Know where to get caught in your town. Or add your own experiences.

The inability of federal and state governments to do the logical thing and make the rich pay their goddamn fair share of the tax burden has forced police departments to fund themselves other ways. But you don't necessarily have to be their patsy.....

Oh you are going to see local taxes and fees go up and more police issuing citations. Especially, in areas that have a bad economy. When the government starts to fail, it gets real active and squeezes the little guy. The rich pay taxes but the wealthy don't. Professional athletes and entertainers are rich and go to prison if they don't pay their taxes. George Carlin got in trouble and spent something like nine years paying the IRS off. The same with Willie Nelson. Who doesn't pay taxes are guys like Timothy Geithner. The connected wealthy with political and banking ties. The Bush family probably haven't paid any taxes.

We need to go after the crooks and be careful in the name of going after the tax evaders that we don't end up giving the government power to take family ranches and farms so those of course can be given to the wealthy we thought the government was going to go after. Some estates are family owned business that provide high quality organic food we enjoy but some of this tax regulation would force those families to sell that land and Monsanto snarfs it up.

I think the solution is replacing the income tax with a value added tax. Everyone pays with that one. The problem is tax preparation is a multi billion dollar business.

a flat tax rate....
it even does away w/ taxes that come out of your paycheck and the filing of income tax

and yes, since everyone, including the rich, the middle class, the poor AND the "visitors" from other countries ALL pay the tax, we are actually making money, not losing it...

would lose jobs in the IRS,
and the govt would lose some 63,000 pages of crap info in their tax laws.....

but in the long run....it would be beneficial to most of us.

for years there was a proposal in Congress about doing so...
am not sure if it is still being pushed or not.
