FOXBOROUGH, Mass. June 11, 2013 (AP)

Tim Tebow is back on the field with an NFL team — the New England Patriots.

The Patriots announced the signing of the former Jets quarterback on Tuesday, six weeks after he was cut by New York and just in time for the start of the three-day Patriots minicamp that runs through Thursday.

Tebow practiced with veteran New England starter Tom Brady and backup Ryan Mallett. The newest Patriot wore No. 5, not his familiar 15 — which belongs to Mallett — on his shorts and helmet. The QBs wore red jerseys without numbers.

"First and foremost, I just want to thank the Patriots for giving me an opportunity. I'm very thankful," Tebow said on the field after practice. "It's such an honor to be a Patriot and play for Coach (Bill) Belichick and for Coach (Josh) McDaniels, learn under Tom (Brady), and be a part of this very successful franchise."

Two people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press that Tebow was signed for two years with no guaranteed money. One person says he will make the veteran's minimum salary, $630,000 in 2013, with incentives.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because terms of the deals had not been announced.

ESPN first reported terms of the signing.

"Anything we do, we feel is in the best interests of the team," Belichick said at a standing-room-only news conference before practice. "We'll see how it goes."

With 15 video cameras and more than 40 media members in the audience, Belichick said, "We've been in front of bigger crowds before."

Tebow, 25, is being reunited with McDaniels, the Patriots offensive coordinator who was Denver's head coach when the Broncos traded into the first round to take him with the 25th draft pick in 2010. McDaniels stood next to Tebow on the practice field.

"I'm looking forward to working hard every single day, and getting a lot better, and learning under some great people," Tebow said during his 40-second visit with reporters. "So, that's all I got. But thank you so much and God bless. I'm sure we'll be talking more soon."

Oh yeah, that'll send a message to Brady. Looks like this year's Pat's are this year's drama queens.

Saw him a few times in Jets practice. I did not understand why he was not used more, then after watching practice I got it. He can't throw a ball period. Create space he can use his legs and great reaction to flick it on the run to an open receiver but the guy can't make NFL throws on a regular basis. He looked awful in practice last year which sucked as a long sufferring Jet fan cause Sanchez is mentally weak. I hope Tebow finds success but he is a gimmick unless he learns to throw. He is a footbal player but not a quarterback

Now for another season of ESPN and every other sports media outlet to have their chance at licking Tim T-Bonehead's asshole.

Every team needs a water boy. I can already hear Brady saying "Don't forget my towel bitch".

Well, since Brett Favre retired, Rachel Nichols really hasn't had much to do...so much so, she quit and went to work for CNN. Like that is an upward career move.

He's trying to pass to JC. Except He isn't on the field (those sandals aren't up to NFL regulations, so He didn't make the team)

It's all puffery. Tebow wil be cut. Bill did one of his buddies a favor by picking up this little Jeezo douche fuck while simultaneously drumming up a little publicity. that's all

This is all due to Josh McDufus who drafted Teblow back in 2010. 2013 will put all rumors to rest that the dude can't ball once he's been knocked on his ass with an injury that will permanently take him out of the game. Who do the Pats play first? The Buffalo Bills? Okay, maybe their second opponent, The Jets.

I've come to the conclusion that Tim Tebow is the Scott Stapp of professional football. :bigwink:

Why doesn't this knucklehead figure out how to be a TE? Every time he manages a completion on third and 3, he could do the whole "kneel down and salute Jesus" routine and thus sanctify the true believers out there. This way, the rest of us could get a bathroom break, a beer or some other form of relief while this dubious exercise in futility plays out.

I like Tim Tebow. I think he just needs a job with an awful team and let him fail miserably for a year while he works out the bad. I truly think if he got an entire season to play every game that he would improve greatly and be a solid performer the following season. He has some greatness in there. It's just buried in a lot of bad form habits that can be broken. He deserves a real shot after his performance in Denver.

I just don't get all the hype about a backup Q.B. I mean who gives a fuck ! The guy won one important game in his life in the nfl, against the Steelers 2 fucking years ago ! Jim Hairball used too thank his lord in savior Jesus Christ after every game he one with the Colts. I just don't remember THAT being a big deal in any way shape or form back then. The media has been out of their fucking minds with their useless reporting about this kind of shit the last 10 years. Make's me happy I don't waste my time watching that shit as much anymore. A bunch of reporting on nothing ! I guess if that's your thing go for it. I'd rather fucking watch my car rust ! Get back to me when they start playing real games with the real starters ! !

Shit, that won't be too hard! Just send him to the Jaguars and he'll embarrass himself in front of his home state.

Well, thats partly correct. He went 7-1 in his first 8 games that he was a starter. He won 2 national championships. He won the Heisman. And after that big game you mention, he became a backup QB on 2 diff teams.

Since Denver he hasn't had a real chance. He deserves one.

You would think he could at least sign as a backup. The guy sells jerseys. He has a winning percentage as a starter and his td/int is good.
Yes I know all his wins were ugly.
He can at least work as a backup

If he is serious about playing QB, he should try to get on with a CFL team to prove he can actually play the position.

Having said that, I don't think he could be a starter here either. You do need to run in the CFL, but throwing accuracy with only 3 downs is kind of critical.

I think that is a bit of a double edged sword though. Wherever he goes he seems to cause a bit of a sideshow and even a distraction. Albeit, there are much worse distractions like shooting one of your friends in the head after a night out at the clubs. But...

Oh Jesus, he never molested boys in the fucking Philippines. Leave that to Journey. :)

His "I'm a pious Christian, and Jesus cares so-much about my fucking career and whether I score a touchdown because God has nothing better to worry about" act was beyond old. Annoy people? Yes! But he never did anything wrong or hurt anybody.

He sucks. Now he has all the free time in the world to go back to molesting little boys in the Philippines. Fuck him and the Bible he rode into town on.

I think I'd actually like Tebow more if he had some kinky, freaky personality trait that he has managed to keep hidden. Not necessarily molesting little boys hailing from the Asian rim, but something...like, even if Tebow had, say, a compulsive urge to touch himself in an unclean manner every time he saw a cross...or if he paid a masseuse to dress up as a nun and give him a happy ending...

Now he's supposedly going to be a commentator, but from the press conferences he's given, Tebow is seemingly unable to speak in anything other than standard football player clichés so it's doubtful he'll be anything to write home about as a broadcaster.

Are you sure they have time for that, between all their licking of Colon Crappyprick's asshole. Or R-gay-III (most overrated QB since ....well, since Tebow, actually) who they continue to babble on endlessly about, even when his season is over.

I mean there's only 24 hours in a day.
