Halford can use this mix at the Phoenix Gay Pride march, I guess.

The problem with Gaga is she has to push the envelope & top whatever crazy ass look she did yesterday. Eventually (and very shortly) she is going to run out of shock value and have to fall back on the actual substance of her music. Look at Madonna? She used to be the same, but her music was solid enough to hold her up when there was no more shock value in anything she did. Not so for Gaga. Catchy today, gone tomorrow type music. Jesus Jones Right Here Right Now anyone?

Gaga is almost out of ways to shock us. She has 2 choices. Live suicide or murder, or actually make good music. No one cares about Marilyn Manson anymore. His schtick got old too. Gaga can't go away soon enough for me. I hope she has a good investment banker handling her money.

Oh, and recently Gaga was complaining how she has to outdo her last outrageous thing...because the fans demand it and how stressful and tiring it is. Um, hey stupid bitch...they only demand it because that is what you kept giving them. that is what you based your entire persona on. Your complaints are akin to Jim Carrey complaining that people want to see him in comedies, John Wayne complaining people want to see him in Westerns, or KISS saying people want to see them in their full makeup/costumes.

I wouldn't rank that as "timeless" in the sense that The Beatles, The Stones, The Who or Van HALEN are, by any means, but it probably holds up better today than most songs from that time period......

Not sure I could really say the same thing about "International Bright Young Thing" though.

And it is kinda sad, that in that song they were thinking what we all were thinking at the time - that the "Cold War" was finally over and that a better world was possible. But then, that wouldn't have been profitable for the BCE and their friends :(

I don't mind her but I don't have to listen to her that much and she does seem to be quite a smart cookie.

I was looking at the Rolling Stone picture gallery the other week and she seems to be in over half the pics for the last year out of the hundreds in their gallery so I guess what she is doing is working.

You leavin out one thing.....there is another shock alternative in Lady Gag-Gag's arsenal that she has not used yet. Madonna has not used this device either.

She needs to star in a hardcore porno film where she does ass-to-mouth.

Madonna made her "Sex" movie, but that was just her posing naked a lot and simulating a buncha stuff.

She shoulda filmed herself taking it up the ass. Instead she just made a softcore art film.

So Lady Choke can still extend her career by a year or two by starring in a hardcore film where she fucks and sucks anyone and everyone.

Saw a piece on her on 60 Minutes a couple of weeks back.

She is smart. Very aware of all aspects of her marketing and promotion.

Apparently she is ignorant about how to create classic music though. Musically she IS a flash in the pan.

Madonna did create good music. And surrounded herself with talented musicians and producers.

One reason Lady Choke's music does not stand up so well perhaps is that she writes or co-writes all the songs on her records. If she was a good songwriter, perhaps that would be a good thing, but apparently she still has a way to go.

Shakira is an example of a good female pop artist. She writes all the songs on her albums, and produces her own albums, and is in control of every aspect of her career. I have a lot of respect for her.

Oh well. I have just wasted 5 minutes of my life I can never get back again, commenting on some third-rate Madonna clone I don't give a rat's ass about. :umm:

Woah, woah, WOAH!

Back down there, buster. Please don't toss Shakira in a nearby bag to Lord Gaga.

Shakira has been using singles to sell her albums, okay, but there's a lot of substance in the albums themselves if you skip the pop songs for the charts.

In fact, Shakira may very well be the smartest artist of all time. She does shitty songs to earn money to continue doing what she likes. And there's a lot of her songs that her wakka wakka fans will certainly never get.

Bur it doesn't matter. She's selling the album anyway. Get it?

Cheers! :bottle:

Actually, yes, I do. I have listened to Shakira for YEARS, way back since Piez Descalzos, when she wasn't the fuckin' hotness she is now, "merely" a cute girl.

If you listen to that album & are able to recognize good, well written music in genres other than Hard & Heavy, you'll find there was already a lot of promise & potential back then, even if it was a bit simple & raw.

I also like La Oreja de Van Gogh a LOT. Look it up. It's pop & may be a bit off putting at first, if you're used to harder stuff, but its quality will soon become apparent to you.

You see, I've strayed a bit from heavier stuff a couple of years ago, 'cuz I found nothing worthwhile in these new bands. It's been done & redone & the sad part is, that's not the bad thing about it.

Metal, Hard Rock & especially Hair Metal used to be about fun. Music should only convey emotions - the only art form that should do so - not ideals. Somewhere in the 90s, after grunge, everybody had something to say & for some reason, they turned to music to do it.

Of course, empty headed retards comin' from a middle class background that allowed them to have extremely stupid ideals like communism & shit - 'coz they never really had to experience what it's really like to have to share something that you really need - bought into the fad, not because they were fans of music, but because of the lyrics.

This lead to people turning to music for the wrong reasons & allowed talentless hacks that made the Sex Pistols look like fuckin' virtuosos to have successful bands, 'coz the masses are just too stupidly dumb to appreciate music in itself. "It's boring", they say. How many times have you heard someone say that?

And sadly, Metal was not immune to this retarded trend & you now see the hip hop/rap hacks doin' the fun videos & Metal bands taking themselves WAY too seriously. I mean, Rob Halford knew he was treading the fine cheesy line with all that leather & those lyrics, but he never really crossed it like these new Metal bands do.

And that's why I had to turn to other musical styles to keep my interest in music alive.

There is so much you can do with pure, blues based Metal if you have the guts to experiment. Just listen to Virgin Steele's House of Atreus Parts I & II to find out what can happen when you put MUSIC before the concept. Sadly, most take the easy road & deliver shitty tunes laced with "meaningful" messages.

Fuck it. I'm gonna listen to Chas & Dave.

Cheers! :bottle:

Me and my friends were mildly amused by him in the 80's as teenagers. Hard to believe he has stretched it out so fucking long.

I disagree with just about everything you've said. The exception being that Shakira makes (or at least MADE) good albums. That is indeed true.
