Rhoad Island could break away and become another banking and money laundering state. Why just have the Cayman Islands in this hemisphere?

The Republicans would lose a shit load of electorial votes. It would guarantee a Democrat president every election.

You mean Delaware, right?

That's where all the fraudulent credit card companies have their PO Boxes that they call a "corporate office", because Delaware's state laws let them gouge their customers worse than other states. (Except Shittibank, who uses a PO box in South Dakota for similar reasons)

I could renounce my US Citizenship and move to the Lakota Republic.

Satan
11-14-2012, 08:04 PM
Don't be so sure of that. There are a faction of the Lakotas who don't care at all for whites trying to assimilate into their culture, even if they do so respectfully. I'm not sure if Russell Means was among them or not, but he recently passed away after a long battle with cancer, so he wouldn't be there to meet you in either case.

It's difficult to think of a country the teabag types would like. It can't be a Western one, they all have governments which are too big.

Couldn't be a democracy because the majority wouldn't stand for it.

I guess it would need to be old school South America before the socialists got in there - Pinochet Chile?

Somalia. Lots of guns and religious fanaticism, no regulations and very little law enforcement.

Last I heard he had beat cancer but yeah, he just passed away last month. I deal more with the Shoshone/Bannock tribe anyways. We lease some land from them.

Again, Texas wants to go, and for the first time Puerto Rico wants in: A fair one for one trade and no changes to the stars on the flag. Most likely there is plenty of oil somewhere off shore and Texas can go wither on the vine.

Nah, that's only fair if we could actually deport all the Texas Teabaggers TO Puerto Rico to get them the fuck off the continent for real

Did some reading on the history and legal aspects of secession... Couldn't find much on what any modern day official Federal Review of a secession application would involve. It's not something that's provided nor available under the US Constitution nor any amendments...

It's a subject that has been debated and challenged several times over the course of history. The general consensus and resulting legal challenges have all led to the same result. Once a state petitioned and was granted statehood... there has never been any "opt out" provision even under the Articles of Confederation established among the original 13 colonies and especially so once the US Constitution was ratified.

Oh and regarding Texas which it appears to be a long running myth of having an option for secession... The Supreme Court ruling in 1869 under Texas -vs- White established that Texas held no right to secession because it had become part of "an indestructible Union, composed of indestructible states.

So I have no idea what the White House web site We The People intends to do with these petitions for secession as such activity does not appear to be supported under the US Constitution. Could be a database to track malcontents and nut cases... who knows... but there's nothing any of the petitioners stand to gain from this.

From my research... the only other viable options would be revolution, civil war, or go apply for citizenship somewhere else.

Since these idiots don't speak for the the rest of the populations of their respective states, the secessionists should renounce their citizenship, and GTFO already.

They could try to amend the constitution, I guess.

They could try to amend the constitution, I guess.

If there are enough states on board they can call a constitutional convention and take over the government that way. That's in the constitution in case the federal government needs to be called in by the states but you have to have enough states agreeing to do it.

Nitro Express
11-15-2012, 08:08 PM
The only way you would have a serious secession movement if enough states got together and they had enough military commanders go along with it and they had use of weapons from the military. It would have to be a civil war scenario again. The middle would pack up with Texas and you would have the west coast and the northeast supporting the feds. The main resource the middle would have is oil and food. To get outside money they would have to export it and the only sea ports would be in Texas and the gulf states. The feds would blockading those. I mean when you start to look at a real secession it would be a major deal. People would really want to do it bad and you would have to have millions of people on board.

The thing is it shows where certain people stand. It shows a trend and whether it's part of a long-term trend that comes to a head later down the road can be debated. Borders change over time and countries split apart. Chances are in time the US will split apart too.

You never know where things lead. Everyone thought the civil war would be a little spat that would be over in a few days. Nobody took that seriously either.

FORD, you're the last Lib-tard who should start a thread like this, considering all the whining, crying, and shouting that your pussy hurts over the Presidential elections the GOP legally won in 2000 and 2004.

We all remember the Republic of Cascadia shit you posted and your Alec Baldwin-esque whining of how you were leaving.

YOU get over it, and remember:

Obviously anything is possible... but the way the US Constitution was framed it really boils down to the simple opening statement... "We the People" not we the states. This established that sovereignty had been transferred to the American people as a whole rather than to a group of individual state entities.

The founding fathers were some really smart guys and did some tremendous homework on establishing the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation and the US Constitution. It's hard to imagine how that brain trust came to being and created something as wonderful as our country really is.

I find this secession crap really just boils down to a bunch of immature idiots who don't like the current leadership so they want to leave the club... Rather than entertain these tantrums... I'd just as soon we show them the door.

You're partly correct. Nobody really wants to leave. All this is is a LEGAL way to show the current Administration the displeasure by certain people. Certainly they still have the right to do that?

Indeed, people have the right to peacefully voice their displeasure with the government. No issue there...

Seriously I'm really interested to see what the White House's response to these petitions for secession will be.

Clearly it's individual citizens signing these things... There is no state governments seriously considering supporting any such movement. Plus you don't even have to reside in the state for which you are signing the petition for. In many ways this is all just pissing in the wind. But I guess it does give the White House some analytics to play with...

It's an interesting read... anyone can start a petition. Maybe we should start one to have Obama issue an executive order that Sammy Hagar never perform with Van Halen again.

Looks like the counter petition for booting those that voted for secession is on track to make the vote criteria...

we petition the obama administration to:
Strip the Citizenship from Everyone who Signed a Petition to Secede and Exile Them

Mr. President, please sign an executive order such that each American citizen who signed a petition from any state to secede from the USA shall have their citizenship stripped and be peacefully deported.

Not sure your issues with Wisconsin... I lived in Iowa for a couple of years recently and took a few trips up to Door County and the Wisconsin Dells. Some really beautiful country up that way and the people seemed fairly nice and friendly.
