This relatively unknown side project math rock band of a relatively unknown indie rock band from Pittsburgh has intrigued me for years now. Guitarist/singer Damon Che (who's actually a drummer for Don Caballero) is an obvious Eddie fan, but borrows from Ed quite artfully.

In this particular song, which I love, he applies the hammering technique to the rhythm of the song (starting at 1:13) something Ed, oddly enough, practically never did. Ed pretty much uses it for solos exclusively.

I'll post some other goodies by them that also illustrate this guys keen ability to express his inner VH nerve. On there first CD, they do an original tune that incorporates their own version of the Girl Gone Bad/I'm So Glad jam from the US Festival. On the same CD, Songs For The Terrestrially Challenged, they do a version of Secrets.

If VH were an alternative band, kinda.

Only song from the first CD I can find on the Tube. More VH flavored alt-ness.

I really like this - particularly this song, with it's tricky rhythm. The third song was also very cool - a very, very beautiful piece. I think the vocals might take time to get used to, but this dude has a tough job putting a melody over music this quirky.

I'll keep listening - cool shit.
