Old enough to remember being over at my aunts house hearing all the old ladies being horrified about what was going on at Woodstock because it was on the news. Everyone thought it was going to explode in a huge riot.

The 60s was a wild decade. Complete upsetting of the status quo. I used to watch American Bandstand every Saturday to see what rock bands they had on. I watched the Beatles at Shea Stadium, as for the first time in history, one of the Big 3 networks broadcast the concert live on prime time TV. Did not realize it had been broadcast in color until the Beatles anthology was on cable in the 90s, as my family did not have a color TV until about 1969.

Though I do not recall the news reports of Woodstock, I do recall the news reports during the Summer of Love (1967) because there was this mass exodus of hippies from all over the US who decided to travel to San Francisco with flowers in their hair.

Of course being a kid, I did not get the full impact of all the stuff that was going on at the time. I was too busy being a kid, lol.

A color television in the late 60's was $2000-3000 in 1960's dollars. You could buy a Volkswagen Beetle for about the same price as a color television in those days. Our next door neighbor ordered a Heathkit color television and put it together in his basement. Lot's of parts to solder together and amazingly enough it actually worked when he was done. Having a large color TV console in those days was the equivalent of having a $20,000 home theater today.

My grandmother had the money. She lived in a big house, drove a big Cadillac and had a huge Zenith color television console with the remote control, stereo, turntable, and AM/FM receiver. We used to go have dinner every Sunday and watch the Wonderful World of Disney and Mutual of Omaha's wild kingdom on it. I remember a lot of times the adults would take over and flip the channel to Lawrence Welk. That was always a huge bummer.

I remember being allowed to stay up late to watch Star Trek. And when the Nixon trials disrupted my after-school TV shows. I recall trying to make the house be quite for the Sonny and Cher show. I think my first album was Saturday Night Fever. My Second was Art of Noise. My Third was Pink Floyd The Wall. I recall seeing a puzzle on a toy shelf at the store, thinking it said Stallion, grabbing it and saying I wanted it. My father in law worked for Boeing/Rocket Dyne durning the Apollo project. He had retired from Boeing and was getting ready to sell the house and move from Seattle and he was tossing these old manuals. I saw they were technical manuals on the Saturn V rocket and some old mechanics manuals on the P-51 mustang. He was a Air Force mechanic during the Korean War. The service is set up like a buffet (always the most sanitary of eating situations), and the pies themselves are like those supermarket brand types you used to get for around a buck. I used to use Frank Sinatra's pasta sauce when it was still on the market, and a variety of cheeses and toppings. It was terrific stuff, and saved you the steps of making the dough and getting flour all over the kitchen.

I used to use Boboli, too but.......once I started staying away from white flour it was cheaper and easy to make my own dough. I like to mix my spices right into the dough and fresh garlic baked into the dough gives a better flavor, IMO.

I don't know what it is, ace. It seems that just about every time I discover a food product I'm really pleased with, it either gets taken off of the market or comes out in a "new, improved" version that is anything but and generally neither.

8 track tapes sucked as a means of sound reproduction, but occasionally there were some 8 track only gems out there, like this extended mix of the Rolling Stones "Beast of Burden" which was neither on the vinyl album or cassette, nor any subsequent CD releases, even though the 80 minute CD format would have left plenty of room for it.

There was also an alternative mix of "Miss You" on the 8 track tape, about a minute longer than the album version. It also was never heard again after 8 tracks went extinct.

They make my favorite Italian dressing. Since the stuff came out years & years ago, I can't imagine my fridge without his face staring back at me from the door cubby. It's become one of those staples like Frenchs Mustard. I feel old seeing how long it's been around cause I remember when it was new and my mom thought it was a joke at the grocery store.
