Kurt admitted to that, yes. Hagar got a lot of airplay on the radio stations up here in those days, including the old FM station down in Aberdeen. KGHO, I think it was called. I could actually pick that station up at my house on occasion, with the FM antenna setup that I had (a lot of Portland and Canadian stations too)

Hell, even I listened to Hagar back then, if he was on the air, but I didn't go to his show.

I was driving up to Seattle from Portland and decided to take the scenic route up along the coast and stopped in Aberdeen to get some gas. That town just had the creepiest vibe to it, the people seemed weird, and I was glad to get the hell out of there. I later learned that Kurt Cobain came from there. My brother in law who is a Seattle native calls it the Aberdeen vortex of darkness.

Yeah, around here, we call it "Aberdoom". It seemed to be a depressing place even before the timber & fishing industries both killed themselves through greed and over harvesting. If I didn't have to drive through it to get to the beach, I'd avoid it altogether.

Hype! the grunge doc. I saw pretty much had all these band members saying how creepy and paranormal the area was.

Didn't know if they were just bullshitting or not. Sighted UFO's, Bigfoot (katydid?) and a ton of missing person cases as examples.

And here's a couple of additional relics from the late 70s/early 80s. The young Van Halen made several live appearances in the studios of KISW FM 99.9 (or FM 100, as it was called in the analog tuner days).

I wish to god that some more stuff from those appearances would surface, because there was some funny shit there, usually involving the whole band being drunk off their asses. But at least these two airchecks survived......
