I have been reading up on counterfeit Les Pauls.

You can buy them under 300 bucks on the net.

Cheapass pieces of shit.

Here is a photo from the site above.....just from this photo I can see three things that tell me it is a fake, even without knowing the price:

At www.mylespaul.com forums there are two LENGTHY threads devoted to counterfeit Epi guitars as well.

Fucking Chinese are doing their best to scam people.

Same thing is happening in the coin collecting world. They will make of 1878-CC Morgan silver dollars that are actually silver-plated and will try to pass them off on eBay for big bucks.

Motherfuckers!

Here are the same fuckers selling "Dave Grohl" guitars:

Reminds me of a Hong Kong tailor shop. They would make you anything you wanted and would put any lining or tags in you wanted. They had Gucci lining. Armani lining. The tags too. You could go to the Ocean Center and pay the big bucks and buy the real thing or go down a flight of stairs off an alley and get a pretty good knock off for less.

I've seen some fake "Gibson" LP's at used gear shop. they looked new and still had "Epiphone" labels on PU's.
so I guessed fake Gibsons and Epiphones are made in the same factory.
not sure if my guess is right, because even those labels may be fakes

Since there isn't much worse than Gibson, those fakes would have to be pretty bad

Les Pauls have sucked for ten years. And their prices are fucking pathetic. I would buy one of these if I needed another guitar. But I don't. Put some nice pickups in it and beat that fucker.

That made selling them difficult too, when a $5000 guitar won't stay in tune. Wondered what's the sales chop when a customer asks the same question I would - "WHY would I spend $5K on a guitar I'm going to have to immediately replace the tuners on??"
