Malin Akerman to Replace Lindsay Lohan in 'Inferno'

It didn't take long for Lindsay Lohan's replacement for the Linda Lovelace biopic, Inferno, to be announced.

"We are casting Malin Akerman for the role of Linda Lovelace," director Matthew Wilder tells E! News. "We are currently in negotiations and working out the legalities of bringing her on board."

On Saturday, Wilder announced his decision to move away from Lohan in the lead part. Ultimately, the director said the issue came down to "the impossibility" of insuring the troubled actress "and some other issues."

With Akerman in the part, Wilder believes the stalled project will get back on track with plans to shoot in the first quarter of 2011.

Lohan has been in and out of jail and rehab over the past year and is currently living at a sober living facility in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

"We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support," Wilder said.

It is my sworn duty to post a nakie pic - this from the film Harold & Kumar movie.
Posting just a link for those at work

Damn, this is sad news. Lindsey could have brought so much experience and insight to the role. :blow:

Maybe Lindsey didn't know how to do that? I thought she played for the other team? :eatit:

The problem with a Linda Lovelace bio-pic done by a major studio is that no Linda Lovelace bio-pic is going to be complete unless is shows her gulping the salami.
If the producers and studio honchos fuck around and try to make it an R-rated film, it will not be historically accurate. They must at the very least release an unrated, unedited film where the actress portraying Linda is going down to the roots.

Only thing is, they are announcing her as Lindsey's replacement. Have they given her an audition to see if she can go all the way down?

One thing is certain....I think Malin is WAY hotter than Lindsey.

I am just disappointed, as I wanted Lindsey to continue on her career journey as she attempts to be the next Great American Slut. :hee:

There is a great deal more to it than that. Lovelace's story is an indictment about the insidious nature of the porn industry, particularly in the seventies as it rose to become what is essentially mainstream entertainment today. The woman was used and degraded beyond belief, to the extent of being hypnotized and severely beaten in order to complete the act. There is also the disgusting episode that saw her being reduced to having sex with a dog. That the woman managed to survive this is supposed to be grounds for a belief in female empowerment, which is (pardon the pun) a bit hard to swallow. For one thing, Lovelace never mentioned anything about being exploited until she wrote the best selling book Ordeal in the early eighties. Even then, no one on the set of Deep Throat would come forward to verify her various claims. If anything, her story was categorically denied by witnesses, many of whom were still working in the industry and were therefor unlikely to bite the hand that fed them.

So you are more or less left wondering how or why this film is being made, other than to further exploit a woman who died in 2002 and is no longer around to attempt to defend herself.

Lovelace had a curious post-porn career, at one point (early-mid 1980s) appearing alongside feminist icons such as Gloria Steinem on various television shows and claiming she was forced, sometimes at gunpoint, to make the porn she did. A decade or so after that, she (apparently tapped out financially) was posing for spreads in porn mags and appearing at porn conventions to sell signed LL photos.

There are, in addition to the books Ordeal and Out Of Bondage, several documentaries that chronicle the behind-the-scenes story of the movie Deep Throat as well as Lovelace's life story. I mean, obviously no 'name' actress is gonna sign on for playing Linda Lovelace and allow a film crew to shoot footage of her deep throating some guy, and plenty of footage of the real McCoy is already available...so what's the point?

It is a shame Lohan was dropped, though. I would love to see her glorious red bush.

I understand the evilness of the industry, and I am sure Linda was used and abused. I think it is horrible if what she says is true. Though in this he said-she said world, she could have made up some of it in order to try to portray herself as more of a victim than a willing participant, surely since she eventually went "Christian" and lectured extensively against the evils of the porn biz.

But the fact is, she is known throughout the galaxy as Deep Throat. So Malin better be able to gulp da coch. And they better put it on camera.
