Poe's Law is an axiom suggesting that it's difficult, if not impossible, to distinguish between parodies of religious or other fundamentalism and its genuine proponents.

The fact that this man believe in installing a theocracy within the current setup of gov't is a true insult to the founders of this country.

I'm going to rant here.

As someone who's independent with some conservative values on economic matters, it disgusts me what the right wing has devolved into. The amount of smear campaigns against the current president, have been ridiculous and said. Trying to pin him as a guy without a legit birth certificate, as a "Socialist", and Muslim is pretty sad, and shows a true lack of political skill within that wing.

This election in particular could have been a slam dunk for the GOP in my book, if they would have just done 3 things. 1.) Mention how terrible the economy is, and their solutions to fix it. 2.) Mention and pin Obama how he rubs elbows with big businesses, and mention the bailouts, and how he's not for the average joe, but whomever can donate the most. 3.) Mention how fucked up Health Care system is, and how they'd make a better plan to better suit the country, and amount of debt we are in.

No..they didn't go with that though. They went for social issues that frankly, the average joe could give less of a shit about. I mean, honestly? Is abortion and gay marriage that fucking IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW? There's people who are getting their homes foreclosed on, there's people who've lost their jobs, there's people who have lost all their investments due to wall street scumbags, yet, that is who you're going to focus on? the fucking Ned Flanders of the world? Do you think those who I mentioned above care if two dudes hook up and marry,? Does that help somehow qualm their concerns that they're worried that their family may not have food to eat if they don't get their next paycheck or find a job?

Meanwhile, while we're wrapped up in this stupid fucking debate on culture wars and religion, more fucked up laws are made that limit our free speech and civil liberties, while lining the pockets of the richest people in this country.

This is why I hate Rick Santorum. He doesn't believe in protecting your rights, he believes in taking them away so that it fits his particular brand of Catholicism. He's a fucking crook, and a douche bag.

fuck him, and fuck the horse he rode in on.

No it just proves the evangelicals in the south are even more insane than the Mormons in the west are. Mitt is just an executive that has made a lot of money for himself and happens to be from a family that was Mormon and still claims the family religion. Santorum is flaming nuts.

I mean Mormons have inherited some weird beliefs but for the most part they are business people. They wear suits and ties. They own a lot of shit. A good percentage of them are highly educated and work hard. They build their temples on some of the most desirable real estate around. So when the dead dunking and crazy handshakes become passe they still own valuable real estate that has increased in value.

Mormons really are more like Jews. They aren't jumping around with snakes slapping the bible and drooling at the mouth saying they are saved. They just quietly work together and buy everything up.

Most do. Romney is the rule and not the exception. Elohim is just something to rally the troops around. An organizational node if you will. Once you really understand religion you understand it's not about God at all but gimmicks and games to farm a population of people. You make them breed with each other and then take a percentage of what they produce. Simple as that.

Power. The most valuable asset in the world to control are people. What's interesting about religion is you can even control educated productive people with it. You get the skim and you get the political power.

"More broadly, Kennedy made the case for why people of faith, even religious leaders, should embrace the notion of a separation between church and state. "While this year it may be a Catholic against whom the finger of suspicion is pointed," he said at a gathering of ministers in Houston, "in other years it has been, and may someday be again, a Jew or a Quaker or a Unitarian, or a Baptist."

Kennedy went on to become the first — and so far only — Catholic president, and his words have stood as an eloquent description of constitutional principle. Now, a half-century later, another Catholic seeking the presidency, Rick Santorum, describes an unusual reaction to Kennedy's speech. The former senator from Pennsylvania has now said twice that it makes him want to throw up. (On Tuesday, he said he wished he hadn't used that phrase, though he retains his negative view of the speech.)
Santorum argues, most recently in an appearance Sunday on ABC's This Week, that the speech was a kind of initial salvo in a state-sponsored war on religion. Rather than promoting freedom of religion by limiting its entanglements with politics, Santorum says the intent was to banish religion from the public square."

You would think this kind of stuff would stop the Baptists voting for him, do they want the Pope influencing their government and the Catholics should be against him for insulting Kennedy.

You absolutely would!

But there are so many "Christians" that are wishy washy and not really paying attention to anything, including the Pastor...

So they're like, "ahh yeah, duh, like he's a Christian and stuff and he's against gay marriage and stuff, and uhh..."

And then you try to tell them something and they're like, "Ron Paul, he's that old man, right?"

That's what the Bible means where it explains how God would rather his people be hot or cold, but if you're lukewarm he will spit you out...
