They even make a Wolfgang model (https://axeheaven.com/Rock_Stars/Classic-Guitars/Eddie/index.aspx), as well. If I recall correctly, this is the same outfit that offered a handful of Mike Anthony's basses a few years ago, with Anthony's approval. One way or another, you'd think the company would be aware of the lawsuit-happy appetite of Mr. Van Halen's legal crew.

Reduced to $70, I don't understand the point of these.

Meticulous detail eh? Where is the white stripe that goes around the side of the red Frankie?

The stripes on the Bumblebee look wrong in that pic too...

I can think of 3 possible reasons. 1- They wanna avoid possible lawsuits or 2- They are simply incapable of replicating them properly or 3- They just don't give a fuck! ;)

I believe you are both correct. Look at this: Jack Bruce Psychedelic Fool Miniature Guitar Replica Collectible (https://axeheaven.com/Rock_Stars/Jack-Bruce/Jack-Bruce-Psychedelic-Fool-Miniature-Guitar-Replica-Collectible.aspx)

For one thing, Jack Bruce played bass in Cream. For another, the guitar belonged to Eric Clapton! :umm:

I look at Clapton's amp set up he used in Cream and wonder how the guy still has his hearing.

There's a rock and roll shop at the local mall that is infamous for their large collection of miniature guitars. You name it, they have it... And for christmas my girlfriend got me the classic Frankie. The details on it are truly astounding. Right down to the last dent and scratch... Relatively speaking

Which one? Red, white or yellow?

I think I like the white/black one the best of the 3 versions. But the red is definitely the most recognizable & legendary. Dimebag has the original yellow buried with him. Poor guy. His brother once said "If I told Dimebag he would be buried with the actual VH II guitar, he would say kill me now".

And yeah, the details they can get on small items is nothing short of amazing. I collect matchbox & hot wheels corvettes and some are just amazing. (i love Corvettes and this is the only way I get to own one)

Nobody runs their top cab for that very reason. Even if you have a stack or a few stacks on stage most people just run the bottom cabs. In those days the PA was for vocals only so maybe they had to use the top cabs to get out to the audience. I know the Grateful Dead's wall of sound was so loud they had to have sound canceling microphones so they could operate in front of a blasting PA system. Once it gets too loud the mics pic it up and you run into problems.

Isn't there supposed to be a 1971 quarter stuck on that Frankie?

If you think these are crummy, get a load of this piece of crap...:umm:

SERIOUS POINT on this crap.

If you check your link it says 'High Quality Handcrafted Miniature Guitar with Amazing Finishing Work and attention to Detail. This collection of miniature replica guitars are very detail exactly with a real guitar. Created by talented and experienced craftsmen in the field of musical instruments.'

They are $20 each for fuck sake!!??? How could talented and experienced craftsmen make these things by hand, ship them across the world and still make a profit???

The guy at the store at the mall, he says that he makes them by hand. Now, he could be fibbing, but the workmanship is superb. I'll take it with a grain of salt though.

You're right to take that with a grain of salt.

The chefcraig link is the one where it specifically says they are from Indonesia and they look the same and are about the same size and price as the other ones.

How could the guy at the mall possibly turn a profit making them himself? Remember he has all his overheads too. To earn minimum wage he would have to make one every 20 minutes or something. It would take longer than that to paint one.

Hey we all buy stuff from China but this seems to be a whole new level plus it's not exactly an essential.

You have to love what that link says about the "materials" used in the creation of these turds, near the bottom of the page:

waste wood
recycled plastic
other environmentally friendly materials

Even stranger, these materials are in fact links, which bring you to yet another page full of these insipid "guitar" products. Here is the LINK (http://www.etsy.com/listing/63590059/eddie-van-halen-red-with-white-stripes)once again.

Notice how the stripes only cover the top surface of the instrument, and fail to wrap around the guitar. Doesn't this wreak of quality craftsmanship to you? :umm:

Anyone complaining about the craftsmanship on these replicas....Have you seen the original? What a hacked up, jury-rigged piece of crap that thing is. Any guitar tech that's ever gotten close to it says the way it's wired up there is absolutely no way it should play. That Eddie hasn't shocked himself to death is amazing. And the only thing still holding the beast together is probably tar buildup from all the cigarette smoke.

Yet we love it.
