I can remember, with crystal clarity, being 7 and sitting on the beach with my Dad and my brother listening to a transistor radio when the news broke. I can still hear my Dad saying, "Uh oh. You're Mother's not gonna like that one."

Long live the King.

I was in my room watching TV when the news came out. I'll never forget it. My mom opened my door and came in crying and she said "Donnie, Elvis is dead." And I could not fucking believe it...

I remember sitting with my brother and listening to his Elvis 8-tracks. Elvis was my first love. I was 4 when I told my parents I was going to marry him.

I was a little too young, not yet 4 yrs old when the King passed. I do remember my father crying when Thurman Munson died and my mother absolutely going to pieces when Lennon died. In any event, rest in peace King.

Yes . Remember it like it was yesterday . I was sitting on the front porch of my buddy Jeff 's house taking a breather . I had just finished mowing his front yard . It was very hot and humid that day . The front door was open and Jeff was on the phone with his mom who happened to be at work . The news broke on the TV in his living room . I jumped up and swung open the screen door and stood there in total disbelief at what I was hearing . It hit me like a ton of bricks . Jeffs mom dropped the phone and started sobbing at work while he was talking to her . Sad stuff man . I was only 14 but I realized Elvis' magnitude . It rained very hard that night . Somehow it seemed fitting .

I am still not 100% convinced he physically died.

Sure, Elvis the singer died to the world that day, but if there was ever someone who had the money, the resources and the reason to fake his own death, he is the one.

I mean, how can a dead man fill out his own death certificate?

One of my favourite Elvis tunes, 'Kentucky Rain' from 1969.

Absolutely true... He was getting all the best pussy, and Paul was jealous.

And I heard this directly from John, George, and Stu Sutcliffe, so you know its the real deal.

Unfortunately the First Preslyterian Church of Elvis the Divine has all but vanished as a web presence. There used to be a site full of side-splitting tales of vistations from the young, svelte Elvis (who would only stop by your place if you had the 'holy items' at home, such as peanut butter and laxatives).

I did, however, find this ... one remaining vestige of the great Church.

Elvis died the day he joined the army. After his discharge, he gave us some classic rock-n-roll movies like "Clambake" and "Kissing Cousins". "King of Rock-Roll" my ass.....

Thanks Col. Tom.

Obviously it was a CIA-Army Intelligence plot to make Elvis a complete pussy... :)

Well, Col. Tom didn't kill Buddy Holly or send Chuck Berry to jail. The fact that these things all happened within a short time is one Hell of a coincidence.

But then so is the fact that Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison all died within about 18 months.

Or was it something else? Who knows? Not a lot of real evidence either way.

Didn't Brian Jones handyman confess he killed him on his deathbed?
Some beleive he did. His name was Frank Thorogood.

Yes he did. But some think he did just to say he did it. Huh ? What ? Wonder what George thought of this ?

Was that George's father?

Oddly enough George came damn close to joining the Stones himself in 1981. He was the opening act, but he was also secretly rehearsing with Mick & Keef because Woody was doing too much blow and fucking up on stage, and almost got sacked. And Keef DID punch him in the mouth once because Keef himself was too drunk to remember the intro to "She's So Cold" and Woody was too high to realize he needed to help him out.

Just an average day of work in the World's Greatest Rock n Roll Band, I guess?

Elvis didn't realize he sold his soul to the devil the day he signed with Parker. Parker killed Elvis when he stopped him from starring in "A Star is Born". If he had done it and done a decent acting job he might have gotten the Hollywood cred he was seeking. Instead he died on the toilet.
