The clue to how the waterfall works is provided by the shadows cast around the 1:12 mark. http://freesmileyface.net/smiley/thinking/searching-019.gif (http://freesmileyface.net)

Wheel is CGI the rest built as an optical illusion? Clearer on full screen.

The funny thing is that if instead he had done a couple of lights moving on a black background a few hundred thousand people would be discussing how it was complete proof of alien UFOs.

The track is real. And if you look at it carefully you will see that the side he pours the water in is elevated the highest and it gets lower as it gets further away. All on the ground.

The 2 pillars are fake and inserted after the fact by computer program to give the illusion that the track is raised.

The water pouring out the end & falling onto the wheel is also inserted by computer after the fact.

the only thing real is the track flat on the ground & watching the water travel down it.

The track is indeed flat, but the pillars are real. They simply are not attached where they appear to be, because of the forced perspective. The water is rolling via gravity, but isn't being dispensed where it seems to be. (Hint: There is a mirror involved.)

Take a close look at the third pillar from the left (second from the wheel). Notice anything peculiar about it ?

I can't look at it anymore. Driving me crazy. I am always the one guy in the group that is the last to get how a magic trick or card trick is done. A few trips to Vegas we saw street guys or roaming guys in the casinos that entertain with simple tricks. I'm always baffled.

Plus I was married to a magician. My ex-wife made half my belongings disappear.

it's really well done. the floor's not level. the whole point of the mixing of the water at the beginning was to provide a plausible x y axis. at the end the dude is clearly walking uphill.
