ever been playing away, slipping into the zone, and then *TOING* the pick goes sailing out of your sweaty mitts and you go to look for it........and it fucking vanishes? That shit is gone. 20 minutes and your brain's trying to put it together that it defies the law of physics but you're still looking everywhere . Did it go into some black hole? Did Soundgarden have this experience before writing Black Hole Sun? I have a theory that it's on the other side of the carpet.
Since mentally after this I'm at the point of putting 2 and 2 together and getting pi, I decided to get 72 picks and wherever the hell they go it's fine with me.

20 bucks for 72 picks. Gotta love Amazon.

:lmao: Have you seen those pick-holders that clip on to your strap? You can fit about 8 or so in the one I have..kinda handy, especially for a gig (if you don't sing backups and thus have no need for a mic-stand pick-holder...or you can always put a tiny swatch of duct tape in an inconspicous place on your guitar and stick a couple of spares on there. But yeah, no clue where most of them go...especially considering they don't bounce that far usually... I wanna know how the ones that were behind (not under) my couch got there, as I was not at any point playing BEHIND MY COUCH... :hee:

A dollar for everytime I'd find a pick (or five) in the wash...

A nickel for everytime I couldn't find that one that fell on the carpet... I've since moved on from black picks...

a funny little story... some years ago i lived in a unit with no laundry, so i had to use the laundromat. i'd always use the same washer/drier combo. so one day (i'd been using the place for a year at least) i found one of my picks jammed under the strut in the drier drum!!!

i buy 20 at a time, that does me for a year or so.

I have a stacked washer & dryer, and without fail everytime I open the dryer a handful of picks come cascading out.. They usually end up in the open washer below, never to be seen again. I'm convinced one day it will explode from all of the picks in there.

No, Thrills first mentioned having trouble holding onto them, too...that's challenging depending on what kind of pick you use, right? :lmao:
I like Clayton (1.00mm)'s for that reason; they're powder-coated or something, they don't seem to get as slippery once your hand starts sweating...

I cleaned out my dresser drawers last weekend and every drawer was infested with picks. I also found the sunglasses I thought I had lost and three pairs of swim trunks I didn't know I had. I also have an assortment of socks where the other one is missing. That's the big mystery to me. Where does the other sock go?

I remember coming home from a trip in Mexico. I opened my luggage and while pulling out the clothes there was a pair of panties in there. They weren't mine but I had been drinking a lot during the whole vacation. I figured I must have had a good time.

I have them laying all around the house. Live, I stick 2 or 3 under the top edge of my pickguard on my Gibson Flying V or my JB Player neck-thru body Strat.

I have ALWAYS had problems holding on to them. Saw an ad in the current issue of Guitar Player for some picks I am going to try out. I used to get a drill, and drill a hole through my JD .88mm Nylon picks. I have been using JD .88 nylon picks now for 25 years. Of course it is a hassle drilling holes in the damn things.

Saw these in the product spotlight (page 166), by a company called Gripick...they come with a hole in the middle with 3 little raised dots around it for grippage:
