That was essentially my point. For some odd reason, upon meeting a new guy in a social or work situation, hearing the name and finding out where he's from, it's human nature to make some instant assumptions. This extends to the internet as well. Immediately, nine times out of ten people will say something along the lines of "Oh, you are from ______. Do you know such and such?" The odds on the person knowing the aquantance are astronomical, but people still ask the question.

Then again, the direct reverse is true. For instance, over the past decade it has been my privilege to get to know a handful of folks that at one time just happened to live in my immediate area, give or take roughly 30 miles. We have been to so many of the same events, and have shared so many identical experiences that even though we have never met, the coincidences add up, leading us to believe that we simply must have stood in the same line while getting beer at one of these events.

So like I said, it's mere human nature that drives people to make assumptions, and is also why first impressions are lasting ones. The dark side to that is everyone here has had at least one awkward experience on the net, and as a result there is nothing wrong with a healthy dose of skepticism when encountering new members. So welcome to the site, and as I said earlier you might wish to come up with another favorite VH/DLR song. Just sayin', it would go a long way toward removing some of the doubt in some people's minds about your intent around here.

(who came up with and follow the tradition of "Black Friday")

which is the total ruination of the Thanksgiving tradition as we know it.

I work for the company who, in my area is the first one to open their doors for Black Friday shopping....
that being at 10PM tonight

must say that the sheer numbers of people out there shopping on Black Friday (considering our *cough* failing economy)....were astounding....

2-3 hour waits during a good part of the night at our place....and had reached last years totals by 5AM.....(with the rest of the day and the more "normal" shoppers shopping in regular shopping hours yet to be counted...lol

and me...as the days are starting to run together and the inside of my workplace becomes as familiar as my home.....
am more than ready for the Christmas season to be over and done....

2-3 hour waits during a good part of the night at our place....and had reached last years totals by 5AM.....(with the rest of the day and the more "normal" shoppers shopping in regular shopping hours yet to be counted...lol

and me...as the days are starting to run together and the inside of my workplace becomes as familiar as my home.....
am more than ready for the Christmas season to be over and done....

As a result, the hapless management would be screaming at you to fill everything in sight, even though you more often than not had a crew of three people doing the work.

You are either cut out for retail or not, as there simply isn't any middle ground. I was not, and I do not miss it in the least. Nor do I miss the idiots I had to work under, all of whom were as distressed by their so-called superiors as I was.

Yep, been there, done that, threw away the T-shirt. The most moronic system ever devised for stocking a store. It would be absolutely imperative to get the merchandise on the shelves, but "Oh, by the way...hang all of these banners and signs for the sale this weekend." No matter how much product you put out, it was never enough. And after you had punched out, waiting for the morning manager to show up and let you out, some of these pricks would arrive and demand you to stay until they had walked the store to inspect your work.

And God forbid should you be approaching 40 hours. To keep you from going over, you would be required to punch out at a certain time in the shift, even if it was 3AM. And since you were locked in over night, no one from management was coming to let you out until 6AM, so you had to sit there for three hours doing nothing.

I'm glad I got out when I did.

I was ready for the Christmas season to be over two months ago when I started seeing Christmas commercials on tv and Christmas items in the stores. :pullinghair:

Then they start playing the godawful Christmas music in the stores after turkey day, which I'm considering wearing ear plugs when I go out shopping in the future.

too old to tolerate some of their games, so they don't try....but youre right...god forbid that you should get 40 hours a week (except during Black Friday...and then,,,no HOLIDAY pay)
