Ok so a guilty little pleasure of mine has always been a good horror movie. Now i am talking blood and gore, slutty scream queen off the wall stuff here, love it:).From the weird loner who has a thing for Killing to the Dumb girl who barely manages to escape,I find them exiting.I know i can't be the only one here who loves that stuff :)

Anyone else share this guilty pleasure?

for sheer terror, the first alien film. notwithstanding the recent hype about that other film.

the hammer films from the 70's.

the shining. to a lesser extent the shinning. all work and no play makes homer something something.

the sentinel http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076683/

freaked me out as a kid. love it, DB!!!

I liked the sentinel. The bit at the end where the couple are asking about the neighbors, ooo creepy.Didn't they use people with actual disfigurements for the demons in the end?

I am terrified of watching horror movies. I wanted to see The Excorsist, and it took me a couple of years to do it. It wasn't that scary at all. I watched it in the middle of the day. I could never watch a horror movie when it's dark outside. Maybe if I would to watch horrors with someone it wouldn't be that bad, but all my friends are just as scared as I am. Aren't we a bunch of brave m-fuckers :D
The scariest thing I have EVER seen was some sort of documentary, about a girl in like 1800 or so, who was possessed by devil. It was so uncomfortable to watch, I couldn't sleep afterwards.
I basiclly only watch comedies, everything else effects me too much.

The strange thing is I don't think I'd had a problem with human bodyparts. Bodyparts are just dead things. It's the emotional part of it that is scary. It's stories about mental institutions in the old day, or the excorsism that are worst by far. Even Bridges in Madison County left me broken just cause they had to seperate in the end...
The human centipade would destroy me.
I saw a very creepy film once, I think it was called The Human Nature or something like that. It's not a horror movie at all, but to me it was. It was very disturbing.

EDIT: Yeah, now I see The Human Nature is supposed to be a "comedy"...

To be fair the first Centipede is not that bad in that you hardly see any blood. It does not take itself too seriously and has a whole bunch of horror cliche's.Two stupid young girls,Broken down car in the middle of nowhere,Secluded house and even a mad german doctor:)

It is the second one you want to watch out for ;)

I'm the same, I didn't get around to watching it until just a few years ago and wasn't in any way scared by it.

To be fair it's 40 years old now but I think if you don't believe in all the religious mumbo jumbo you are far less likely to be frightened the movie, after all a lot of religious tradition grew up as an attempt to frighten people.

Yeh to be honest the second one is nastiness for the sake of it "Let's see how many discusting things we can cram into 90 minuets" .It also try's to claim some artistic merit because it is shot in black and white :).My understanding is there was also a few scene's that had to be cut because they were too much.I have seen worse though

I still enjoyed the first one

I agree by the way. Demons and Freddy and Jason and Michael Myers.....they all they have their place in horror movies....but the "real" people scenarios are definitely the most creepy. Even a movie like The Strangers....which really wasn't anything great, was creepy because of the premise.

If you haven't seen Zombieland, do not pass go, do not collect $200 until you see it. Ine of the best horror movies of recent years that I have seen with PLENTY of laughs, extremely quotable, an excellent cast and a cameo for the ages.

Here's one most folks haven't seen that is quite clever, but not overly serious:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/behind_the_mask_the_rise_of_leslie_vernon/

Leslie lives in an alternate reality where Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers all actually existed and he is trying to upstage them all to become the world's greatest serial killer.

If you haven't seen the 2010 remake of Romero's The Crazies with Timothy Olyphant, that one is pretty good as well.

If you're a guy named Leslie, you kinda have limited options....

Since people are going to laugh at you anyway, you could be a comedian (Leslie Nielsen). Or come up with a nickname and become a corporate media propagandist (Leslie "Wolf" Blitzer)

If all else fails, I guess you just have to channel all that anger from getting your ass kicked every day in school (because you had a girl's name) and become a serial killer.

Never heard of this movie, but it sounds like it might be good for some drunken entertainment. :gulp:

The new The Thing is awesome! Not quite the tight suspenseful thriller of 1982. Way more action-packed. The creature's limited experience with humans and the circumstances dictated a lot more action. Just seeing glimpses of what the Thing looked like when it was discovered was spine-tingling. The movie was really scary and fun.

Am a bit partial to horror/exploitation movies ranging from, say, 1970 to 1990.

Am searching for a print of Ms. 45 at the moment. A lovely little flick from 1980 about a woman who is raped, then dresses up in a nun's habit and exacts her revenge with a .45 (hence the title).
