For my PC audio (for recording purposes also) I have a pair of Tannoy PBM 8 studio monitors that I got for 400 bucks in the late 90s. Have replaced the tweeters, had the crossovers rebuilt (I melted them the first day I got Pantera's "Reinventing The Steel" CD), and had the woofer's foam rings replaced due to dry rot just last year.

Powered by a 100w/channel stereo Pioneer SX-205 Victrola receiver:

When I bought this place I live in, I found the Victrola ID plate in the storage shed. Landlady said they kept the Victrola in the shed for years, but the humidity here in Tennessee slowly rotted the cabinet, so it wound up on the burn pile. I looked the serial number up, and it was a model from 1924.

Then for my 'entertainment center' I have a 4.0 quadrophonic surround sound system. Have never bothered to spend the cash on a 5.1 speaker setup. I have a JVC RX-D202 receiver, which offers 7.1 channel capability at 100 watts/channel.

However, it has the ability for you to program into it how many speakers you have. I have a pair of Fisher floor speakers (about 40 inches tall) with a 15, a mid and a tweeter in each one for my front pair, and for my "surround" speakers which are off to each side of my sofa against the walls, I have a pair of really nice SpeakerLab speakers. So I have the 'surround' function with a quad speaker setup.

Works nice. And the JVC also takes into account I do not have a sub, so it feeds the appropriate bass to all four speakers.

in the computer/music room...a Mackie 1202 VLZ mixer into an Alesis RA-100 and Monitor Ones. had this setup for quite a while and it still sounds good.

living room's got an old Kenwood receiver and amp and four mid 70's JVC speakers. the JVCs used to be hooked up to an equally old Sansui quad receiver. the Sansui needs some work, if anything it'll be a winter project.

not sure what i'm going to do with the "loud" room in the basement. may end up getting a small PA and running the keys/drum module through that, and i can also use it for parties. i'll probably go with a 60" HDTV down there with surround. haven't decided if i want surround on my 46" in the living room yet.

Right on dude. Some wacked out looking speakers there. But, as obviously some audio designer came up with them while tripping on acid, I bet they sound great!

I run a DJ mixer through various power amps to various speakers and run the CD player, the iPod, the turntable, and the tuner through the various inputs. I have one big subwoofer and 8 speakers. I'm running 100 watts per channel and 100 mono to the sub so my system is 900 watts RMS.

Man, you are a pussy. 900 watts? You gots money! Go out and buy a PA system! Get yourself a couple of line arrays for your living room, and several racks of Crest power amps! :lmao:

I never thought those were for sale anyway, as there only exist 250 pairs worldwide, built between 2001 and 2007.

So as i was told otherwise i was extremly sceptic at first because i was not going to spend money on some design-gimmick exclusively. Then again i knew B&W supplies for instance Abbey Road Studios for decades, can't be that bad altogether.

To cut it short, after 2 days listening at home i was hooked, fuck the money, can't live without.

btw The Designer Morten Warren also created those:
