Seein' as how this isn't the norm for my area I yelled for him to stop. And the guy was actually nice enough to stop and speak to me. Glow sticks were prominent. He carried on until I yelled that his friends were on his three o'clock (I could hear them calling for him over my right shoulder). He immediately yelled for them and made his way back up the street. Too fuckin' weird man...

I doubt soldiers that are nice enough to take the time to talk to you are going to shoot the citizens if their orders come in to do so. They would have to replace the regular military with a bunch of mercenary thugs or fill the military up with a bunch of soul less riff raff. Also, the military swears an oath to protect the US Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic. It's pretty well understood the domestic enemies threatening the constitution would be rogue politicians trying to take over. Also, "I was following orders" never saved anyone at the Nuremberg trials. So if you have some constitution breaking numb nuts in Washington giving out Hitler type orders it not only flys in the face of the constitution but against good sense and doing what is humanly right. That military oath is a wonderful thing and gives the people in the military something decent to stand on when Washington is so full of slime.

I called them - twice - and they said they didn't know anything about it. I lived a couple miles from the main entrance to Edwards Air Force Base In California for years. The space shuttle flew right over my house every time it landed at Edwards. There would always be two sonic booms that would rattle the house every time right before it came into view.
I'm used to sonic booms since I lived in the Antelope Valley over thirty years. I could see the flight line at plant 42 from a place I worked for almost ten years. They built the shuttle, the stealth bomber, the stealth fighter, the B-2 and I'm pretty sure they even built the SR71 Blackbird at plant 42. If you drive from Lancaster to Palmdale on Sierra Hwy they fly right over the road low enough to feel the heat from the exhaust as they are taking off.

Given the last incident had no explanation... I'd suggest dialing 911 next time these guys are spotted and report armed men in the neighborhood with assault rifles. If it's a legit military exercise it shouldn't be in residential areas... without awareness of local law enforcement. If they are trespassing... post a few of those cheap No Trespassing signs in your front and back yard... then call em in if they show again.

This could turn dangerous... for any party in the area... homeowner sees armed guys grabs gun pops off a warning shot... Doubtful if this was a legit military drill they'd be carrying live ammo, but if they are then how are they going to react when Joe 6-Pack engages?

If they aren't military then you have a very dangerous situation in your hood... if you have concerns about your local law enforcement... potentially in collusion with these guys... I'd say at least an exploratory call to the FBI would be a consideration on my mind.

I live among the Ozark hillbillies and weirdos... most are just deer and duck hunters in cammo outfits. But if I were to observe or encounter armed folks at night in my rural residential area... I've haven't come across that scene in a movie yet. That was in the early nineties. I actually witnessed the real thing once coming home from a Dodger game. We were gonna drive through In N Out in San Fernando but changed our minds when someone in the car in front of us popped off a couple rounds toward the people at the walk up window. We pulled over. The car with the shooter sped off. I'm pretty sure no one was hit. It happened so fast I didn't even think to look at the license plate. We decide to wait till we got out the valley to eat.

A couple things - I called my friend whose husband is a big wig on the county police. They're gonna step up patrols, which are already stepped up because of another situation that went down in town last week. Four of the local town cops were arrested by the FBI for extortion, racketeering, etc., mostly because they've been shaking down people and blackmailing them. And we aren't talking about one or two instances. The lady I work with whose husband is the dude on the county police told me last week, same day the arrests were made, that the FBI has been investigating these guys for more than 6 months. So the county is having to pick up the slack patroling around here since most of the town police force is in jail. Google Cherryville NC police officers arrested.

And I called a county officer I've dealt with before and he came out today. I had told this dude about the last time these guys were walking around out here and he had told me that another home owner up the street had seen them too. So I told him about what my buddy saw last night and he said the county will definitely step up the patrols - for what it's worth. Of course, I'm probably gonna get nabbed by the gubment and tossed into one of those FEMA detention centers now :biggrin: Wonder if they have beer in those joints? :gulp:
