Porn star punks Pastor Hagee: ‘I considered flashing my boobs’

A porn star who has appeared in dozens of adult films recently came face to face with a conservative pastor who believes that “America’s hope for survival is the anointed preaching of the gospel with such force that the chains” of pornography are broken.
Larry Flynt’s Hustler provided Raw Story with a copy of Nina Hartley’s Nov. 27 column titled “John Hagee Meets With the Great Whore of Babylon.”
Hartley explains that Hagee had come to Beverley Hills in August — “just spitting distance from the Flynt building” — to tell a group of Christians about how he “went to Israel as a tourist and came back a Zionist.”
“As a Jew, I’ve long found it annoying that evangelicals are so hellbent on getting all the Jews to return to Israel—not for our own good, mind you, but to bring about Armageddon and the Second Coming,” she writes. “With ideas like that, it’s not hard to imagine what Pastor Hagee would think of my job and what that makes me in his eyes.”
Wearing a conservative red blazer and holding a copy of Hagee’s book, Hartley ventured into the event and asked if Hagee would be signing autographs.
“There are a lot of crazies in Los Angeles, you know,” she recalls being told.
“Pornhounds know no party or religious affiliation,” Hartley explains. “But if any of the attendees recognized me, they kept mum about it in this setting. The ability to compartmentalize seems to be the hallmark of ideologues everywhere. I guess it spares them potentially lethal attacks of cognitive dissonance.”
Finally, the adult film star came face to face with “the man who, given the chance of lording over the theocracy he dreams of, would probably have me burned at the stake.”
“This was the intolerant bigot who preaches that global warming is a hoax, blames natural disasters on gays, condemns other religions and regularly scoffs at women’s rights,” Hartley observes. “I smiled sweetly, extended my hand and asked him if he’d be so kind as to sign my book.”
“I briefly considered flashing my boobs,” she concludes. “But the truth is, I’m not that kind of lady.”
“I wasn’t sure I’d encountered firsthand the banality of evil, but I’d gotten a solid dose of the evils of banality.”
