Every so often, I hear some great lines in tunes (new & old)...and Ive decided we need to acknowledge them here!

**Note: DLR/VH lines go in that forum**

First one that comes to mind....well, most of the lines in 'Knockin At Your Back Door'....(you agree, FORD? hah!)

Ghost calls to visit
With my keys in his pocket
Kisses in my mouth with his
Eyes hanging out of his sockets
My memories crumble
Under still resistance
I was torn out like pages
From the book of existence

For all his good looks
there were scars that he took

money don't matter tonight
it sure didn't matter yesterday
just when you think you have more than enough
that's when it all up and flies away
and that's when you find out that you're better off
just MAKING SURE YOUR SOUL'S ALRIGHT
'cause money didn't matter yesterday
and it sure don't matter tonight

The food will be great and the drinks will be free
and all the sexy girls'll wanna party with me
The weed will be toked and Colombian coke
Will be snorted off some stripper boobs and that's no joke

Pre-chorus
It's the party of the century that's right
Unfortunately it's tomorrow night

Chorus
I'm going to a party
Tomorrow night, tomorrow night, yeah
I'm gonna get some pussy
Tomorrow night, tomorrow night
But tonight I'm gonna jerk off (Aww, feels good!)

Second Verse
It's in Beverly Hills they got prescription pills
and Kiefer fucking Sutherland is coming to chill
They got sushi and rice, Lowembrau is on ice
In the living room they're playing naked Twister and dice

Pre-chorus 2
The security and pussy will both be tight
But I'm on the list for tomorrow night

But tonight I'm playing Angry Birds
Like a million other stupid nerds
Tonight I'm gonna burp the worm BY MYSELF!

Ponies and Clowns, they'll be walking around
Naked People having sex all over the ground
Britney Spears is making out with Christopher Walken
In the backyard Iron Maiden is rockin'
The couch is on fire and nobody cares
Charlie Sheen is winning in the bedroom upstairs YEAH!

Tomorrow night, Tomorrow Night

I'm going to a party
Tomorrow night, tomorrow night
Tomorrow night, YEAH, WOOOOOAH

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly.

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain.

You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion'
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins.

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do.

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead.

And I love when folks
Look right at me
And what I'm doing
Or have done
And lay it on about
How groovy I am
And that I'm looking grand
And every single word
Makes me think I'll live forever
Never knowing that they probably
Won't remember what they said tomorrow
Tomorrow I could be dead

You may affect the truth
You may be seen as false
You may be a king or a vagabond
You may be up, you may be down
You may sit in judgement with the rest of the clowns
You may have love
You may have hate
You may be the President Of The United States
But even you, you can't sit and hide
While the world's resources die
And this is Absolute Reality......

I've always liked this one...

"Here's a word about my ex-girlfriend - towards the end conflict off and on. And I told her one night, "Honey every time we fight I'll write a verse to this song"
Well, things got bad and things got worse, still I struggled on...So sit back and get all comfortable, 'cause this little tune's six fuckin' hours long!"

My favorite Hendrix lines... from My Friend:

Well I'm riding through la (huh),
On a bicycle built for fools
And I seen one of my old buddies
And he say, 'you don't look the way you usually do'
I say, 'well, some people look like a coin-box'
He say, 'look like you ain't got no coins to spare'
And I laid back and I thought to myself, and I said this..
I just picked up my pride from underneath the pay phone,
And combed this breath right out of my hair

Don't now the artist but heard a Cuntry song the other day that made me laugh.

"How could I kiss the lips at night that chew my ass out all damn day!!"

Mary Chapin Carpenter "The Bug"

Sometimes you're the windshield
Sometimes you're the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're just a fool in love
Sometimes you're the Louisville Slugger
Sometimes you're the ball
Sometimes it all comes together
Sometimes you're gonna lose it all

Foreigner "Cold As Ice"

You're digging for gold,
You're throwing away
A fortune in feelings,
But someday you'll pay

Thanks for the heads up, I stopped listening to Dire Straits after Brothers in Arms, so I wasn't aware they even had a version, let alone wrote the damned thing. Come On, Come On is an outstanding album, by the way.
