This will be Shoes planning this one - not home anymore but still the hometown. Buffalo is 3 hrs from Cleveland, 2.5 from Pittsburgh, 1.5 from Toronto and 5 from Detroit. I will make this meetup worthwhile! Chime in if you're up for it - we have to work out a way to get tix.

I'll find one - we can all crash together again. There's a hampton Inn not far from the venue, and a Sheraton I think. I will even look at the Hilton and the Hyatt, but I think they're out of our reach.

Nothin' fancy --- but the Motel 6 off I-90 heading towards Rochester only charged me $50/night back in June 2011

got 5 days to figure out the amex pre-order code / ph# from back of amex gold card

I will be there, 2 hr drive to my west to Buffalo - probably have a beer and smoke in a parking garage somewhere before the show - maybe if u guys have a pre-show rendezvous spot in mind that would be good too

I don't party like I used to - if home is only 2 hrs and I aint gonna be drunk , no need for staying the night

gives you a few day advance on the rest of the non-amex folk - I would like to have some sway in where I sit - I may not want to be too close and spendy $$ , but I sure dont want a bad angle of viewing either from some left side seat a computer randomly gave me - once these are on sale and every computer in the world can grab a place in line, ya get what's next - buying tickets has changed from the get there night before with a 12 pack and buy 6 tics at 9am and have a moment to choose seats =)

the concerts have not fully hit the computer systems, news is too new - so the amex site and even ticketmaster has nothing on buffalo van halen show yet

OK - the Hyatt it is. I think I'll see if I can get a large table at the Pearl Street Grill before and find some place with music to go after. Erie county closes bars at ***4AM***** so there's plenty of time to party after.

See "Buffalo Chicken Wings" as served by most places in the US are not authentic. The real deal are deep fried, then tossed in a mixture off "Franks hot sauce" and butter. They are artery busters, but SO good when done right. None of these "Hooters, applebees, 99's" thingys can ever stack up. I've only had a few places out of the city ever make 'em right.

TicketNetwork Advisory -- New Van Halen Tour Sparks Demand for Tickets

Press Release: TicketNetwork.com – 4 hours ago

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwire -01/13/12)- Van Halen has announced that they are once again returning to the stage with original lead man, David Lee Roth, causing a surge in the sale of tickets to their tour. In the week since announcing the tour's schedule, Van Halen has surpassed the previous leader, Coldplay, as the group with the most tickets sold on the TicketNetwork Exchange this year*.
The high demand has driven ticket prices up considerably. The current overall average price for the Van Halen tour is $260. That is significantly higher than the average price for the group's 2008 tour, which was $190. The lowest average price for the upcoming tour is $188 for the March 9 concert in Buffalo, NY, while the highest average price is $382 for the March 3 concert in Uncasville, CT.
The 2012 Van Halen Tour begins on February 18 in Louisville, KY, and ends on June 26 in New Orleans, LA. The tour follows the February 7 release of their latest album, A Different Kind of Truth, which is the band's first studio album in 14 years.
View the table below for a selection of average ticket prices for individual tour dates. Then visit the Van Halen page at TicketNetwork.com to find tickets.

It's in Depew - I'd have to get directions. Has me coming in on Wednesday night. So I will have a hotel room Wed. night if anybody wants to crash. We could go check out the arena and try to bust into the soundcheck Thursday afternoon. Still have to decide which bar we hit before or after. Pearl Street or the Cobblestone. Or maybe one for an early dinner, and the other for pre concert party. Also want to check out the Lafayette Taproom for music afterwards, or back to the Cobblestone. So many options I'm so excited.

We will be there on Thursday afternoon. Leaving work around noon.

We will of course need shopping time. We may do that on Thursday before we get downtown.

I see that the hotel bar closes at midnight. The Century Grill is right across the street, but I didn't see the hours listed anywhere. I shall post our whereabouts for Thursday arrivals.

As for Friday, we had suggestions for the Pearl St Grill. I hear it's close to the venue. Shoes is hostess, it's her call.

The only trouble is I think none of this is walkable from the hotel. :( I underestimated the distances.

I will make some phone calls - and see what's going on where - we might be better off going to the Cobblestone first - and then I have to check if Pearl St. is even open that late. Stay tuned.

Yep. There was a huge legal battle that went on between the Indians and the Federal Government over a centuries old treaty. Thats how they started in San Diego kinda in the late 80's. Simple a small card room in a large tent on the reservations. Usually Texas hold em $1-$2. Then they added weird type video machines but they had to pay vouchers instead of coins. 20+ years later it's full Vegas style. they just kept pushing for more & more. It's great cause they pull in a lot of cool concerts too. Nice hotel rooms, buffets, gambling, etc.

But me & some friends would go play poker when they were small. Go with $100 or less & youcould play all night & maybe go home up a few $$$. We had soooo much fun back then. I do miss that. The poker rooms now are so big and formal ( I like the laid back atmosphere) and all the players think they are in the world series....it's lame & intimidating. No fun any more.

So where are we going after the show? I don't know how you guys feel,

but I don't need to go to a bar and see another band after seeing the best

band in the world. Would prefer a place where we can hear each other.

That part I haven't figured out yet. We could just head back to Pearl Street if we like it enough. And if it's open. Or that place Tommy found across from the Hyatt. Again, if it's open.

Maybe you can all go to Von's room to hang out if his boyfriend doesn't mind.

Final Buffalo pre-party info

Bumping this up as I am leaving in an hour. I will try to keep up with you all on tapatalk.

Directions to the Pearl St. Grill
http://pearlstreetgrill.com/directions

We will be in the "Cellar Bar" with reservations for the "Roth Army" at around 6PM. This should make it easy for ANYBODY to find us, shirts or not. (wear them anyway!)

We have reserved a package with on site brewed beer, pizza and wings, and we are adjacent to a deli if anybody wants to get more substantial fare, and a cash bar if anybody wants more than beer. The package is called a "Train Wreck", somehow that is appropriate. It looks like if we get about 20 people it will cost 10 bucks a head.

Kudos to Tommy V who found this package on line.
