A recent RATT show at the M3 Festival....Ouch. I love RATT. Out of the Cellar in #6 on my list of favorite albums....but man o man....this is bad. I made it halfway through Scene of the Crime before I had to stop. If anyone gets further, tell me if it gets better.

I didn't think it was SO bad.Not what you would expect from a band at that level but not bad.Stephen Pearcy did not sound too good.At some points it sounded like they had Paul Stanley with them,Particularly in Body Talk. One thing that grated on me was Fucking this and Fucking that.I mean the guy is what 52?

I was watching some of that M3 on HDNET, not the Ratt show though....

And the band that rocked the house the most? That's right, my boys from Japan, Loudness !! Akira Takasaki, shredding like he always does !!

WTF?

Juan Croucier is back? Man I need to pay more attention. That's great though. Dangerous is an odd choice to start a show considering all the better songs they can choose from. Pearcy sounds rough but who cares. Drink more beer and PARTY! It's a fucking Ratt show. You really should be singing louder than him so you can't hear him anyhow.

Bobby Blotzer was recently at the casino near me. Pechanga casino. He was promoting his wine at the annual wine fest here. Read an article with him and he complained they don't play enough shows. Mainly because Warren doesn't want to deal with the travel & bullshit. Blotzer was saying how he could use the money & they should be taking these gigs but "you know, Warren is a rich kid and doesn't have to worry like I do".

HAHA! Croucier did some singing & sounds great. Always loved that dude. Glad he is back. Now Stephen just needs to take the shit more seriously, rest his voice & get just a little coaching. We don't need him to sound great, just not quite this bad.

It IS good to see Croucier back. They're as close to the original line-up as they can get now, and Carlos is an excellent replacement for Crosby. Funny how different Juan looks these days - case in point, I was at a party several years back and the conversation somehow turned to Ratt, and people started bagging on them. I said "I dunno, man - I always thought they were kinda cool. Warren is great an has killer Charvels, Croucier's a good bass player and showman, Pearcy's... unique sounding (etc)", and afterwards some non-descript dude walks up to me and says "Thanks, dude, that really meant a lot." I was like "Uh, sure!" and he walked back to the bar...I turned around and my friend goes "You know that was Juan, right?" Nope, sure didn't... completely unrecognizable at that time!!

AWESOME!

I remember when I first saw the Behind The Music I couldn't believe it was him. Thought it was a manager or something. But damn happy he is back. The 80's Ratt Juan was always groovin' around like a front man. He was having as much fun up there as the crowd.

This is original Ratt line up now. Robin is there in spirit and I think would approve of Carlos. Carlos is a good dude unlike a Vivian Campbell. And Carlos has no band to go back to so it's a perfect home for him. I am very happy with Ratt now. Just wish Pearcy would take it a bit more seriously.

I played a bit more and it does get a bit better as it goes along. They don't seem to be singing the same tune the first couple of songs.

I read some complaints from Stephen about Warren on the last tour, about Warren refusing to play any different set lists. The band would want to play some lesser known tunes and he'd always want to play the same set every night.

I always liked Ratt. Good time music. I think Juan is back for a few gigs just to see how things go. I don't have any problems with Pearcy,a lot of miles among other things on that voice. They all appear healthy. I thought Infestation was a great comeback disc for them. My 2 cents....

Loudness kicking some ass. Didn't know their original singer was back. Akira Takasaki was once dubbed Japan's version of EVH.....:killer:

I've seen worse RATT stuff online, I haven't seen them live since 1986 but Pearcy seems to always let them down. Juan Croucier(I would never have recognized him) helps a bit on this.

Nowadays when I see RATT it always reminds me of the Wrestler movie where basically they are used to epitomize washed out 80s, a mixture of nostalgia and sadness.

I like the setlist though and I would go and see them if they came here but I would make sure I had a fair amount of booze before the show.

Set List -
Dangerous But Worth the Risk 00.33 | Scene of the Crime 3:54 | In Your Direction 8:59 | Wanted Man 12:44 | I'm insane 16:16 | Lay it Down 19:45 | Lack of Communication 23:02 | Way Cool Jr. 28:03 | You Think You're Tough 32:35 | Nobody Rides For Free 36:12 | Body Talk 41:29 | Back For More 47:05 | You're In Love 54:05 | Round And Round 58:40

LOL!

What you didn't mention is the song writing. They started repeating themselves but they were better song writers than most of the rest of their generation.

Blotzer was saying how he could use the money & they should be taking these gigs but "you know, Warren is a rich kid and doesn't have to worry like I do".

Anyone know why Warren would be rich?

I wouldn't have thought any of them would be with their lifestyles back in the day and the shitty record contract they probably signed. I thought he was into blow back in the day which is not a way to stay rich on 1% of 90% of or whatever he was on. Can RATT writing royalties be enough to make him rich and Blotzer poor?

I checked out the whole thing after work...the band is tight as hell, Croucier fell right back in as if the last 21 years didn't happen. Even with the not-so-great audio mix you can tell the guitar tones are killing...(so was Akira's, for that matter). Anyway, I kinda hope they resolve their differences and Juan continues on with them, it looked like he was having a blast, and misses it. And with him doing backup vocals it sounds more like you remember Ratt sounding except for Pearcy struggling. :umm:

To Sesh's point, the "(etc)" part was about their tunes being catchy - pretty sure I mentioned "Lay It Down" is one of the coolest riffs EVAR... :D

I've gotta look for the Lynch Mob and Dokken sets...hat would've been a cool show to go to just for all the guitar freakdom alone!

Maks me curious too. The interview with Blotzer, the way he was speakng was like Warren was from a very wealthy family and full of old money. But I'm not sure. Just my feeling from it.
