Just saw one of my favorite bands rip through a brutally intense hour and a half long set. Was standing ten feet from Ty the whole time. They were so tight and amazing, it's ridiculous. Ty was playing a sunburst Gibson Studio through a beat up old Marshall. First time I ever saw him with out a Yamaha. DUg was great as always. Sang lead on all but one song. Jerry was slamming away like it was nobody's business. This is a guy who suffered a severe heart attack, recovered completely then lost everything he owned to Hurricane Sandy. Very emotionally stunning show. Here's what they played:

The Groove Machine
The World Around Me
The Big Picture
Pillow
Flies
Thinking And Wondering
Vegetable
Everybody Knows (A little bit...)
Box
Black like Sunday
Over My Head
Pleiades
Over And Over
We Were Born To Be Loved

Go Tell Somebody
Dog Man

Goldilox

I met Jerry after the show and shook his meat hook of a hand. Told him he needs to make another solo album and he said "It's coming! If you liked the first one, you'll love this one!" Awesome guy. Totally high on life right now. I'll post a few pix soon.

Thanks for this, Bridge. King's X is one of these bands that are snubbed by the press but who continues to draw lots of people to their shows. Great to hear about Jerry doing fine. Nice setlist too!! Although one or two songs from Ear Candy would have been welcome!
Pinnick is a genius in his own right. Actually they all are. Ty's Safety album is one of the best pop/rock albums of the 2000's, in my humble opinion. Probably the best, even. I met the guys from Wishbone Ash in 2002 and they told me that they were all big big fans of that record...

....play this song at an extremely loud volume....preferentially in a residential area....because....this is just too fucking good NOT to share with the neighbors...

Thinking & Wondering and Box are from Ear Candy.

Vegetable from Manic Moonlight was absolutely berserk live.

Tonight was an excellent reminder of why VH is the only band I'll bother to see in an arena. A band tearing your face off in the intimate setting of a club makes for a far superior show than a cold, impersonal arena performance.

The place was packed, but when it quieted down between songs, you could practically ask the guys a question if you wanted to. Of coarse people were shouting out requests though, some of which were played. Two encores then they sat at a table and shot the shit with the fans. Unfortunately, we had to split, but was great meeting Jerry.

Fuck yes, sorry.. I browsed the setlist very quickly, to be honest.
They should play Lies In The Sand... Awesome song.

Just found this amazing documentary from 13 years ago about how these got their act together. A worthy 25 minutes to spend if you dig this band.
