President Obama says more domestic drilling, biofuel development and greater vehicle fuel efficiency can reduce petroleum imports. The plan is an apparent response to criticism over high gas prices by Republicans.

Wow. He changed his tune on domestic drilling as being nothing more than stop gap measure. Now he succumbs to Rethuglican pressure.

Here's the paragraph that gets me

The GOP has focused on opening more domestic territory to oil and gas drilling, projects that would only begin delivering fossil fuels several years from now. In his speech before students at Georgetown University, Obama agreed that more domestic oil and gas production was a must, though he said that companies needed to develop the millions of acres they've already purchased in federal lease sales over the years before any new territories would be opened.

So that's one way of overriding the environmentalists. And drilling/mining companies don't "develop" anything they destroy the surroundings if their is enough profit to be made. They don't purchase they cheat people out of their land (sound familiar, Crazy Horse?) or threaten them with bullshit lawsuits. You know what, fuck this hypocritical cocksucker. Hey Bamay baby, just how much fuel is consumed taking you ass to Brazil? Or a trip to the Camp David via your limo entourage on route to a helipad? And when your ass is kicked to the curb in 2012 nobody is going to remember you for much other than being a self-indignant lying moron.

If this guy Obama is really serious about getting off of foreign oil, let him stand at the podium and say by the end of the decade we will be off of it. Kennedy did that with going to the moon and we accomplished it. A president can set the goal. But then Obama is no Kennedy.

Instead of emphasizing conservation, Obama has made another bad policy decision by allowing expanded drilling and expansion of (future) nuclear power generation(s). Personally I could care less if the guy is a figurehead or not, and whatever his position is initially, he will compromise with conservatives to the point that the final policy will be moderately conservative. And unlike the cloaked racist statements made by SOME assholes on this board, Obama is no socialist (he doesn't have a clue) and he is no liberal much less being a figurehead. If anything, he is a weak, spineless moderate Republican asshat. Even Hillary would have injected a little more testosterone into the current Presidency.
