You mean the writers make it up as it goes & then it'll end up abruptly, & everyone who watched it for 10 years will be royally pissed?

I'll do like I did with Lost, then... I'll wait for the final episode & watch the whole ten years in one hour. :D

10:1 next post will derail this thread permanently!

Cheers! :beers:

Just as long as you don't listen to Pleasure Dome. Please. Van Hagar was lame and Sammy is a fag.

Aliens fucked Adam and Eve's children. Makes sense. That would explain the black people now.

Well! You leave the jammies out of this & I'll hop on a plane & go watch it with you!

I'm watching the first episode right now. Just like Stephen King, not 10 minutes in & a whole bunch of characters has been introduced. If it all goes according to plan, they'll all have most of their stories fleshed out before long, with a few dark secrets hinted at.

The beginnings of King's adaptations all have the same mood, & I'm not complaining. "The Mist" still haunts my dreams every now & then.

Cheers! :beers:

I am. The cow being cut in half was brilliant! Classic King humour.

And in 10 minutes, the scene is set. Mood just like "The Mist", "Storm of the Century", "Maximum Overdrive", "The Langoliers", etc...

I'm in for the ride. Thanks for the heads up, Q!

Cheers! :beers:

How many seasons in is it? Can it be binge-watched on Netflix?

The second season just started. Three episodes in, I think. Season one is included in Amazon Prime. Last I looked it wasn't on Netflix, but it may be now.

I would advise against binge watching.

King's strength lies in his characters & VERY subtle humour. The story is always secondary. Sometimes, even not important at all.

If you watch the whole thing through, you won't be able to notice all the nuances & quirks of every character.

I'll be watching the second tonight & will go through one a day, that's just over two weeks. Quite manageable.

Although I have to say that some characters on the first episode weren't really up to par with King's other stuff. I hope there's an explanation why all the women in town are hitting on the strong, silent guy within 2 seconds of knowing him.

I can see how the girl would do that, but the news reporter is genuinely shocked when it's implied her husband is cheating on her. It doesn't add up that she'd be so chummy with a guy that just dropped out of nowhere, unless she's one of those clueless hypocrites that are so dumb they don't realize what they're doing. Again, she seems to be smart, so it doesn't add up.

Nitpicking, you say? Looking too much into characters in a TV series? Well, as a long time fan of King, I've been spoiled... & while I can overlook the blaring inconsistencies of every other author out there, I demand my Stephie to be absolutely perfect.

Or maybe it was Spielberg's doing. Yeah, Steven "Come Probe Me, PLEASE!" Spielberg will be my scapegoat for any inconsistencies, however minor, on this series.

I'm still pissed off at him for ruining the end of "The Dig", with the alien stating that "the human race is so strong & young & we can learn alot from you". Keep your fucking wet dreams to yourself, jackass!

And don't get me started on the Crystal Skull. Another amazing journey abruptly ruined right at the very end.

Fuck you, Spielberg. Seriously. I wish Madoff had sent him to the poor house.

Cheers! :beers:

Wait til you get to the episode that King wrote himself AND has a cameo in it. ;)

I just, right now, finished the second episode.

It's really hard to keep myself from watching another one this instant.

Barbie is still a chick magnet, but that's ok.

Man, Stephie can really write the lunatics. Junior is goddamned fucking creepy.

Aaaaand someone snaps. Another typical move by the Kingmeister, but it always works. This one wasn't as believable though, as the timing just wasn't quite right. I blame Spielberg.

Cheers! :beers:

He always does a cameo. Well, except for The Shining. He didn't like that film.

I loved it.

10:1 it's a funny cameo.

Cheers! :beers:

Funny you should mention Dwight. So many of my friends are into this shitty new school rockin' country that makes me wanna puke. I tell'em the only country I can tolerate is Dwight Yoakam and they're all like, "who da fuck izzat?" His stuff with Pete Anderson is pretty bitchin'.

Just finished Season 1.

Man, I really liked Max. What a grate character. So deliciously evil. And goddamned SMOKIN' to boot. I wouldn't mind a few rolls in the hay with that one. But all that time inside the dome & nobody knowing is a bit of a stretch, not to say impossible. I blame Spielberg.

Anyways, "Big Jim" is one of the best characters out there. What an amazing, multi-layered fucking son of a bitch. He reminds me of a certain mod that "loved this place so much", it wouldn't hesitate to "kill" anyone who crossed its path, just for a quick power trip. I hope they die slowly & painfully.

King comes through again.

This is reminding me more & more of Twin Peaks. It's definitely heading in that direction. I hope it doesn't end without ending, too.

Cheers! :beers:
