:ATTENTION WHORE ALERT:
So I go in for routine bloodwork. They say the Liver enzymes are high, let's do the test again. Same result, let's do fasting bloodwork for the following: Isoenzymes, lipid panel, hepatic function and GGT. On the bottom of that order is written "please process ASAP".

SO, asshole that I am, I looked up these tests on the internet. It ain't pretty. Anybody have any background in this stuff, or am I going to walk around for a couple of weeks wondering if I have liver or bone cancer? I need a best case scenario.

Elevated liver enzymes could be a sign of many different things. Some would be very serious conditions, others less so. Speeding up the tests would be a good idea, just to make sure what the cause is, so you can act on it as soon as possible, since a liver that's not functioning properly is problematic in and of itself, even if the root cause is on the minor end of the scale.

Yes, thanks I get all my online information from Mayo or the NIH. Still a scary business.

Relax. I've had the same thing pulled on me by the HMO doc and after the test results came back, she offered "Lay off the artificially sweetened soft drinks and drink more pure water instead."

You'll be fine.

That's encouraging to hear. I can hope she's over reacting or being overcautious.

Well, it's definitely true that the liver isn't a big fan of either artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn poison. Since that shit isn't natural, the liver doesn't know how to metabolize it. Too much of that shit, and its the same end result as too much alcohol, Cirrhosis.

Without all the fun of getting there :gulp:

Yes and yes. And generating some revenue as well. That's the game.

Yes. I guess this is one of those "everybody tell me I'm going to be OK" threads. Sorry, my mind just always goes to the worst thing.

Bad News Shoes...

You're probably going to die based on your avatar... best case scenario is they remove your horns and huge pink scrotum and call it even...

That is all.

I am hoping shoes gets good reports back from docs.

I wouldn't want to scare shoes out of her mind or her shoes or shit or her non Dalmation having AV,, but I would like to ask her to make me some sammiches, after giving her the best 90 seconds of her life, yes I would.

Cause, I am a giver.

As long as there are sammiches.

my doc would have me go for blood work a couple days before my next appointment. as in, "go for blood work on Monday morning (usually fasting 8 hours before) and schedule an appointment for a couple days later." i think the receptionist told me that results came back in a couple hours, not a week or longer.

been through the liver thing, too. i think when i switched BP meds. which i am not taking anyways...fuckin' doc asked me if i could not drink for a couple weeks. i told him yeah, it's not like i was afraid i was going to sit around and shake or anything.

Shoes,

In all seriousness, and I'm rarely serious... we've had enough bad news with soldiers around here, so I hope all turns out well.

That is all.

Ha! I never noticed the horns, but I've thought to myself that it looked like an udder under there... 1 out of 2 ain't bad.

I wish you the best, and hope everything will be fine.

Depending on when you get your results, I may be telling my friends at the office, "I knew this lady, every time Van Halen would get ready to release an album, her liver enzymes would be irregularly high. You could always tell when the new album would drop."

Dr. Love why does the tit shaker on the far left look like she has a bad suture job under her right tit? Hell if she had implants and only came up with THAT I'd be upset.

You can call and ask.
You do know your medical records are yours, don't you?

I did call and ask Blaze. They gave me some general vague stuff about repeating tests in case the lab mishandled the samples. OK I'll buy that for the second test, but not for the third with the much greater detail. And the "asap". I will be calling them again on Tuesday.

I'm hoping for the best here... just a little something out of whack, some meds and dietary adjustments and you'll be fine.

Hmmm that statement could solve 90% of the problems posted here...

Stay on the doctors Shoes... fully excersize your rights to second or third opinions. Also once diagnosed, research and locate the top specialists in the field, if needed. Don't settle for 2nd or 3rd best.

That's SOP, Shoes. Don't try to read too much into it, you'll go crazy.

Have a drink. Shit, have three. I'm buying.

Dr. finally called back today - levels still high, more tests - this time an ultrasound of the liver. I guess she wants to eliminate the serious stuff first. Fine with me.

Can't have a drink Julius - LOL. In case it's cirrhosis and all. (Didn't think I drank THAT much) Hope not, I don't look good in yellow :)
