I'm off to see the funny wee guy tonight and he has the cheek to send me this email.

Dear MR Meister

Coming to a Prince show over the next few days? Please wear something purple!

We also kindly ask you to bring no cameras and to not use your phones to film
or take photos during the concerts. Let's all enjoy the shows through our own
eyes together.

Best regards,

gigsandtours Customer Services

I'm fine with the cameras thing but who is the fucking customer here?

I'll wear a bright pink kilt if I like!

Mate there is a guy that shines a torch at you if you stick your Camera up.
Near the end of the show he says at for not being sad gits and for actually watching and tells you to get your phones out .
Think snaps are okay it's the dickheads who watch the whole show via their phones .
I got some canny pics .
Oh aye he is fucking on fire ..... Just saying :)

Cool!
I occasionally take 1 or 2 pics at a gig if I'm in the front row or for a FB update but that's it.

I hate people who stand there videoing the whole show worst are the iPad people.

Well?

Saw the setlist on the .org, didn't really see any surprises. Complaints of poor sound and missed lighting cues.

It was an amazing gig.

I've seen him 4 or 5 times and I'm struck with the fact that while most of the bands I like seem to get a bit worse each year he gets a bit better.

I guess it helps if you can import a new band whenever you want rather than being reliant on the addictions of your guitarist or whatever.

The sound comment makes no sense to me at all. It was literally the best sound I have ever heard at a gig and people I talked to all commented on that.

He's been like that for a while now, he's a much better player now than he was back in the 80s and the days of that horrible buzzy guitar sound.

No my opinion is he is all of the above and probably the most talented musical person who I have come across in the last blah many years . Though I concede even I don't like all his material it does not distract from the talent aspect of it for me .
But go on I don't buy into these I could persuade you if I was to bombard you with facts and figures posts .

You still mention Hagar to much tho :)

I saw Rick Springfield once. Only went there to check out the chicks but he was surprisingly good in concert. The music he played fit in well with his soap opera star image. If he'd have tried to play harder rock the milf's wouldn't have bought his records or gone to his concerts.

To be fair Springfield started in music before he was ever a soap actor.

For a while back in the day I liked the 'Living in Oz' album.

Years later I was disgusted to find out he sang a Hagar song...

When I first heard of him he was Linda Blair's boyfriend. I thought Hagar sang a Sprinfield song until I read that post.

Believe it or not, Rick Springfield was actually a legitimate rock musician once. And it was long before the Jesse's Girl/General Hospital era.....

This is probably the only time in history that a Beatles cover was better than the original.

The incredible bullshitting man going on about it being #1 all over the world when in fact

"I've Done Everything for You"
Australia #31
Canada #40
US #8
UK Didn't chart

It was Springfield's self penned previous single 'Jessie's Girl' that was the big #1 hit so in many ways the Hagar song was pretty unsuccessful for Springfield.

Sesh, let's recap.

In this thread, you've talked about Prince, Rick Springfield, General Hospital and you post a Clichegar video.

You are officially one of Spammy's Redheads. A gay one at that.

Did anyone see that Dave Grohl movie, Sound City? I thought it was a reasonably good documentary about a recording studio and some of the records that had been made there (and Dave Grohl rescuing the studio console from the scrapheap, etc etc).

Anyway, I was a bit surprised that Rick Springfield was one of the guys who performs with Grohl and his band in the studio (which is where he cut some of his hits, I think), just 'cos I always thought he was perceived as the ultimate in uncool.

Of course, the fucker - Springfield - is probably hitting 60 and he looks about 35 in the film. Bastard! On the other hand, it probably means that his stardom years were a bit vanilla ...
