I recently bought a great Rega RP3 Turntable and have started on my quest for some great vinyl.l
I love it! So much more fun than plugging in the ipod to my receiver!
So the problem I am running into is storage.
Where do you guys store these (standing up)? Milk crate? Boxes?

Any info would be appreciated!

Wooden crate. No Idea how they're holding up. I'm worried heat and mildew may have ruined mine as they're in storage.

Standing up seems to be the preferred method......

Don't stack 'em or let them lean on each other.......straight up puts the least amount of pressure on the record!

Keep 'em out of sunlight and extreme hot or cold temps, too!

The sleeve and the cover are important to keeping dust and dirt out. Get a good wipe cloth, too!

Ha! I said wipe cloth;)

Ha!

I have a plastic milk crate. Do not have more than about 30 albums at present. Am keeping them stored upright on edge. Yes, that is the best thing for them.

Store 'em in shelves that are designed more for books - bottom level of the sturdy IKEA Billy shelves! They stick out a bit because the depth of the shelving unit ain't 12" deep! But, if the album covers are not too worn, I can find what I am looking for by reading the spines, rather than flicking thru.

Like so - I wouldn't fill up the middle or top shelves on these units with vinyl albums. Too heavy, but it's no problem on the bottom. This is what remains of my vinyl album collection. Have lost / traded literally hundreds over the last 20 years - much to my regret now!

Still have a couple of hundred albums. I keep 'em stored in milk crates that I stole when I was a teenager...

As Kwamek said, store vertical, do not stack. Do not over squeeze.

Discard the cellophane wrappers. I store all vinyl records in sleeves, so no wear and tear. My record store clerk referred to them as rice sleeves, but I don't think they are rice. Nevertheless, I've used these sleeves for over 20 years, and they still look new. I think this is the one...

Diskeeper™ Resealable 3 mil Outer LP Sleeves - clear PolyPro with fold-over flap and long-lasting adhesive strip to seal your LP jackets against household pollutants. It's a better alternative to mylar resealable sleeves because it doesn't split or retain permanent creases like mylar. Adhesive strip in on the body of the sleeve, NOT the flap

I put up some shelves to keep them on. We have a little coat closet off our dining room and I busted out the wall and dedicated all of the space under the stairs to vinyl, cds and dvds. Over the summer I put up shelves in there as I attempt to tackle the task of organizing all my shit. Right now it's a clusterfuck, but it's a neat and tidy clusterfuck (that is out of Mrs Walker's line of sight). I had a nice Marantz turntable back in the day and have gone through a couple of entry level Sony and Audio Technica turntables, but last spring I bought a used Technics SL1200 off craig's list and I fucking love that thing. Hoping to make a few upgrades to it later in the year (new tone arm, wiring, cartridge).

Same way I have been for 35 years. In a cardboard box on the floor.

Milk crates work really well.
