questioned in an August 2006 interview with DelcoTimes.com about Sixx being abrasively vocal in his displeasure about being categorized alongside POISON, Rikki replied, "Nikki really needs to get over it. I don't think a forty-something-year-old man should be acting like that; you'd think with all that Nikki has been through, he wouldn't care about these dumb little rivalries."

This would be a great show

Vince Neil should be in Poison. He sold out and lost his balls. Nikki should ban Neil from the Crue.

Uhm....he did that once and it nearly killed Motley Crue. It ain't Crue without Vince Neil. Love him or hate him...he is the only one who should be fronting that band.

You mean chicks that were hot. Those super smoking hot 80's rocker chicks have for the most part been rode hard & put away wet.

This is coming from the NOT FAKE MÖTLEY CRÜE.

The band with the invisible extra rhythm guitarist who you can hear during solos, the band with the mysterious voices that appear to help sing their choruses. The band who only tour during gaps from the endless reality shows.

As lame as the ice skating thing is, I must say Vince looks pretty healthy. Lost some weight. Man, when he was touring with Crue about a decade ago, dude was really heavy. Good to see him shaped up a bit.

MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has shot down reports that his band will team up with POISON for a 2011 tour.

At least Motley Crue put out two decent albums (Too Fast For Love & Shout At The Devil) during their career, regardless of where the band is at today...their last album was much better than I expected as well.

Poison...have just never had any use for them from the moment I first heard them. C.C. DeVille seems like he would be a goof to hang out with...that's about the only positive thing I can say regarding anything Poison-related. I can think of several bands from the 1980s who would draw a decent amount of MILFS and play music I could tolerate for an evening, but no amount of babes in the audience could get me to shell out the money for a Poison ticket.

I had a BBC live recording of them at their peak at Donnington in 1990 and they just couldn't really play.

Just checked on YouTube and here it is.

That's just not good enough.

You can imagine what their more 'complex' 2nd album stuff sounded like.

To me Poison had about a weeks worth of charm when they first came out because I thought that maybe they were a punk band but it quickly turned out that they were the product of nothing more than image, perfect timing, luck and Michael Wagner managing to tweak basically a demo by a mediocre bar band into an album in post production. Even at the time they were the whipping boys of 80s rock.

The thing that would annoy me most going to see them now though is that I bet they would sound a lot better because they will have backing tapes all over the place. If any band is going to take advantage of the Milli Vanillisation of rock it's gonna be them.

Over the years, Brett has done a superb job of making the media and people believe his band was much larger than it really was in the 80's early 90's. Revisionist history at it's finest. I was there. I lived through it. They weren't that big. Opening act all the way. And no one I knew actually liked them.

They were lumped in with Warrant, Bullet Boys, Winger, Kix, Slaughter, etc... All those bands were the opening act farm team for the likes of Crue, Leppard, Ratt, Ozzy, Scorps, etc... The only reason all those crappy bands got famous to begin with was they had an attractive lead singer. I mean, how far did Autograph & Krokus get? Looks were getting record deals. Plain & simple.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to play "Spot The Riff" with Poison. Ever notice how the opening and chorus of "Talk Dirty To Me" sound identical to Cheap Trick's "She's Tight"? And of course, "Unskinny Bop" was lifted lock, stock and barrel from Lynyrd Skynyrd's "I Know A Little".

I saw them in the 80's open for Ratt. (I think since Ratt has opened for them). Ratt was at the very pinnacle of their popularity and absolutely destroyed the Sports Arena. Fucking awesome show. Poison was okay. Not bad, but not any threat to the headliner either. They did get booed because they were recording Every Rose & played it 3 times in a row. Brett kept saying "We're recording this live for you guys so we wanna nail it. You guys don't mind if we do it again, right!" That was kinda bushleague.

But as a supporting act for the bigger metal bands from that era, Poison are terrific. I just don't view their catalogue as something you can base an arena headlining tour on. Headlining smaller theaters & clubs sure. But in the big shows, I just don't think they are top billing quality.

I'll talk about a band I don't like, but I never rip on fans who happen to like that band. Everyones ear is different and whatever floats your boat I say. Poison just ain't for me.

On a positive note...Poisons videos were good background fodder during our weekend keggers & playing quarters. We'd be packed at that circular glass table with about 10 people (it only really was supposed to seat 4). Play quarters all night with MTV on in the background & Dee Snider narrating. Those parties are actually my only exposure to a lot of bands like Kix & Slaughter.

I considered all those bands bad Van Halen imitation bands. The lead singers were all trying to do the Roth. I'm sure the record companies trying to milk every cent they could out of the glam rock thing fueled it. In never had much interest.
