Back in the days of real rock and roll. Back when the Motor City Madman was some hell bent guitar blasting crazy man and we had no idea what his politics was or if he even cared.

Some great rock at those Cal Jam shows.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

In the mid to late 70s, Ted Nugent could have been classified as Heavy Metal, as there was no actual Leather And Studs look associated with Metal until Judas Priest around 1979-1980.
He could have been seen as a Metal Guitarist as he was hell-bent on being the LOUDEST guitarist on the planet!

I saw the Nuge in 1980 and he was plenty loud. I have a dual Showman amp with 15 inch speakers for a bass rig but that was always what Nugent used in the day. I dimed it with a friends 335 plugged in and holy shit was it a monster to control. So you had that issue and then Nugent played fast and fluid. He would get more respect if he never wore his politics on his sleeve. Once you do that especially if you are on the far right or left you alienate people and they never will look at you the same again. The thing is the guy was original and had some great chops. Double Live Gonzo is one of the all time best live rock and roll albums. I like this particular Cal Jam footage of him. It's before the loin cloth non-sense and the political rants. He was a real rock and roller going out there to work his magic and the crowd was loving it.
