When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data.

A scene from 'The Day After Tomorrow': in reality, officially approved scientists fudge the data

There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data, shows it to have been warming at a rate equivalent to more than 3 degrees centigrade per century.

When I first began examining the global-warming scare, I found nothing more puzzling than the way officially approved scientists kept on being shown to have finagled their data, as in that ludicrous “hockey stick” graph, pretending to prove that the world had suddenly become much hotter than at any time in 1,000 years. Any theory needing to rely so consistently on fudging the evidence, I concluded, must be looked on not as science at all, but as simply a rather alarming case study in the aberrations of group psychology.

The Copenhagen summit fell apart because evidence of climate data fudging came out. I mean rating bonds is scientific. Some of the most trusted names in the ratings industry got caught fudging data for the big corporations and banks. Anyone can be bribed and/or threatened. Academics are not immune.

There seems to be a trend of using mass media to convince the masses something is true that really isn't. This trend started when only a few companies now own the mass media. In short. People and institutions we should trust are proving themselves to be untrustworthy. If anything, the western world suffers from chronic corruption right now. Everything seems to be a scam these days. The trust is gone and only a fool blindly trusts anymore.

Well, that sucks.

I realize that for most people, this is just an "I'm right & you're not" game, just like everything else, really.

Noone really cares about global warming or climate change. They just want the satisfaction of being right.

I hope Sesh is different. I respect the guy's opinion, even if I like to get his goat. Alot.

You know, alot of people who take the "Earth Defender" stance are probably hoping disaster strikes, just so they can rub it in our faces that they were right. They probably have wet dreams of us crawling in front of them to beg their forgiveness.

Well, if the shit hits the fan, I'll just ask "Hey, you guys were the majority. How come you've done nothing to avoid this? Oh, that's right, you were too busy trying to be right on the internet to actually DO something."

Yep, THAT is my wet dream. :yo:

We had this thread just a few weeks ago, I posted an impartial documentary which explained where and how the climate scientists fucked up back in the 70s/80s leading to climate change denial. It then showed how much more evidence we have now.

ELVIS just ignored it all saying it was made up lies and couldn't or wouldn't engage with any of the points.

It's completely pointless debating with him on this.

Now he starts yet another thread and calls me a liar? Pushing his luck...

It's not pointless...

Make a logical argument...

You just throw out data that's incorrect, say it's not open for debate, and say there's an overwhelming consensus that agree, and therefore it's somehow settled...

Saying that the science of something like the atmosphere, with all of it's variables, is settled, is both unsceintific and arrogant...

It's also dishonest...

Science constantly disproves itself as knowledge increases...

Man doesn't know everything abut the planet and God constantly proves him wrong...

I'd care, if that'd make a difference, but even recycling is just a business where big corporations pick & choose what's profitable or not.

If someone's got a plan to wipe out the big corpos, I'm listening. Then we can work our way down on major issues. Until then. it's as pointless as trying to tell people about the moon landing hoax. We can talk 'til we're blue in the face, will it really, truly matter? The world won't change a bit.

Other than for entertainment, I don't see why people get so worked up over this stuff. Then again, people get insanely worked up about a football match, so... mass hysteria isn't really a reliable way to attribute importance to stuff.

We all should know this...it's a natural part of the life of the planet...

No computer models showing global warming have been accurate...None, look it up...

And there's no clear evidence to blame man on climate change...

Also, the science is geared and funded towards proving a theory, which goes against the true scientific method of trying to disprove a theory...

Breitbart (http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/06/23/Global-warming-Fabricated-by-NASA-and-NOAA)

Scientists at two of the world’s leading climate centres - NASA and NOAA - have been caught out manipulating temperature data to overstate the extent of the 20th century "global warming."

http://stevengoddard.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/high-low-temps-figure1-2014.png?w=640

The evidence of their tinkering can clearly be seen at Real Science, where blogger Steven Goddard has posted a series of graphs which show "climate change" before and after the adjustments.

http://stevengoddard.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/1998changesannotated.gif?w=500&h=355

When the raw data is used, there is little if any evidence of global warming and some evidence of global cooling. However, once the data has been adjusted - ie fabricated by computer models - 20th century 'global warming' suddenly looks much more dramatic.

This is especially noticeable on the US temperature records. Before 2000, it was generally accepted - even by climate activists like NASA's James Hansen - that the hottest decade in the US was the 1930s.

As Hansen himself said in a 1989 report:

In the U.S. there has been little temperature change in the past 50 years, the time of rapidly increasing greenhouse gases — in fact, there was a slight cooling throughout much of the country.

However, Hansen subsequently changed his tune when, sometime after 2000, the temperatures were adjusted to accord with the climate alarmists' fashionable "global warming" narrative. By cooling the record-breaking year of 1934, and promoting 1998 as the hottest year in US history, the scientists who made the adjustments were able suddenly to show 20th century temperatures shooting up - where before they looked either flat or declining.

But as Goddard notes, the Environmental Protection Agency's heatwave record makes a mockery of these adjustments. It quite clearly shows that the US heat waves of the 1930s were of an order of magnitude greater than anything experienced at any other time during the century - far more severe than those in the 1980s or 1990s which were no worse than those in the 1950s.

These adjustments, however, are not limited to the US temperature data sets. Similar fabrications have taken place everywhere from Iceland to Australia.

The fact that supposedly reputable scientists can make these dishonest adjustments and get away with it is, notes long-time sceptic Christopher Booker, one of the more remarkable anomalies of the great climate change scam.

Daily Caller (http://dailycaller.com/2014/06/30/noaa-quietly-reinstates-july-1936-as-the-hottest-month-on-record/)

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, criticized for manipulating temperature records to create a warming trend, has now been caught warming the past and cooling the present.

July 2012 became the hottest month on record in the U.S. during a summer that was declared “too hot to handle” by NASA scientists. That summer more than half the country was experiencing drought and wildfires had scorched more than 1.3 million acres of land, according to NASA.

According to NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in 2012, the “average temperature for the contiguous U.S. during July was 77.6°F, 3.3°F above the 20th century average, marking the warmest July and all-time warmest month on record for the nation in a period of record that dates back to 1895.”

“The previous warmest July for the nation was July 1936, when the average U.S. temperature was 77.4°F,” NOAA said in 2012.

This statement by NOAA was still available on their website when checked by The Daily Caller News Foundation. But when meteorologist and climate blogger Anthony Watts went to check the NOAA data on Sunday he found that the science agency had quietly reinstated July 1936 as the hottest month on record in the U.S.

“Two years ago during the scorching summer of 2012, July 1936 lost its place on the leaderboard and July 2012 became the hottest month on record in the United States,” Watts wrote. “Now, as if by magic, and according to NOAA’s own data, July 1936 is now the hottest month on record again. The past, present, and future all seems to be ‘adjustable’ in NOAA’s world.”

WASHINGTON, June 27, 2014 (http://www.commdiginews.com/environment/hank-paulsons-new-wall-street-push-for-carbon-tax-racket-20403/) — Former Bush Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson wrote in the New York Times on Sunday, seeking to jump start another crusade for the imposition of carbon taxes in America.

http://www.commdiginews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/money-laundering1.jpg

“It’s true that the United States can’t solve this problem alone. But we’re not going to be able to persuade other big carbon polluters to take the urgent action that’s needed if we’re not doing everything we can do to slow our carbon emissions and mitigate our risks.”

He equates CO2 emissions with bubbles – in this case, financial bubbles, like those that led to the 2008 global economic meltdown. The analogy presumes that without the incentive of carbon taxes and government coercion, consumers and producers will not, of their own initiative, take measures to reduce emissions. But the sales pitch Paulson employs has an odd ring to it. He contends that Carbon taxes are consistent with “conservatism.”

“The solution can be a fundamentally conservative one that will empower the marketplace to find the most efficient response. We can do this by putting a price on emissions of carbon dioxide — a carbon tax.”

Empowering the marketplace in any conservative frame of reference would not involve imposing mandates, any more than empowering consumers seeking more affordable healthcare, requires a penalty for not participating in the insurance market. Paulson is not recognized in “conservative” circles other than among globalists and neo-cons. And it follows that he’s partnering on this campaign with such renowned “conservatives” as billionaires Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg.

To Paulson, carbon taxes are the new flavor of the month and a lot of people have never heard of them before. George Soros and Al Gore would be surprised at that notion. Soros has funneled money to global warming propaganda mongers and Al Gore has been burning fossil fuel since he left the White House, instilling fear about the imminent threat to the planet. Gore and Soros indulge in extravagant, wasteful lifestyles while they preach to others about relatively modest consumption habits.

Paulson’s message isn’t really intended for American citizens. It’s a call to corporations and financial houses to take another run at Congress to compel them to impose another in a long series of wealth redistribution schemes. Why? Because there’s gold in them hills. The carbon tax has already demonstrated itself elsewhere to be a very lucrative commodities market that yields profits for investors, traders and banks, while picking the pockets of consumers. That is, at least, until the general public got a glimpse into how global warming sausage is made, when, among other events, Climategate erupted.

You may recall that scientists at the Hadley Climatic Research Unit at Britain’s University of East Anglia were caught manipulating data for the creation of the notorious “hockey stick” — a clever illustration of erroneous conclusions about weather patterns late in the previous century.

An earlier iteration of the “hockey stick” of Michael E. Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University was found to be seriously flawed due to the omission — seemingly deliberate, of a large body of data relating to at least two major climate events, the Little Ice Age and the Medieval Warming Period. These change the whole complexion of Mann and his colleague’s arguments. It’s a glaring omission when you leave out events like the Thames River icing over in the 15th Century and a significant warming trend lasting between AD 950 to 1250, a period in which there were no coal fired power plants or manufacturing.

Then, another flood of emails found CRU scientists and Mann, grousing about the lack of actual climate evidence to support their projections, discussing tactics to manipulate research and plotting to censor and ostracize critics. In 2007, before Climategate, polls indicated 84 percent of Americans believed humans contributed to global warming. Here in 2014, Americans show a burn out factor indicative of their sense that man made warming has been artificially hyped.

A recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll revealed only 27 percent of Americans believe addressing global warming is an “absolute priority”, while 41 percent say that stemming rising temperatures “can be delayed until next year.” In this and other polls conducted by Pew Research, a third of the respondents don’t believe any government action is warranted at all.

The cumulative publicity discrediting global warming alarmists, saw carbon credits crater in value. Larry Bell, writing in Forbes, notes that between May 2008 and October of 2009 the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) value for one metric ton of carbon plummeted from $7 per metric ton to $0.10 along with the shareholders’ investments. Losers included Ford Motor Company, Amtrak, DuPont, Dow Corning, American Electric Power, International Paper, Waste Management, the states of Illinois and New Mexico, seven cities, and a number of universities.

Now the same players with Paulson leading the charge are gearing up to take another run at what Lord Christopher Monckton calls the “greatest wealth transfer scheme in history, a Robin Hood in reverse.” Paulson, first a champion of Cap-and-trade, now favors carbon taxes.

What can be expected from carbon taxation is illustrated by the experience of Australia, which recently implemented carbon taxation. The Australian reports that the $1,350 average tax on each household for the year to Sept 2013, produced an emissions fall from 543.9 million tons down to 542.1. Not a dramatic return on $7 billion in taxes on consumers.

The question on a lot of minds is what is the difference between “cap and trade” and carbon taxes. A basic illustration of cap and trade, is a power plant or manufacturer in the United States, for example, that has maxed out on its capability to reduce carbon emissions would purchase $8 million worth of carbon credits from a factory in China and the Chinese factory, in theory, would then spend the $8 million in upgrading technology to reduce emissions. That is a global cap and trade system.

By contrast, federal lawmakers and the White House have proposed unilateral domestic cap and trade schemes. The EPA analyzed a cap-and-trade proposal and projected global CO2 concentrations in a baseline. The administrator of the EPA testified on July 7, 2009: “I believe the central parts of the [EPA] chart are that U.S. action alone will not impact world CO2 levels.”

Translate that to mean that as a problem solving tool, the market brokerage of carbon is gesture legislation. It provides the satisfaction of claiming something is being done, but the effects on the alleged problem are negligible. Derrick Morgan, a policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation concludes that:

A carbon tax would (1) do next to nothing to lower global temperature, (2) harm American manufacturing competitiveness, (3) create a new revenue stream based on behavior modification, and (4) harm low-income Americans. Energy supplies can be delivered and new supplies created through the private sector rather than through mandates, regulations, taxes, and subsidies ordered by government.

Heritage, the National Association of Manufacturers and the National Black Chamber of Commerce sponsored studies revealing that the impact on workers in America would be dramatic, costing the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs. All this before any genuine consensus has been arrived at on the question of whether man made GHG (greenhouse gas) even has a direct correlation to global warming.

In Australia, where carbon taxes were imposed, Graham Lloyd, of The Australian, wrote, “Australia’s peak body of earth scientists has declared itself unable to publish a position statement on climate change due to the deep divisions within its membership on the issue. After more than five years of debate and two false starts, Geological Society of Australia president Laurie Hutton said “a statement on climate change was too difficult to achieve.”

Carbon taxes will make already unaffordable energy even more prohibitive for Americans because presently, most energy is produced by fossil fuels. Taxes inevitably get passed on to consumers.

What about the “revenue neutral” argument that government would offset revenue increases by lowering business taxes? That’s yet another government promise. Remember the others about “if you like your health plan you can keep it”, etc.? When was the last time politicians surrendered revenue once they got their hands on it?

In California, state gas taxes are 54.5 cents, which added to the federal per gallon tax, raises the taxes on each gallon to 70 cents. Local and state governments cannot control spending, so these taxes are siphoned off for purposes other than roads and transportation. But state lawmakers are complaining about budget shortfalls and they want even more. “The states consider themselves, in general, to be horribly besieged budgetarily and aren’t talking about anything to reduce revenue from any source,” observes the Tax Foundation’s William Ahern. Carbon tax will be no different.

In any event, if you are pinning your hopes of management of carbon emissions on Hank Paulson, you might want to reconsider. This is the fellow that sold us on the notion that he had to provide liquidity to the nation’s failing banks via bailouts, so that the credit clog would get broken up. Then he hooked a pipeline up that pumped into Wall Street and little to none to Main Street.

In carbon taxes, we see more government for the rich and by the rich. Can you afford more of that?

It's laughable that people actually think giving big corporations and governments more tax money will change the climate. Most western governments can't even run themselves and most big corporations are ran by a colluded group of corporate gangsters. Honestly people. Do you think a bunch of incompetents and criminals are going to make any kind of difference?

All while people are starting to protest their governments in the streets over austerity measures, someone is trying to push the world into war (Eastern Europe, The Middle East, and the relations of China and Japan are all volatile).

The west can't even make a banking system work decent and it's going to save the world? What a joke.

Eric Worrall (http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/07/12/coldest-antarctic-june-ever-recorded/)

Antarctica continues to defy the global warming script, with a report from Meteo France, that June this year was the coldest Antarctic June ever recorded, at the French Antarctic Dumont d’Urville Station.

According to the press release, during June this year, the average temperature was -22.4c (-8.3F), 6.6c (11.9F) lower than normal. This is the coldest June ever recorded at the station, and almost the coldest monthly average ever – only September 1953 was colder, with a recorded average temperature of -23.5c (-10.3F).

June this year also broke the June daily minimum temperature record, with a new record low of -34.9c (-30.8F).

Other unusual features of the June temperature record are an unusual excess of sunlight hours (11.8 hours rather than the normal 7.4 hours), and unusually light wind conditions.

Dumont d’Urville Station has experienced ongoing activity since 1956. According to the Meteo France record, there is no other weather station for 1000km in any direction.

BBC (http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-28199131)

Climate change is "the biggest crisis our civilisation faces", says former US Vice President Al Gore.

http://modernwealthmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/al-gore-warming.jpg

Mr Gore sat down with the BBC's Jon Donnison in Australia, where his organisation, The Climate Reality Project, was holding training sessions to educate future leaders in the fight against climate change.

Australia's conservative Prime Minister Tony Abbott is viewed by many as a climate change sceptic and once described the science behind human-induced global warming as "absolute crap".

"We're way past time where it's responsible for any national leader to reject the science behind the climate crisis," Mr Gore said.

Eight years after he released the film An Inconvenient Truth, Mr Gore said we have come a long way in awareness of global warming, but there is still much more to be done to find solutions.

I'm getting tired of rich fucks flying in private jets, who own several homes larger than they need, and drive around in large luxury vehicles telling us wasting energy is destroying the planet. I'm especially tired of presidents who fly on Air Force One and Marine One on our tab that say burning fossil fuels is going to destroy the earth. Ok. Then ground the aircraft and ride in a kevlar protected peddi cab. Have the Secret Service peddle if for you.

It gets my goat. People claiming how awful I am for not being concerned about this bullshit.

Well, they may be concerned, but they're not doing anything about it either.

So, just being concerned is enough to make you a better person than me? I suppose I can just stab someone, but I'll feel really sorry while I'm doing it. I guess that'll get me off the hook.

Cheers! :beers:

If everybody wants to save the motherfucking earth right now then I can tell them what they need to do.

Take an ax and go outside and chop your power line in two. Just chop that fucker slap in two. Now, you got no power. You just saved all kinds of planet loving shit right there.

Second - set your cars on fire. Just burn em down. And when the guys from the fire house show up - hold them back. You just saved all kinds of shit that's good for the planet. I know, we're burning all sorts of hydrocarbons that could be recycled and shit but who cares? We're going for maximum impact.

Now - shove your smart phones up your butts. That's right. Just shove em right up your poop chutes. That way none of the harmful chemicals and shit will get into the earth until you D I E. And never, if you can afford a grave liner.

Next, after you get done shoving shit up your butt, eat every single thing in your house. Just eat it all. Kill anybody who tries to stop you. Yes, kill them. It will become very painful and pretty much impossible after like a spoon or two but do your best. We have to save this motherfucking planet so don't give up.

Lastly, if you have no desire or you have sense enough to know that you can't fix the environment all alone, or as part of a collective...TURN OFF YOUR GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING COMPUTERS!!! You bullshit motherfuckers sit here online every day and try to tell me I'm killing the planet and yet every fucking time I check this place out you are still here telling me that I'm killing the planet?? Good luck finding a quality lay with no electricity, air conditioning, hot and cold running water and a flushing toilet. Go to a big fancy casino on an indian reservation and go up to one of the cute native american women that work there. Tell them you want to go back to nature and live in a wigwam. Tell them you want a native girl who understands. They will tell you to fuck off. The reservation is finally doing well. They have money and she just bought a new car.

I'm sorry Vandy, I truly am. You're right, of course. It's just that it gets old after a while.

Imagine you have a leaky faucet. You can't mend it, so you call your know-it-all neighbour for help. He tells you the faucet is NOT leaking. So, you ask another neighbour for help & he'll agree that the faucet is leaking. The know-it-all will tell the newcomer that the faucet is not leaking, so nothing should be done. Then you call another neighbour, who agrees that the faucet is indeed leaking, but the know-it -all will still claim it's not.

Rinse, repeat.

Pretty soon, you'll have 99 people arguing with the know-it-all. Meanwhile, the faucet is still leaking, the hours drag on, discussion is more heated than ever, you've got charts all over your kitchen, test tubes in the living room, laptops scattered around the house with everybody coming up with undeniable proof that the faucet is leaking, yet not one fucking iota of brain power has been devoted to fixing the fucking problem.

Sure, plumbing is not their speciality, but you can't tell me that among all those brainiacs, none of them can come up with a solution.

It's enough to make you run them all off your property with a shotgun.

Praise the South, goddammit.

There seems to be a cycle of fuck ups.

Now we are gloriously fucked up and have technology to do more damage than ever. Instead of a flood the earth will be cleansed with fire. Jesus saves the ones who didn't fuck up too much and finally says "You people are too fucked. I'm running things now. Well at least for a thousand years."

How rich corporations manipulate the weak minded...

Who is Marc Morano?

Marc Morano, the executive director of ClimateDepot.com, is one of climate denial's most prolific media-heads. In 2012, Morano was named the Climate Change Misinformer of the Year by conservative watchdog group Media Matters for America.

ClimateDepot, who's sole purpose is to spread misinformation about climate change, is a project of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), a conservative think tank which has received funding from ExxonMobil, Chevron, and foundations which challenge climate science.

Morano is considered a central player in orchestrating the Climategate scandal. Weeks before the 2009 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, a hacker stole a large amount of files, including private data and emails, from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia. The data was then shared with climate skeptics, including Morano. These skeptics went on to cherry-pick information and sound bites from the emails in an effort to indict climate scientists for deliberately manipulating data and misleading the public.

In less than 48 hours, Climategate became the top story in international news. During the scandal, Morano said, "I seriously believe we should kick them [climate scientists] while they're down. They deserve to be publicly flogged." Multiple independent investigations have found no fraudulent activity, and all of the scientists have since been exonerated. Climategate helped seed doubt in public opinion leading up to the biggest climate negotiations in world history.

Prior to running ClimateDepot, Morano served as the communications director for Senator James Inhofe from 2006 to 2009. During his tenure, Morano helped author the infamous report "More Than 700 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims." The report was debunked. Research found the list contained at least 84 signees had taken industry money, 49 retirees, 20 economists, and 70 with no expertise in climate science.

Despite having no credentials in climate science -- Morano holds a B.A. in political science -- he is touted as a climate change expert and makes frequent public appearances on conservative media outlets such as Fox News and the Rush Limbaugh Show. The Heartland Institute lists Morano as an expert, and he frequently speaks at their annual climate change conference.

Over the years, he has filled the airways with extraordinary and unfounded claims. Most recently, Morano said climate change predictions were failing, comparing them to "medieval witchcraft, where we used to blame witches for controlling the weather."

Media Matters has a stellar compendium of his most grievous accusations against climate science.

Forgive me if I'm reading this wrong, as I am not exactly 100% sober right now, but are you implying that governments should subsidize your fuel?

Well, I'm not sure how it works there, but judging by the way they do it HERE, the one thing you don't want - as usual - is the government interfering.

Because here, the government has its paw on fuels, but rather than subsidize them, it double taxes them.

So, you might want to look for a better, government-free alternative. The only one I can think of is fill up & run. I'm not saying it works, I'm just saying it seems to be the most viable solution.

In five months since the drought emergency was declared, Californians have cut their water consumption only 5 percent compared with recent years, according to state officials — a far cry from the 20 percent that Gov. Jerry Brown called for in January.

'I've been banned by the BBC!': Ex-Chancellor Lord Lawson, a passionate climate change sceptic, accuses BBC bosses of silencing debate on global warming

Over the years, both in and out of government, I have frequently been invited to appear on BBC radio’s flagship Today programme, usually to discuss economic issues.

But despite the fact that I had written a thoroughly well-documented book about global warming (An Appeal To Reason), which happily became something of a best-seller, and the following year founded a think-tank, the Global Warming Policy Foundation (which is advised by a number of eminent scientists), I was never invited on Today to discuss any aspect of climate change.

That was until earlier this year, when I was asked on to discuss the recent bad weather, which had caused widespread flooding in parts of England, the extent to which this may have been connected with man-made climate change, and what should be done about it.

My opposite number was the scientist Sir Brian Hoskins. It was an appropriate pairing, since Sir Brian is no remote and unworldly academic: he is chairman of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change, a lavishly-funded alarmist pressure group, and a member of the Government-appointed Climate Change Committee, which exists chiefly to promote the abandonment of fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) by the UK.

It was a thoroughly civilised discussion, ably refereed by presenter Justin Webb. Following the programme, on February 13, all hell broke loose.

The BBC was overwhelmed by a well-organised deluge of complaints — many of them, inevitably, from those with a commercial interest in renewable energy, as well as from the Green Party — arguing that, since I was not myself a scientist, I should never have been allowed to appear.

What I'm saying is that governments subsidise fuel to fuck at the moment.

They subsidise the fossil fuel industries and in the US in particular where politics is super money driven for each million given in campaign contributions by an Exxon translates into ten times as much back in subsidies for the oil industry. This is an impossible barrier to market entry for new power sources.

Simultaneously as they pay for the politicians they also throw a few million here and there to people to set up 'think tanks' and websites to muddy the waters and confuse the issues.

Allow me to pick one particular sentence out of your post, Sesh.

This is an impossible barrier to market entry for new power sources.

Well, DUH!

What the hell have I been saying all along? There won't be any alternatives until the ALLOW it. So, stop worrying. Short of a massacre like the French revolution, you're not gonna get anything out of your worries.

I'm all for guillotining the entire political class, bankers & CEOs, though. Someone get the ball rolling, I have a particular politician that I want for myself...

FORD

No, actually the Founding Fathers wanted exactly the opposite. They didn't even want a standing army HERE, let alone military bases all over the world, in countries where the wars ended half a century ago.

That's where that whole 2nd Amendement thing came in. The important part was actually the "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state". The "keep and bear arms" part was so that militia could be called up if and when needed, if there was a threat to the country. It wasn't about taking your AR-15 to the local fast food joint and scaring the shit out of everybody.

This right wing moronic jackass has a new conspiracy theory about Global Climate Change. It's not the corporations causing pollution that's the problem. It's the world refusing to support NuttyYahoo and the Likud Zionfascist agenda to "restore" Israel to it's "proper" Nile to the Euphrates borders established by God Himself way back in the book of Genesis.........

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOj9UxMX2rQ

Of course, the right wing moronic jackass fails to realize that God's little talk with Abraham took place before he had ANY children, and also included the part where God told Abe he would be the father of MANY nations, and that the borders He described were to be the land for ALL of Abe's descendants, and not just the one branch of the family tree..

But then, that would require this moron to actually READ his Bible, which he probably has never done.

I suspect there are very few of us here who dont either work for a living now or will work for a living in the future. Having to work to earn the money to pay your bills, rent, mortgage whatever defines you as working class. I don't think there are that many of us living off a parental allowance/trust fund/royal list that would put us out of that field. But I could be wrong.

Gregory, ye knoweth that it is written that a foolish man build his house upon the sand. But verily I say unto you that it is just as foolish for a man to build his house upon a swamp, below sea level, and then deny the facts when the learned men of science tell you what is happening, and what will happen, based on logical reason and analysis.

It is foolish for a man to deny science, particularly when he drags My name into his denial. For nowhere in My gospel did I ever tell anybody to deny reality.
