View Full Version : 500 Admirals, Generals to Endorse Romney

Nearly 500 former military admirals and generals are poised to endorse Mitt Romney, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

The group will post a full page ad in the Washington Times on Monday. The advertisement will have the headline, “We, the undersigned, proudly support Governor Mitt Romney as our nation’s next President and Commander-in-Chief,” followed by the names of the former military commanders.

A spokesman for the group emphasized its independence from the official campaign. The Romney campaign has not sanctioned this ad buy, a spokesman said, and the members of the group are paying the fee themselves.

The spokesman added that 389 of the individuals on the list are on the Romney Military Advisory Council, too. The Romney campaign has already announced these individuals’ endorsement.

“They have 389 on their list,” the spokesman said, while “we have almost 500.”

The list comes as a Military Times survey revealed that active duty, National Guard, and military reserve members support Romney over Obama by a two to one margin. link (http://freebeacon.com/post/34912944618/500-admirals-generals-to-endorse-romney)

I own a boat so that would make me admiral of my navy... unless it's one of those days when Mrs Z feels it's her day in the captain's chair...

These people are retired and now private citizens. Military personnel are not allowed to support any politician while they're in an official capacity.

TheBlaze was sent an advanced copy of how the ad is expected to appear:

Don't give a flying fuck about some former general/admiral's choice for president. I'm not really under their command anymore, so whatever comes out of their "senile/overpaid schill for the defense industry" mouth is meaningless. :lever:

Out of all the retired military personnel they could only find 500 :lmao:

What does "poised" mean?

And Sesh is correct, the U.S. military has been an officer jerkoff-fest since WWII. If you look at the numbers of higher paid commissioned officers to NCO's and enlisted, we have a much fatter, more top-heavy military than we've ever had. I think the ratio of officer to enlisted in WWII was vastly smaller. Or was it higher? :)

It's always awesome when people who have gov't pensions, free gov't healthcare available, likely gov't-related contracting jobs, lobbying positions, or are even directly employed "double-dippers" believe in smaller gov't... :)

Are military... retired or active... somehow not citizens with a right to express political ideals?

Well that's the big trick isn't it. How do you keep the military industrial complex employed while pulling out of the wage war for profit mode? Also, how to you get people off the welfare and working without causing huge riots? I see the multi-generational welfare class and the military industrial complex as two of this nations primary problems. If you look at the huge sums of money wasted on both, you can't make me believe we couldn't raise the real standard of living for people. Of course people will have to be willing to work but then I would say most people would enjoy earning their own money. What's apparent is there is a lot of money hoarding going on worldwide. If you look at it there is a whole above us economy between the banks. They trade with each other without any of this new money coming to us. It's one reason Ben Bernanke can print so much money without hyperinflation happening. Also, they can dump excess money into the wars. So where we are is a banking/war economy with lots of welfare to keep the population pacified while the banks play high roller and stick the 53% of us that pay income taxes with the bill. Only 53% of us really have any skin in the game. The rest have been bought off.

Um, not really. Most don't support the notion of a "smaller gov't" while taking a pretty big dole from a big gov't. Do they? What have you got against teachers anyway? If it such a cushy, high paying job, by all means become one!

Probably the same racket. It's why education is so expensive with little to show for the money we put into it. The same probably for the military. Why the US is always at war is we have this big military machine to justify. It's generals and military contractors keeping their job security. These people hate peace. That would ruin their careers.

What it probably means is that these guys are now employed by "defense" contractors, and that they will make shitloads of money if Mittens is allowed to start a war in Iran like his bankroller Sheldon Adelson and his old college buddy Benny Nuttyyahoo want him to do.

I meant that there are more administrators than there are teachers. Comparing to what you were saying about how many officer positions the military has to enrolled men & women.

Not the teachers. The administrators that make six figures.

Most of the school superintendents I've met have been complete dolts. They do indeed make six figures, just over a bit. But, with the level of education demanded as well as the grief and hours to be put in there are relative few exceptional people who want to do it. It seems it's very difficult for school districts to attract quality supers that have the ability to affect change or significant improvement, and some of the ones that the Buffalo city district have are frankly fuckups and wackjobs that couldn't get hired doing anything else. There are easier ways to make six figures, and the candidates applying for many of these jobs reflect that.

But I'm just blaming teachers or administrators for this, I'm blaming shit school boards and parents who are more interested insuring their douchy kids get A's they might not deserve or get impunity while acting like complete assholes...

Still not as bad as Britain with 41 admirals but only 40 ships... :)

Even better we have 10 captains for every ship.
