The Big Bang Theory
Unfunny. So fucking unfunny. Poorly scripted. Shit acting done with shit actors. Watching the Big Bang Theory is like going to the dentist for a root canal without the anesthetic. Yeah, nerds with Asperger’s are fucking hilarious; nerds who fuck their slutty neighbor in the ass while reading comic books is pure comedy gold! Never mind the (obvious) misogyny, jokes on racism, slavery and poverty and unrealistic environments like how a waitress in LA can afford an apartment that looks like that (furnishes and all) or how university doctorates can keep other jobs without doing any work. Think of Big Bang Theory as a nerd clique for the disenfranchised who paid a lot for college but still work at McDonald’s. If you like this show then you are an asshole and your family are assholes. I seriously hate this fucking show. Stars Zooey Douchanozzel as a anti-hipster/hipster who happens to live in trendy apartment with three other men who all want to simultaneously skull fuck all the remaining gray matter out her. Zooey plays a teacher, too. Oooh, how entertaining! New Girl is Mary Tyler Moore meets Craigslist. Zooey has a fashion model for a “girlfriend” and Rob Reiner as her dad. Bitchin’ The plot is even more one-dimensional which seems to center around Zoeey’s pussy. You see, Zooey doesn’t just have a pussy, no, she has a super pussy that requires special attention but alas, there is no man out there who knows how to give it the tenderness and love it so desperately needs. This leaves Zooey in a bind every week where her and her pussy grow old together as the music of Taylor Swift plays in the background. Every week, people. Every week.

Last Man pretty much follows the same storyline plot as his previous sitcom only this time he is raising daughters while shunning feminism and favoring sexism in the process. Tim has another token wife who happens to be educated but can easily fit into the role of Ms.Stepford when the script requires it. Also has a pro-war agenda where one of the daughters joins the ROTC wanting to enroll in sniper school to “kill terrorists” for “the fun of it.”

Big Bang Theory is the new Friends...TBS plays it all the time...it's on one of your local TV stations either at 7 or 11 pm...which is the most I've seen of it, if someone has it on in the break room at work.

I quite like the Big Bang theory and scrubs is cool if only for dr cox.
But hey I don't watch a lot of tv and if I do u kinda watch what's on .
Both shows are sort of wall paper there not breaking bad etc something you plan your night about seeing .
It's sort of on when you eat your tea , plus the Big Bang is good due to penny's rack .

Penny's rack ....her left boob is clearly bigger than the right in early shows and both magically grow to larger but equal size in later episodes .
It's like carbon dating , you can date the show by the tit method. It's a little game to play while watching .

I've never seen any of these shows, except MNF of course.

Then again, I've never seen Friends, The Simpsons or a full episode of Seinfeld.

Don't watch much tv. What I do watch, I DVR and then watch late at night. Mostly automotive, home improvement (because I hate doing that shit myself) and stuff like Bar Rescue. Oh, Dexter and Breaking Bad. Used to watch True Blood but it has gone from weird to really weird.

I think it goes by ratings. Many (dismal) American TV shows are on worldwide distribution without syndication due to many American networks own the foreign market ones (like ABC, CBS, NBC) so they can put anything they want on them.

For the most part, leave the cable networks alone, they are either edgy, groundbreaking and original with their TV series, or else they do other shit like niche interests.

Sitcoms are the most ridiculous, lame, unoriginal, cheap, idiotic and foolish programming ever foisted off on a willing audience.

Episode One introduces you to the crowd.

Then every other episode without fail, one or more of the crowd has shit happen to them that would never happen to anyone in real life.

ALL THE TIME! :rolleyes:

It is like "STUPID SHIT LIKE THIS HAPPENS EVERY FUCKING DAY IN [INSERT TV SITCOM HERE]"

They tend to overindulge in casting the newest youngest, freshest faces from the TV acting world.....christ if aliens get to watch our TV programming, they will assume we are an easy target because all they will see are stupid yet beautiful plastic-looking people chattering away like magpies with a canned laugh track that erupts without fail no matter what is said.....

Don't get me wrong....I have seen my fair share of episodes of Friends, Cheers, Dumbasses, etc. all the way back to the Honeymooners on the Jackie Gleason show in the early 60s. At least THAT show had a real audience, and starred a master of comedy....

And in most of the episodes I have seen, the writing was decent comedic fare.....certainly with talented actors.....
But seeing these people trying to perform a comedy skit no matter what is going on with the plot or dialogue is so artificial. It is like EVERY SINGLE LINE is either a punch line, or a line to set the punch line up!

"How many jokes can we cram into 40 minutes of programming?"

"How many jokes can we cram into 20 minutes of programming?"

Why not just dispense with the fucking production costs! Get rid of the fucking writers, get rid of 95% of the crew.....just put a non-stop video on TV with a blank screen and the sound of people laughing!

Every 5 minutes, go to a commercial break.....then go back to a blank screen with 5 more minutes of irrational laughing and hooting.

It would cost about an hour of time in production costs to make the fucking thing.

Then there would be the standard overhead for broadcasting it nationwide.

And they could keep the advertising rates the same.

And make profits like nobody ever saw before in broadcast television.

A lot of decent TV shows have disappeared in the last few years...

House. Fringe. Lost. Burn Notice is in it's final season. So is Dexter.

Not that some of them hadn't run their course, but there's nothing worthy to replace them.

I will agree though that The Newsroom was easily the best new show of 2012, or even this decade, so far.

Isn't it about time for season 2?

Since the kid who played Jake walked away from the show in a hissy fit of religious fanatacism, the producers have been trying to find a replacement. They decided that Dead Charlie needed another kid, so there will be a long lost 19 year old daughter in the new season.

4. Pawn Stars (Bizarrely informative)
5. American Pickers (Even though they only come up with like 4 new shows per season)
6. The Glades
7. WKRP reruns on Ant tv.
8. The Walking Dead
9. Fast & Loud (OK, if you are kinda drunk)
10. Restaurant Impossible/Diners, Drive Ins & Dives/Restaurant Stakeout (All three are about as phony as a three dollar bill, yet surprisingly entertaining and fun to watch)

11. Special Mention: Bunheads on ABC Family (Brought to you by the same folks that created Gilmore Girls, this show is funny as all and includes some rather neat pop-culture references. Let's face it, if a Black Sabbath fan like me finds warmth in a show like this, you might wish to consider it.)

Shows that dropped off of my radar:

1. Deadliest Catch (Should be called the Deadliest Kvetch, for all of the whining, pissing and moaning that goes on. A pox on it and all involved.)
2. The Closer. (WTF happened to this show, now retitled with a formerly despicable woman now running things and trying to appear semi-human?)
3. The last two seasons of House. (WTF? http://freesmileyface.net/smiley/confused/crazy.gif (http://freesmileyface.net/free-confused-smileys.html))
4. Chopped (Competition cooking...a genre that makes one wish to wretch in the first place, based on crap in a basket like crayons, Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers and a can of tuna fish. OK, make a meal!)
5. Hustle/Warehouse 13/Leverage (Three formerly great shows that lost the focus. The first two featured the wonderful Jaime Murray, but only Warehouse 13 is surviving on life support.)
6. Ghost Hunters (At this point, anyone with even a slight belief in the paranormal thinks these guys are a bunch of used car salesmen working at a light bulb lot. Besides, after Kris Williams and her puzzling, ever-expanding chest left the show for the equally fake GH International, there really hasn't been much reason to tune in. Besides, Grant leaves to be closer to his piano? Yup, the end is near...)
7. Celebrity Ghost Stories (Really...washed up actors making up shit to get on tv? Talk about the height of absurdity/incredibility.)

And that's about enough putridity to end an evening on. :duh:

Yeah, I try to go with "suspension of disbelief" ( a term I learned in the film industry...LOL!) with that, but it's a stretch. Still, as a work of fiction it's great, and I've always thought Morena Baccarin was hot, but now Claire Daines is workin' for me too... :biggrin:

I boycotted 24 because I kept hearing about torture storylines. I wouldn't usually let the real world impinge on what I watch but the timing of all that was just horribly wrong.
I've had the box sets for the first few seasons sitting there for years, maybe I'll go watch it now.

TV seems to becoming really polarised between total shit and really good.

There has never been so much good drama coming out of the US. There are all sorts of shows like Homeland and Dexter i havent had time to watch.

With TV on demand there is no need to watch the crap.

That show was way before my time. I only started watching it on Antenna TV myself recently. WKRP was one of the most cerebral, too in that before the age of political correctness it took on such social issues as alcoholism, sexism in the workplace, ageism, infidelity and divorce, guns and crime, censorship, unions and even corruption in the music 'biz.' The writing was top notch in that the characters went beyond the usual cliche(s) of insulting each other and there was interest in their personalities which was about as varied as one can get for a show like this. There is no way in today's culture a show like WKRP will ever been seen on prime time again when shit like Big Bang seems to dominate people's decaying intellect. Oh, and that Turkey episode was beyond fucking hilarious!

It's stories like this that make me realize how big your country really is. You have everything...

There are a lot of gypsies in Balkans, but they weren't as "classy" as these in the show. They were pretty much homeless and went through garbage bins. I think they were Romanian. Us kids would always run away when we saw them cause the rumors were that they stole kids and sold them to Italy.

In Scandinavia we have finnish gypsies, who are totally different from the ones on the Balkans. This is how they dress, every day.
I think the whole thing is fascinating. Where they come from, how come they look so different from each other depending on what country they live in cause they don't usually mix with locals. It's so interesting.

Christ, at this rate, we'll all have our own shows on cable, providing we drop our innate sense of self respect. Sheest, my own show on Discovery or The Travel Channel better be centered on pubs, drinking, some food, then going outside to hit a joint or two, and taking in some foot-stomping, occasionally introspective and soul grabbing music offered up by bands that can barely stand up while performing in an inebriated and/or obviously drug-using fashion. All delivered with commentary via an Anthony Bourdain sort of manner. For once, I could show up for work wearing jeans while sporting a non-collared shirt, not take a load of shit for it, and get away with appearing unshaven yet proudly sporting a hangover that would nominally kill most other folks on the planet.

I got mad skills, kids. I'm made for tv. However, I just want my face blurred out in every single frame. Not too much to ask, is it? Cowardice? I don't feel it. Come on, we all need to hold onto our dignity occasionally, don't we? Then again, dignity comes at a calling price for some folks, I guess.

I just watched a dating show with people with any sort of cerebral palsy diagnoses. I LOVED it. They aren't making fun of them or anything, it is a very sweet and warm portrayal.

Then I looked it up and our version is a copy of the one from UK. It's called The Undateables there.

I managed to briefly witnessed two new horrible train wrecks on the Crotch Network last night. One starred Seth Green as a...? I have no idea. 30 seconds into the dialogue I hit the mute and listened to Simple Minds instead. No idea on the plot, character development for I believe this show doesn't possess any. Should be cancelled alone for having Martin Mull walking on set with no fucking shirt on. That image is still giving me nightmares. The other starred that annoying little Jewish shit from SNL who plays a New York cop with just about every other deplorable b-sitcom actor available to embarrass themselves further for b-sitcom actor pay. Hopefully, both will be gone by early October.

I don't know. Maybe these shows are aimed at a younger, "hip" audience coming on the success of my favorite cunt queen Zooey Deschanel and her totally unrealistic and drop-by-drop cliched to death crap she called "New Girl" which is really a modern Mary Tyler Moore with cellphones and poorly written condom jokes. Someone should really tell the suits at Crotch that Zooey was a fluke not a formula so please, no more shows similar, okay?

Not sure I agree with The Big Bang Theory (although it's not as good as it once was.....), but many of the shows mentioned here are terrible.

2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother, and the The Mindy Project are all terrible - it's like a series of jokes not deemed good enough to be used in other sitcoms. New Girl is just.........weird. Almost surreal in places, and with characters so unrealistic you just don't care about them.
