I was at the concert in Philly the other day and i have to tell you it was better than I expected it to be. About 30 minutes into the show they play Jump....... Now all the songs played prior to this were Hagar recordings. I heard the intro music and then i heard one of the worst versions of jump ever. It was just not the same with out Diamond Dave. And if anyone else has been to the concerts in this years tour how many frickin shirts does he go through in the 1 show?

You mean they didn't start with Jump the second night?

That sucks though that we've now lowered the standards to the point where "better than I thought it was gonna be" is supposed to be a compliment.

Hey Lou, you'd better hurry because you were only 3 yrs.old when Jump hit the airwaves.

We all know you're just so curious to see Eddie and Alex. Why don't you very quietly sneak out from your parents to see the BEST FUCKING BAND that ever was.

Look past Mr. Hagar and concentrate on THE BAND. I really think they are going to be famous. Why, the band is even older than you! Meanstreet was actually their finest hour, but, hey you were only a "twinkle in your mother's eye".

If you start saving money every week from your paper route, you might catch them, before Eddie becomes a heroin addict.

Well you obviously think the band was a trio plus a singer from day one, and that's just sad. Especially since you lived it. God damn it I am so tired of this bullshit like "You weren't born yet." I guess then I can't appreciate Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms then huh? None of us can under that logic.

Nigel...could you please put some more effort into your unsolicited attacks on Lou...anyone can lurk here and get their ammo from ZahZoo and Brett posts.

Dont be lazy.

I caught Van Hagar in Denver. Sorry Army folks, but the arena looked pretty full to me... and I don't think I will buy any crap about them being Freebie tickets either, cause the ticket sales line was packed.

The concert was really good. It would have been better had it have been Dave; but even though I hate Spam simply because he replaced Dave, I have to say, he is not fat. I think maybe its just the colors he wears. Makes him appear larger than he really is...guys remember that, I think thats why neon condoms were invented. He was in really good shape and just played the shit out of the audience. Signed everything that was thrown up on stage.

Eddie looked good. Okay, he looked a little rough around the edges, but hey sometimes life will do that to you. His playing sounded great. He wore his hair down. His guitar was not all marked up. He played quite a bit solo, and for me, a classic Van Halen fan who has waited a long time to hear Eddie play again, it was quite a treat. As far as contributing to the energy of standard "concert" type show...it did little. What it did was to give it a bit more of a personal feeling. A nice touch for someone like me, but I can see where that might not appeal to everyone in the audience. He did not appear to be a drunken mumbling idiot on his last legs. He appeared to be a middle aged rock star enjoying the shit out of being on stage again. Long live Eddie Van Halen.

Michael Anthony looked, played, and acted like the same Michael Anthony I saw last in 1983. Well, okay, he may have looked slightly different...but his voice sounded great. He played with the fans, signed autographs, threw tons of pics and smacked palms throughout the whole show, and seemed to be having the time of his life. What can I say, Michael takes a lot of heat for being a tool, but of all past, present and future Van Halen members, he is the one I envy the most. Rock on Michael, Rock on...

Alex Van Halen. Stuck behind the drums for the most part. Played great. And thats all I am going to say about Alex. I am a poor sport. I went to the concert to see Eddie, Alex and Michael. I got a smile (okay, a few smiles) from Michael, I got a good smile from Eddie, but not from Alex. I am let down and dissappointed. For that reason, I will not give Alex a good review. (But in all fairness, stuck behind the drums does not give you much personal contact with the audience.)

Wolfgang Van Halen. Is he the future of rock and roll? We will see, all in good time. He played great. He seemed a little shy yet and only time will tell if the bright lights call to him or not. I did get a smile from Wolfgang, and that was a bonus. He seemed like a sweet kid. Some people may question if it was/is right or wrong for Eddie to capitalize on Wolfgang, but my opinion is that it was a real treat to see Eddies son on stage with him. Good luck and god bless, Wolfgang.

David Lee Roth. Not there. Busy in New York becoming a better person... I missed him and wished with all my heart he was there. If I could have changed anything about the concert, thats what it would be. To see classic Van Halen. There was only one Dave era song I felt like Van Hagar totally trashed, but the rest of it sounded good; it just would have sounded better have David been fronting the band. David Lee Roth...long live the legend.

Sorry guys, I wish it would have sucked and I could have given them a bad review...it just didn't.

By default you're not gonna give them a bad review because you're a Van Hagar fan. Glad you have lowered standards. Looking at that setlist I would have cried if I had spent $90 or more on that shit.

Van Hagar review on a David Lee Roth site... what the fuck is this, BIZARRO WORLD?!?!! Who fucking CARES what you thought of the show. You gave YOUR $$ to Ed, hence perpetuating his mediocre bullshit... go to the links, or somehwere else where someone gives a damn, dummy. YOU CAN'T TELL ME SHIT ABOUT HAGAR WHILE I SIT HERE AND LISTEN TO "I'M THE ONE", DICKWEED......

I am not a dickweed, and do not tell me I cant tell you shit. It was your choice to read the damn thread. It does not have a misleading title. Now please remove your caps. It is childish, annoying and very sheep like. It was a good concert. Would have been better with Dave. If I had to choose between Van Hagar and David with any of the bands he has been with since 84, or solo for that matter-I would have chosen to see Dave... unfortunately I am not sure who to contact to view the boy studying his EMT shit. Any contact info on that.?

I am very childish, annoying and very sheep like. It is a good idea for me to fuck off.. Would have been better with Dave, but I stupidly chose to support Van Hagar and not David with any of the bands he has been with since 84, or solo for that matter. I should have chosen to see gay porn, cuz "When It's Love" makes me wet... unfortunately I am not sure which team I play for... I am so sorry.

A little info for ya, Dickweed.
1. You ARE a Dick weed for coming to a ROTH website and posting a SHEEP review of a HAGAR-fronted VH concert. Every dollar that comes from a DAVE fan that goes into HAGAR'S pockets is a slap in the face of everything Dave did/does to supply Quality...
2. I DIDN'T read your thread, because I could really give a fuck about Van HasBeen, and Ronald McHagar.
3. Me using CAPS, and then YOU calling ME a sheep... dude, you should be banned for that, you fucking moron.
4. You don't like Dave, then LEAVE... don't give me the "I love Dave but..." bullshit either. You are on the WRONG site for ANY sort of niceties towards ANY comments you made about Van Hagar, and Dave being an EMT. In my opinion, an EMT is a HEROIC job that deserves RESPECT. Something sheep know nothing about... the vhlinks is the appropriate site to run your trap about Hagar, and how "good" he is...
5. YOU can't tell ME shit about Van Hagar while I sit here and blast "Hot for Teacher", dipshit. Get lost.

Scotti...I forgive you. I can tell you haven't read many of my posts. Probably because I usually stay of the bull shit arguements between morons. But what the hell, I am on vacation this week.

Here, let me turn it up so you can hear me, okay? IS THIS BETTER. GOOD.

IF YOU DIDN'T READ MY REVIEW, THEN DONT COMMENT ON IT. YOU KNOW NOT WHAT I SAID ABOUT SAMMY.

IF YOU THINK THAT AN EMT IS AN HEROIC JOB THAT DESERVES RESPECT-THEN WHY DO YOU THINK I AM DISSING DAVE BY SAYING HE IS IN NEW YORK BECOMING A BETTER PERSON? I ALSO HAPPEN TO THINK IT IS A GOOD AND HONORABLE PROFESSION AND MORE DESERVING OF DAVES ATTENTION THAN THIS GRAB FOR CASH TOURS.

FURTHER MORE, WHETHER OR NOT EDDIE VAN HALEN WILL BE AROUND OR GET HIS SHIT TOGETHER LONG ENOUGH TO HAVE A CLASSIC VAN HALEN REUNION HAS BEEN A QUESTION ON THIS SITE SINCE THE START OF THIS TOUR. UNLIKE MOST OF YOU, I LIKE TO FORM MY OWN OPINIONS. I NOW HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO DO THAT. SO BE BLIND AND LISTEN TO WHATEVER OTHERS TELL YOU. IT IS PROBABLY SAFEST.

I DONT HAVE A MEMBERSHIP AT THE LINKS...COULD I BORROW ONE OF YOURS?

AS FOR ME LEAVING. I AM A PAYING MEMBER....MAKE YOUR DONATION AT THE DOOR ON YOUR WAY OUT.

I already donated, and the links can kiss my ass... I'm sorry I didn't read your review, but the SCAN of it seemed favorable, and as a DAVE fanatic, it seems funny that you'd even bother going, instead of supporting Dave in some way... now if you ARE a paying member of TheArmy, then I truly apologize if I called you a Dickweed, or any other assortment of wacky names. We need all the people we can get to revolt towards this Sham that the Fucking Lying Dutchmen have forced on us... those guys have fucked ALL of us over for WAY TOO LONG. Keep Rockin.

No problem, I have read several of your posts throughout the past few months. I know you are an avid Dave supporter and that is the only reason I bothered to respond... most of these jerks aren't worth the time it takes.

I am a supporter of the army and of free speech, and your appology is accepted, but totally unnecessary. I appologize if you did not enjoy our little spat...I did.

I even bought a Roth Army T-shirt to wear to the concert.

I know I should not have gone. I waited till the last minute to get tickets. I met David, Eddie, Alex and Michael in 1983. It was a rough time in my life. All four of them are great guys. Thats about all I can say about that. I hope they reunite. But if they dont...I still can't hate the other three.

Man, if they don't at LEAST do ONE show somewhere, I'll fucking EXPLODE. DLR Band was great last year here in NYC. They had the Greatest Set List in HISTORY... 99.9% Classic VH, then "Yankee Rose", and "California Girls"... fuckin' KILLER. They started the set with "Hot for Teacher"... now THAT'S ballsy. Brian Young just TORE IT UP... he's pretty awesome.
DAVE OR THE GRAVE.

Yea, I was hoping Dave WOULD be doing something in New York on September 18th...my birthday is the 19th. I would have given myself a nice birthday present. But I guess that is not to be.

Uhh... if he did something in NYC, and you live in Kansas... you wouldn't see it, unless you made a special trip... but I'd tell ya about it cuz I would see it, definately.

Thats what I meant by a birthday present for myself. I want to see Dave again regardless of who he is with or what they are performing, that I would fly down just for that event. But if I didn't make it... I would appreciate the review.

DLR Band live is quite a kick ass show... It's exactly what we'd expect: Loud Guitars, Classic VH, lots of booze & chicks, and just more fun than an arena full of Hagars... Keep rockin!!
