I didn't know Brain had a new one out (apparently, it's been out since last April)
I picked this up this morning not knowing what to expect - a record with no singing? Brian isn't breaking any new ground here but he does keep the random guitar cliche classics like Cherokee to a minimum. Instead, Brain comes off with this record sounding like a session guitarist making a demo tape with one hell of a backing band but Christ, can the man play guitar! Highlights are the Chet Atkins-inspired Earl's Breakdown and the reverbed surf punk of Go Go Godzillia. His solos, phrasing, and tone are all magical. No, they are beyond magical. This effort is not as good as 'Lonely Avenue' in terms of diversity (Brain pretty much plays straight balls out hot rod guitar here) which is to me, his best record to date. So you're a guitar player I highly recommend this for inspiration. Because if you don't you're obviously a pussy.
And I LOVE this! Watch Brain walk allover that pussy Jeff Beck without a step of shame.
