Anybody else enjoying this new HBO show? I guess I shouldn't be surprised since Mike Judge is involved, but it's fucking funny!

It sure is. Damn, Sunday nights are packed. GOT, this, Veep & John Oliver. Can barely keep me sleepy eyes open.

Silicon Valley has a great cast of characters and the main storyline is funny yet believable.

Matt Ross, the guy who played Albie Grant on Big Love, is the perfect computer world, CEO asshole type.

Great series... does somewhat capture the vibe of Silicon Valley back in that era. I believe they set it in the late 80's but it seems more like I experienced the valley in the late 70's early 80's.

By the late 80's Silicon Valley was in a down trend and Silicon Prairie (Austin, Tx) was the hot spot starting up the .com bubble...

Do you mean based it on the 80's? I'm fairly certain it's present day.

From what I read it's based on Mike Judge's experiences when he moved there in 1987... I don't think they've aimed to make any of it "period" centric. But it seems to be slanted that way. It's a very different place today than what it was in the 70's/80's in both business and culture.

If ELVIS dislikes it, it must be a good show.

Keep watching Alex Jones, E! :D

It's good. I like it even more after listening to Judge on Stern last week.

Could you be more specific, late 1870s? :)

Well obviously - you are far too busy for such triviality...

If four or five people are sitting at a breakroom table at work talking about how funny a show is, then one guy walks by and mumbles, "I'll bet that show sucks", does the one guy even have a point? I didn't think so.

If four or five people are sitting at a breakroom table at work talking about how funny a show is...

It's reasonable proof that they're asleep and haven't the faintest idea of what's really going on in the world...;)

Oh FFS. Stop being such an old fart. Sometimes a silly TV show is the perfect remedy for paying too much attention to what's really going on in the world. Live a little ya cranky bastid. :yo:

Live a little ya cranky bastid. :yo:

I have and I'm over it...

I've come to realize that society should be more than an amusement park, filled with tee shirt shops, restaurants and TV...

People are awash in mindless, mind controlling entertainment and it effectively keeps them asleep...

We'll I'm wide awake and enjoying life (and the occasional stupid TV show). Life isn't all doom and gloom, though that was a decent tune by the Stones.
