Last week veteran actor William Shatner teamed up with guitar legend Zakk Wylde at Wylde's studio, The Black Label Bunker, to lay down tracks for a cover of BLACK SABBATH's classic "Iron Man". The song will appear on Shatner's upcoming album, "Seeking Major Tom", which features a collection of sci-fi, space-themed songs. The album is due out on Cleopatra Records later this year.
Of Wylde, Shatner commented, "He's fantastic! I'm energized." Wylde was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Shatner and added, "He's super cool, we had an awesome time working together."

To me, Bill Shatner's Has Been album from 2004 was one of the best albums of the decade. No, I'm not kidding. The recording was produced by Ben Folds, and featured performances from Brad Paisley (who wrote and performed a song for the album), Joe Jackson (who played keyboards and even dueted with Shatner on a brilliant cover of Pulp's "Common People"), and Henry Rollins. Shatner (encouraged by Folds) wrote the lyrics for 8 of the album's 11 songs, and the results were hilarious, insightful and often quite moving.
This is a clip of "Common People", made as a project by some amateur filmmakers and actors from 2007.

Same tune, set to the early seventies cartoon version of Star Trek in an amusing, yet nebulous version.

Dance, drink, and screw because there is nothing else to do. Hey, I would take those three things over fixing the toilet at some dump that never cleans the restroom.

Dude.....I completely agree that "Has Been" is one of the greatest albums of the past 10 years.
Who woulda thought that a guy who does not sing at all could be part of such a great project?
It was more like music backing up Shatner's original poetry.
The song "What Have You Done" tore me up, because it was about his feelings when he found his wife dead in his swimming pool back in the 90s. It was some kind of accident, but imagine finding your wife, girlfriend, whatever dead under any circumstances.
Sure he has caught a lot of stick over the years about his "hamminess", etc.
But he deserves all the credit he gets. Easily.
I Can't Get Behind That (with Henry Rollins) makes me bust up laughing every time I hear it. He surely has a great sense of humor. :)

If you haven't had the chance yet, check out Shatner's brutally honest and laugh out loud hilarious 2008 autobiography Up Til Now. It works as a terrific companion piece to the album.

Susan Oliver, who played Vina the Orion Slave Girl had an incredible career.
Broadway actress, appeared on hundreds of TV shows and movies, as well as theatrical films.
Late 70s she was a director, directing an episode of M.A.S.H. and later an episode of Trapper John M.D.
She was also a pilot, and in 1967 became only the 4th woman to fly a single-engine aircraft across the Atlantic
She died at age 58 of lung cancer.
She was anything but your stereotypical bimbo Hollywood Starlet.
But I woulda done her in a heartbeat! :D

Hahaha.
Captain Kirk was my childhood hero.
Later, I added General George S. Patton and Dirty Harry Callahan to the list.
Why?
They all were not afraid to bend or break the rules to get the job done. They went above and beyond the call of duty to save their city, their country, or their planet from eminent doom and destruction.
In short, they all kicked fucking ass!
Shat's TV show Raw Nerve was great. Surprised me he was such a great talk show host. Very astute at picking out great questions to ask people. Was a cool thing.
Am totally glad for all the success he has had as an actor.
His version of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds was so bad (ala Plan 9 From Outer Space) that it is a classic!

I had a Marlin 336. Never jammed once on me. I killed so much game with that carbine. 30-30 with soft point bullets are effective up to elk sized game. It just drops them quick.

I really like Shatner from when I was a kid watching Star Trek. He has embraced his cheesiness which makes him all the more likable. He was really funny in Boston Legal. The new show is hard to watch. he is great, but the guy who plays the youngest son moving in with him is horrible. The guy over-acts every fucking word of every line. He talks way too loud like every word is a punchline. It really gets on my nerves. I just can't watch the show because of him. They really screwed the pooch when they chose him for the part.

BareBonesMusic.com conducted a short interview with legendary actor William Shatner on the "black carpet" of the third annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which was held on April 20 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. You can now watch the chat below.
Shatner was presented with the Honorary Headbanger Award at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. Revered for his role as Captain James T. Kirk on "Star Trek", Shatner was on hand to accept his award, an honor Revolver magazine bestows each year to someone who has made their name outside of the metal world but still embodies its spirit.
"Short of receiving an Emmy for my superb voice, the Honorary Headbanger Award is the next best thing. Praise be you won't hear me sing," said Shatner.
Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records has inked William Shatner to a worldwide recording deal for a space-themed concept album entitled "Searching For Major Tom" (formerly "Seeking Major Tom"), to be released later this year.
Comprised of 19 "interpretations" of classic intergalactic rock anthems, the release features guest appearances by Ritchie Blackmore (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE), Ian Paice (DEEP PURPLE), Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE), Carmine Appice (VANILLA FUDGE, ROD STEWART, OZZY OSBOURNE), Mike Inez (ALICE IN CHAINS) and Michael Schenker (MSG, UFO, SCORPIONS).
Of Wylde, Shatner previously said, "He's fantastic! I'm energized." Wylde was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Shatner and added, "He's super cool, we had an awesome time working together."
