I know a lot of you have some great pets. Max loved his lil puppy. Great avatar. Shoes dog is a champ. And I try to pimp out pics of my old boxers at any chance I get. So here's your chance to show of your buddies. Whatcha got & whats their names?

I had 2 boxers. Daffney & Evander. They LOVED riding in the truck with me. They LOVED drive thrus because I'd always order 2 extra cheeseburgers. 1 with extra pickles for Daffney. They would jump up to grab figs off my fig tree to eat. They even liked smoked oysters & sardines. Would eat anything and love it.

Only bad thing is stinky death farts after I fed them McDonalds Angus Mushroom & Swiss burgers.....never did that again.

So some pics & videos I have. Daffney has the mostly black face. Evander had white in his face & loved pancakes.

I'll start with Daffney.

And this was before the ex-wife would let them sleep in the house. Was so fucking cold in the garage. I wrapped them up in a down comforter and I swear & promise they didn't move all night. they were exact as I left them when I woke up to check them in the morning. they weren't dumb. They knew it was fucking cold if they get unwrapped.

I actually prefer dogs with MUGS you can squish. Boxers, pugs, bulldogs, mastiff, etc. Big squishy jowls & droopy lips. The smooshed type faces. I don't know why, just kinda more fun. My parents had a greyhound and it's nose was so thin & long. Couldn't squish it at all.

Hey Shoes...question about Emily. Since she is highly trained, can or do you still like play with her, roll her on the floor & rub her belly type stuff? I ask because my dad had a golden retriever and once she went away & came back from hunting dog school, we weren't allowed to play with her like that any more :( My dad said it would ruin her training or something. (I still did it anyways when he wasn't around)

Hey Sada, you should nickname Daffney "Fang" after that first photo, lol.

Here is my pal Buddy. He is 8 years old, and I can't imagine life without him. I never had any kids, so I consider him my furrkid. My Number One Son with 4 legs and a tail, lol.

He has his own unique personality, like all dogs, and the interesting thing is how over the past couple of years I have gotten to a point where I understand him so well, it is as if he talks to me.

And when he is telling me stuff (even around other people), I talk to him like I would any normal person, and he understands and responds accordingly.

His main job is Early Warning Officer, as I live out in the forest, and he lets me know when a strange car is driving down the road, or if there are deer, foxes, or other critters in the immediate vicinity. He loves everybody, and, well.......he is my Buddy.

Isn't it fucking weird how that happens? I got that way with Evander when it was just me & him for a couple years. He understood everything and I could tell his mood & what he wanted to try & say to me. Nothing like the bond between man & dog.

Buddy looks so happy. Kinda wolf-like too. very cool. Awesome pup!

In general Buddy is a happy boi. But then, that is because I love him to death, and he pretty much has no worries or problems. I think he is some kind of Sheltie mix, but the other strange thing is that he has a purple tongue....so there must be some kind of Chow in his ancestry....he stands 2 feet tall....weighs about 40 pounds.

One of his foibles (and mine)....I don't believe in this crap the experts say about "you should feed your dog at exactly the same time every day..."

Hell, I just keep his dish full...and he eats when he wants....and when he has had enough he just stops.....unlike some dogs who would continue to eat until they exploded.

I don't think he has ever had to worry where his next meal comes from.....so he just eats a bit and then walks away....when his dish is empty...I fill it....he is very sensible in many ways...

Sure, she's all dog, as much as a spoiled princess will be. She loves belly rubs, playing with her toys, sleeping on the bed and couch and countersurfing.. While she's showing, she can't go out and get all muddy, but she was any ordinary dog after she had t hose pups. And now that she's retired, she'll have a lot more freedom to be "just a dog".

This is my 19 and a half year old, Pepper. We got her when she was a wee little baby. Someone had taken her from her mommy way too early, just three weeks old, and then found out she was allergic to cats. As if taking her from her mom before she was weaned wasn't bad enough, the bitch named her REBA!!! Fuck that!!! Took me three weeks to find the perfect name for her, but Pepper occurred to me while listening to BloodSugarSexMagic. She's a total snob, but she's still awesome.

And this little shit is Onion. Well, she ain't so little these days. She's grown quite large because she can't keep her face outta the food bowl. She's just 2, but she outweighs Pep by 12 pounds. This cat thinks she is a dog, she runs, pants, begs, and plays fetch better than any canine I've ever seen. She will bring her mouse, drop it at our feet, and just beg for us to throw it. After a few minutes of simple back and forth fetch, she will then take a different route to bring the mouse back. If she gets tired of that, she will leap up and catch it mid-air. Her massive size doesn't stop her from catching almost three feet of air.

-if you met him, you would notice his snout is a bit longer than std Sammy, and his rib to hip torso is a bit longer than std, he also has some longer hairs from momma than a std. Sam, he has fooled many Samoyed lovers until they take a good look

Does he actually have two different colored eyes, or is that just the lighting?

Pugs can be sneaky little bastards though... My uncle's had 2 or 3 of them at any given time over the last 2 decades or so, and he was sitting down to a barbecued steak dinner one night. Pug starts barking his head off and looking in the general direction of the front door, so my uncle gets up to see who's at the door, and the minute he leaves, dog jumps up on his chair, grabs the steak in his mouth and runs like Hell!

Ha! Buddy does something similar, but not to get food.....it is when he wants to play. I will ask him if he wants out (though I know what he wants). He will immediately run to the door and start jumping around as if he wants out. As soon as I get near the door, he runs over and grabs his squeaky toy, because what he REALLY wants to do is play! :hee:

That is some advanced thinking there. Subterfuge, lol.

thx - he should look happy - he was off leash hiking that day - (I have a ruffware pack for him-if you hike I recommend ruffware packs fwiw) he is very well behaved off leash, when people approach he sets down and lets them pass after one 'hey' unless they engage him, then it is like they are long lost family and he gets all happy and plays with people =)

I don't agree with everything Cesar Milan says about dogs, but exercise - discipline/training and praise are 3 keys to happy man/dog contractual obligations for me too , lol!

I've gotten back into raising a fresh water fish called a discus.

They are the king of the aquarium, named discus because of their shape.

They are the only fish that have fry that must feed on their slime coat the first couple weeks after hatching.

There are dozens of color varieties and you can cross strains to get a certain looking fish .

They require daily water changes of at LEAST 50 % for good health.

With good care they can reach 6-7 inches in circumference .

Some of these puppies can cost more than a pure bred dog of any breed.

I've kept them on and off for about 15 years .

I have hundreds of pics and vids if anyone is interested just ask.

If you look close in this first set of pictures you can see the fry on the adults backs feeding.

These are called red turquoise discus.

http://img.tapatalk.com/47dde6d2-5ae5-dd40.jpg

Here are some of the fry from that pair at about 5 months old.

This is another pair of adults I have , they are called stendker leopards and when I got them, they were only the second pair of leopards in the united states.

I've had a few reef tanks, I'll try and dig up a few pics.
Believe it or not I sold a reef tank I had back in 2001-2 and the creator of married with children bought it from me. He sent a Ryder truck and two guys to get it. I had it for sale for less than a hour on a reef site called reef central and it sold.
That tank had what were considered endangered corals in it that I fragged and sent to a world organization that propagated them somewhere in the carribean and relocated them on a undisclosed reef somewhere .

I had that tank for about 10 years.

Reef tanks are extremely beautiful if done right and like you said can be time consuming.

They are pretty easy to take care of, I enjoy changing water every morning while drinking a couple cups of coffee.
Yep some of these fish can cost an arm and a leg, I've seen people buy fish for a grand a piece and buy a dozen at a time.

New strains bring top dollar, especially if they breed true, and are by a top breeder.

I have heard of fish going for 5 grand a pop.

Too rich for my blood :)

Pussy, pussy, pussy....surely Diamond Dave would have something to say about that much pussy!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bigwink:

And yes, I have a lot of cats, 13 now, as you can see in the photo. All they have in common is that they needed help to keep alive, I rescued them, and try to find a new home, and if I cannot find one, they stay with me. They have their own room at the apartment. They give me a lot of work and love. Cats and dogs have a terrible life and death at the streets here, and the government does nothing for them.

My buddy had a huge saltwater tank and needed a bunch of either snails or crabs to keep it clean. Anyways, he bought a handful of very exotic hermit crabs. One morning water skiing in Mission Bay (San Diego) I grabbed a handful of our local sludge water ghetto hermit crabs. Delivered them to him & we dropped them into the tank.

Within 3 days they had muscled the exotic crabs out of there awesome shells & moved in. The exotics had to take the crummy ghetto shells. LOLOLOLOL!!!

My friend never let me give him crabs again.

Not an official pet. But I saw this little guy at night hopping around & unable to fly. I knew he was gonna get hit by a car or eaten by a dog or cat. So I got a bed sheet and trapped him against a fence. Put him in a large rubbermaid tote. Next day called all the local shelters/rescues but they all would have put him down. So I let him live in my garage. I'd go every single day to the pet store & buy a live mouse. Then I'd set it free in the garage and the owl would swoop down & munch on him. yummy! He also ate live grub worms like candy. When I could corner him, he would let me hold him without clawing or biting. All the neighborhood kids got to pet him too.

He would stay up on the garage door railings and once he was flying pretty well I took him to set him free. I found a great place out a ways where they grow sod. Big open fields with probably a lot of mice to eat. Not sure if his wing ever healed 100%, but I like to think that the 3 months he recovered in my garage at least gave him a fighting chance out there. Better chance than had I done nothing.

:( was sad to let him go. Such a cute lil thing and can't believe how docile he was to hold. I mean really, how many people can say they actually held or touched an owl? That's why I wanted all the kids around to get the chance to meet him. He was a burrowing owl. They live in the ground like gophers.

He would fly into the little office room in the garage & land on the tv or couch. The mice he would eat on top of the pool table.

My Jameson (aka Jamie) fits that bill. He's a bullmastiff.

Maine Coon cats are great ! big paws and whisps of hair between the toes is the give away I am told, had one for 16 yrs - he was one cool cat !

I am a dog guy and never thought I would enjoy a cat - but that breed is not your typical domestic feline - very personable and for me he was easy to train with commands - even outside that cat would come when told to come here - get down when told to get down and for about 5-10 min. he would let me give him a bath until he had all he could take and couldn't take no more lol!

EXACTLY!

That's why I wanted those kids to come over & meet him and be able to touch his head. Hopefully they take that with them & someday in the future when they see an injured animal they do the right thing. But honestly, having him was for mostly selfish reasons. I fucking dug it!

I hear barn owls scream at night when flying over and on rare occasions the moonlight hits just right & I see 1. So sad when I see a big ass barn owl on the side of the road. Those fuckers get HUGE! I had never heard of a burrowing owl before I found this little guy.

Funny, but forever after I had him, if I said the word "bird" my dogs would look up like they did to the garage rafters.

*oh, I had an apartment in the city in Pacific Beach. From my apartment I could see 2 billboards back to back. A family of barn owls lived in between them. I would get the binoculars & watch them 1 spring. Such amazing things.

very "jurassic" ;) billie's "pyramidding" is actually a defect. it's due to a coupla things, lack of uv light, improper diet/lack of vitamin d3. http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/reptilesgeneral/a/metabolicbd.htm

she has mbd in her back legs also, however, she's been "livin' right" for almost ten years now and has made great improvements. most keepers agree that a normal life span for these is around 80 years.

So weird man. Driving through the Mojave from San Diego, through El Centro & then up the middle of nowhere to Blythe.....we always saw just random out of nowhere signs that said "tortoises are protected" with a pic of one. I never knew we had desert tortoises out there. never saw one either. We thought it was so weird. Only turtles I'm familiar with are the big sea turtles down in Baja. Sad thing though when the fishermen set up illegal nets to catch them & do....well, you can probably guess. Such awesome creatures.

*I always dig that show where the millions of baby turtles are making a break for the water trying to avoid all the sea gulls along the way. Run little guys, run!!!! Always pisses me off that the camera crew doesn't shoo away all the birds & let the babies have a clear path to the water.

Here is the owl I got a picture of in October. This photo is severely cropped.

I was shooting photos of the sky using my Nikon and a laptop. About 5 AM, I decided to call it a night.
Was taking the camera off my tripod when the owl hooted only about 30 feet from me. LOUDLY.
Scared the crap out of me. Well, I turned my Nikon on, set it to auto, which would make the flash work in the darkness, and I just spun around and took a photo. Sheer luck that I got a photo of it.

He is such a big goof. He weighs about a buck twenty and sits right on my lap as if he was a toy poodle. Super gentle too. I can do whatever I want to his mug, as long as he is getting my attention and I am physically touching him he is as happy as hell. Yup, he is male. ;)

We have "snuggy time" on the couch every night. I put on an old T shirt and sweatpants (he drools like crazy) and he literally jumps onto my lap and we watch TV. All I have to do is say "up" and he jumps off.

He is well behaved/trained and has to be. He is super strong so I had to make sure he responds to verbal commands. I just love him. Can you tell??

I wish I could afford (to feed) more bullmastiffs. I would love at least one more, and would recommend the breed to anyone who can take the time to train the puppy so they can enjoy the dog.

Cannot say enough how much I love my dog, and dogs in general. I have many dog friends. In fact, in my neighborhood out in the stix I have 8 dog friends spread over 3 of my neighbors homes, lol.

Cannot say what kind of owl that is....they have a unique sound, sorta like a cross between the hoot of a great-horned owl, and the cooing of a turtle dove.

I cannot go more than a few months without hearing them. Sometimes I have heard them having a meeting....where there would be 3 or 4 of them hooting and cackling in a tree for hours at a time.

I have seen one at dusk once....I actually attracted the thing. It was hooting nearby, and I have learned to do a pretty close imitation of one....so I hooted at it, next thing I knew here comes this big brown owl with a round head flying right by house and landing in a tree about 30 feet away. I stepped off my porch and hooted at it again....and it looked at me...saw I was not an owl, and flew away, lol.

Hi, I love dogs so much also.
I will show you a photo of my dogs , the first from the left itīs a male I found some years ago, lying in the street hit by a car, or more. He was in shock, hypothermia, multiple fractures, both femurs, pelvis, bladder rupture, hemoperitoneum. He needed intensive care, he was so badly injured, he could only have surgery more three terrible weeks later, a steel prothesis in the bone to stabilize the fractures, etc.
Now he is a very happy dog.
To his right is a very old hairy dog, I also found her hit by a car more than 15 years ago!!
At that moment she was like 5 years old, so she lived a lot, she passed away quitely last November.
The dog on the far right is a "guest", they live in private refugee with more dogs (almost 40). They are so happy when we visit them. They are so love giving.

Those eyes. Not sure if he is gonna eat me or roll over to have his belly rubbed. I used to clean swimming pools & met many strange dogs. Always had a pocketful of dog cookies to make quick friends. One big dog I was scared of I actually bought a pig leg bone every week for him.

I'd buy Nico a pig leg bone. :)

Funny though. The only dogs I have been bitten by in my entire life have been tiny little yippy dogs. Poodles especially. It's all in how you raise them. Problm for pits is the type of person who buys them gets them to fit an image. They are not proper pet owners, they simply want a tough guy accessory. I always stick up for pit bulls in comments sections when there is a story of an attack. If every dog bite in your city each day made the news, that's all it would be....dog bites. But they don't report when a shepard, lab, retriever, poodle, etc...bite someone. Very unfair.

Those eyes. Not sure if he is gonna eat me or roll over to have his belly rubbed. I used to clean swimming pools & met many strange dogs. Always had a pocketful of dog cookies to make quick friends. One big dog I was scared of I actually bought a pig leg bone every week for him.

I've been an unofficial pro-pit activist for 10 years now. It is all in how you raise them. He passed obedience school with flying colors as a puppy and he's been an amazing older brother to his 2 younger human sisters ever since. In all of my life, I have not known a more intelligent dog. Most people only know of the bad stories. I've got nothing but good things to say about my dog. I only wish I had more time to play with him.

Funny you should mention that. I go to a 7-11 and I lock him in 'cause I'm affraid some A-hole will try to steal him and make him fight. He's friendly and trusting. If he were approached with a smile, he'd smile right back. "Sure I'll come with you. Just so long as I'm back by dinner time. Where are we going?" Yeah, can't let one of my worst nightmares happen.

Katina...I was so interested in the weird bird you posted that I had to look it up. See if this is the same. I think it might be called a Guira Cuckoo.

"The Guira is a cuckoo related to anis. It is one of the most common birds of Brazil, absent only from the continuous forest of Amazonia. It has a hirsute orangey crest and measures 40 cm. "

"found widely in open and semi-open habitats of eastern and southern Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, and north-eastern Argentina."

Wow. what a cool looking bird. I honestly don't know the name or what type. Look kind of like a cross between a hawk & a parrot. Never seen anything like it.

Finally I found it!!! :high5: Itīs name in spanish is Guira-guira, commonly "pirincha". In English is Guira Cuckoo. You can find it in www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/guira_cuckoo
It is from Southern Brazil, Northeast of Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay. Itīs a "sudaca" bird!! Beware with this word.....!!
Sudaca, in spite of its etymology (sudamericano, "South American"), is a derogative term used in Spain for all Latin Americans, South American or Central American in origin.

Your Daffney is so lovely...:yankeeros also Evander. I cannot let the cats sleep on the bed, unless I want to sleep on the floor...but if a cat or dog needs special care they could stay at the bedroom or bed.
Yesterday I posted a photo of my two dogs, one of them was badly injured, he coulnīt stand up, he laid alongside my bed, howling in pain until he could go to surgery. Luckily he recovered very well.

I do not stay friends with the type of people that say things like "it was just a cat. or it was just a dog" when telling you to get on with your life. These are people that have never known the true unconditional love you can only get from an animal. I feel sad for them.

Makes the bed kinda tight quarters when I'm trying to squeeze in there with them all. Definitely stayed warm though.

Whoa. That's pretty cool. I've also seen dogs they take in to childrens hospitals too. Something about that unconditional love & kisses they get no matter how bad off they are. No hair, pale skin, sickly, tubes in the arms, severe burns......and the dog doesn't give 2 fucks. Just wants kisses. Dogs are better than most people.

Man that sucks. I'd say I'm sorry but that's kinda weak for a time like you had. Seems when shit goes sour, everything goes bad with it. Cats are pretty good at being independent though. They'll find a way to survive. They don't really need us people like dogs do. So hopefully knowing that eases the memories a little.

Sadaist, you wouldn't want another boxer, would ya? Someone left theirs at a semi-local shelter. Poor thing. His name is Sammy. He's 8 and terribly depressed. I know he's across the country, but there are networks that transport animals to new far-away homes. Hell, I'm trying to adopt a kitten from California. I know it's strange, but he had some special needs and his adorable face just tugged, or more like yanked, on my heartstrings. I probably won't be able to get him, but I just had to try. They didn't say no...not yet, anyway.

Speaking of which, today, via FB, I heard about a 15 y/o cat in LA that was left at a shelter because her owner had to be put into a nursing home. She was down to her last few hours before she was to be euthanized. I had a contact via the kitten I'm trying to adopt so I sent word to them. Within 45 minutes, they had her. So sitting at a laptop all the way in SC, I played a small part in saving the life of this kitty in California. FB isn't all bad :)

I wish I could. I am currently between residences and the nights I choose to save the $50 motel cost and sleep in my truck aren't very pup friendly. :(

There is also a boxer rescue place in LA. They have a page for their seniors. So sad. A lot of dogs were just left at foreclosed houses when the people got evicted. Just left to fend for themselves. Horrible.

I Own a Tiny Dog
... and I'm DAMN Proud Of It!

http://www.tmz.com/2012/03/06/eddie-van-halen-dog-pet-small/

Eddie van Halen says he's NOT ASHAMED by his fragile, cutesy-wootsy little pomeranian doggie ... despite his macho rock-god image ... telling TMZ he loves the little guy, no matter what other people think.

EVH was out in NYC last night ... cradling his poochie Kody on the way from his hotel to a waiting tour bus. The footage shocked some of the people in our newsroom who expected the rocker to own something a little less ...um ... Paris Hiltony.

But sources close to the dog tell TMZ ... Eddie has a strong bond with Kody ... and takes great care of his pet ... walking him, feeding and loving him every day.

Still, we're told Eddie has one rule -- he won't pick up the dog crap. He is a rock n' roll god after all.

Anyways, in a body cast you just lay there. So my mom sent my sister & brother to get me a companion. Well, it kinda had to be something that was not very active, didn't really wanna play, and couldn't get away. I think my mom was thinking like a small caged mouse or a goldfish.

So? They came back with a big ol fat tarantula! (Mom was pissed!) I'd grab him & plop him on the chest of my cast. He'd watch tv with me all day. Ended up having him another 3 years. Cool pet. Thing is I wouldn't dare pick one up nowadays. but at 8 years old I was fearless with critters. Held him all the time. He looked exactly like this kind....

^Those things are my biggest fear. I can't even look at that pic. :behindsofa:

Actually, large flying creepys are what get to me. June bugs, flying praying mantis, horse fly, beetles, other giant unknown nasty fliers, etc... ugh, I fucking flip out when they are anywhere near.

With the exception of dragonflies. I like them.

Imagine if spiders had wings? I'd never go outside.

Sniper and I have two awesome Kitties named Yellow Belly and Smokey...
Yellow Belly is more like a dog than a cat, I think. He comes when he is called, walks on a leash, and follows Sniper everywhere. Smokey is still a baby, but YB is getting her trained too.
The girls made a crown for YB this day, and he was the King...the cats kind of rule the house :-)

:( That's horrible.

When I cleaned pools I came one day to a customers house & the old female boxer was gone. i asked what happened & was told she drowned in pool. Husband found her & jumped in trying to save her but was too late. I'm glad I wasn't the one that found her. She was my Wednesday morning buddy too when I cleaned that pool. :(

LOL @ X-mas Yorkie balls.

Cats and dogs can be good friends, when my dog Suo, (dog in lithuanian) recovered from the surgery and could walk again, as he needed more space I had to introduced him to the cats!!:angel10: And they lived together without problems...incredible In fact Suo made his best friend a young male cat, they played, eat and slept together, i will try find and post a photo of them.
I found the photo , Bronius a male cat is trying to hug my dog Suo.
http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/5325/imagen083m.jpg

Always the dog ate first, but before touching his food, he showed his teeths grunting, walked to grab Bronius from the neck and carrying him like a puppy, sat him in front the meat bowl and wait for him to eat first. LOL

Just incredible, but you know that sometimes friendship could turn into love.........

Nice! I hate going to rescue shelters or websites because I want to adopt them all. And right now I can't even take 1. But I have been stopping a couple times a week at local pet stores that sell puppies. Just to get 15 minutes or so of some puppy time to carry me through. Yesterday was 2 English Bulldog pups.

Boxer rescue LA is where I will get my next pet. I will probably take a senior so it can live out it's final couple years being spoiled with McDonalds burgers and lots of fluffy pillows to sleep on. Plus they need to be rescued more because most people want young dogs. And many of these older dogs have had a rough life. Would like them to experience some real love before their time is up.

It seems like a really great facility. They try to put videos of each dog up. But they have some that have been there close to a year. That makes me sad.

Hey Sparkie...good job saving the kittehs. My mom gave me this little book of avice sayings back in the early 90's or so. Just simple 1 or 2 sentence things. Fun little book. I remember one of them said....

If you ever have a kitten, get 2. Two are no more trouble than one, but ten times the fun.

And Kristy, if you are still browsing this thread, I saw a puppy at the pet store yesterday that looked just like yours. Was stretched out so far out on it's back that's it's big pink belly was begging to be rubbed. So I obliged. So cute. Weird thing though, the pet stores now have hand sanitizer and make you sanitize between handling each puppy....every time. I swear I had to use that crap 8 times yesterday.

And anyone notice that you never see or hear about Dobermans any more? Man, in the 1980's they were all the rage. Then in the 90's it switched to Rottweilers. But I swear I don't think I have seen a Doberman in 20 years.

All my life I rescued animals from imminent death. When they recover to good condition again, I look for a new home for them, and they stay with me if I cannot find a new one. I refurbished a room with "glass bricks" (to bring light to the room), and "porcellanato" for the floor and walls for easy cleaning, you can see it at the photo I posted. Now I have 13 cats, they are a very happy family.

Remember that you created this thread....:lmao::lmao::lmao: So talking about giving life..... Having so much cats at home and lot of work, is good to have a break and rest. 5 years ago I went for holidays at a nice seaside town 400km. from Buenos Aires, and late at night coming back to the cottage was a big and beautiful hairy cat waiting at the door, I gave her some milk and later she rushed into the bed and....voilá!!!
Beneath all that hair was a big belly with 5 kittens. That was really hard work, the bed was a mess , to save them I had to buy all the employeesīs silence with big tips, they found a safe place in the garden, I bought a box, blankets, food for them and leave money for their needs, each year I come back to the same place (itīs a Timeshare), all kittens grew and live in the surroundings.
I still think why the cat waited at my door???? There were more cottages....a lot more to choose.

Nothing I can say here. I have gone through it with my boxers and it hurts as much now as it did then. Thank you for sharing the photos. If you are up to it later, I'd love to see some more with maybe a couple of your best stories. And they are NOT just pets. They are our friends and family members. When you are close with an animal to the point where you both understand each other just by looks you know it's way more than just some dumb animal. Way more. That unconditional love no matter if you are ugly or pretty, clean or dirty, fat or thin, sad or happy, good or evil.....they love you no matter what. So we return that to them moreso than we can do with people. I think that might be why it hurts so damn much.

It's rough, but the Rainbow Bridge story is really good. Maybe that might help your wife & son a little to think about where Mauri is waiting to see them again.

Thank you all for your posts. Some how this seems to help in the grieving process. I always thought it was amazing that here is an animal who evolved from a wolf and is sleeping with us in our bed, misses us when we leave the house not knowing if
we are ever coming back, is so happy to see us when we come home like we've been gone for a year even though its been 30 minutes, and lets us become their pack leader unconditionally. Truly an incredible relationship.

I remember once growing up I had a mutt dog. She was black & brown. Kinda rottweiler colors & look. We also had a couple cats that were outside. One had kittens & bailed them. We came home from school one day & right next to the front door my girl dog was nursing all the kittens. We all freaked. So very cool that motherly instincts kicked in.

Later we had a part wolf dog & the cat had kittens again. But he ate most of them. Difference between boys & girls I guess.

Why I don't have any bugs in my house:

I walked in the kitchen to get some lunch just now and noticed my cat Rhett in the floor with his paws clasped over a Prize, with another cat looking on. He looked up at me and then back down and raised his paw to show me his Prize, then quickly covering it back up. What was under his paws? A single ant.

You can pretty much set your watch by him, about 1:30 AM he hunts down and brings me some kind of prey he has "killed", like a green mouse with pink ears, a black and white mouse with a feather for a tail or a blue jay that looks suspiciously like a Beanie Baby, all with GREEEEAAAT fanfare.

Aww sweet. I think when I'm ready to get another dog I will rescue it for sure. I go to some rescue websites and wish I could save them all. it's so sad. The home foreclose shit people were leaving dogs behind to fend for themselves. Sad. Not sure if I feel worse for the dogs or the children who had no say in the decision and lost their pals.

Glad you guys were able to save your and give them a better life. And turn them into VH fans :-)

Were his ears cropped like that? Or are they naturally pointy? Good looking pup there for sure.
