Congressional approval hits another all-time low

By Lucy Madison

As Congress heads toward another possible stalemate over extending the payroll tax cut, a new Gallup poll shows that congress' approval rating is at a new all-time low of 10 percent.

According to the poll, 86 percent of Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing. That figure ties the all-time high in congressional disapproval set in December, according to Gallup.

The survey, conducted between Feb. 2-5, reflects a growing sense of dissatisfaction with an often deadlocked Congress. In 2011, the average congressional approval rating in Gallup polling was 17 percent -- the lowest yearly average the polling company has ever recorded. And it got worse as the year went on: Starting in May, the figure trended downward, hitting the previous low of 11 percent in December 2011.

Last year, the highest congressional approval rating recorded was 24 percent.

The current dissatisfaction with Congress is bipartisan: Only 11 percent of Democrats and 12 percent of Republicans approved of the job Congress was doing in the new Gallup poll. Among independents, Congressional approval was just 8 percent.

President Obama, meanwhile, saw a slight uptick in the Gallup poll: The new survey showed him at 50 percent approval.

It's really too bad that people don't channel this disapproval of Congress into reality, and vote every last one of these right wing corporatist cocksuckers out. Including the right wing corporatist cocksuckers who fraudulently call themselves "democrats".

If we had actual LIBERALS doing the will of the people controlling both houses of Congress, it wouldn't matter which douchebag was in the White House. Worst situation would be total gridlock, which would at least keep things from getting any worse.

I think there's such a thing as left wing corporatists, but I otherwise agree. They don't support them and yet they keep voting for them. Makes perfect sense.

Not too many real Democrats anymore in office. Today I noticed Obama is going to put some former Monsanto guys in charge of the FDA. That's like hiring Charles Manson to baby sit your children while you go on a two week vacation. This guy isn't a true Democrat or even a socialist. He's robbing the social programs and awarding the money to a few insurance companies that obviously wrote the healthcare bill. They are going to totally fleece the system raw. Then you have BP being put in charge of the oil spill. Basically we have a president that puts the people responsible for the damage in charge of the regulating and clean up operations. Unbelievable. The government has gone completely out of control.

The whole right wing vs left wing thing now is just to keep the little people arguing and blaming each other. If you finally get past the party loyalty and flag waiving you see both sides are bought off by the same interests. The banking regulation is gone, nobody is going to jail for fraud, a good share of the law makers themselves should be behind bars. Let's just call it what it is total corruption. Corruption so bad it's threatening the survival of the system itself. Anyone arguing a Democrat vs Republican debate has no idea what the real problem is. The government has just become a bunch of idiots seeking lobby money. They will tell their base what they want to hear and then do what the big money wants them to do.
