Is this true?

http://pitchfork.com/news/56584-the-replacements-to-play-fallon-almost-30-years-after-getting-banned-from-snl/

If so, this has to be the 'Please To Meet Me' line up of circa 1987 Westerclusterfuck, Stintson and Chris Mars. No Slim Whatshisface.

No reason for this other than "redemption? No news on any proper Replacements remasters or, perhaps, a new studio recording? Paul knows better then to fuck with his fans.

Just Westerberg and Stinson now, far as I know. I think they've got Josh Freese on drums and some other guy on guitar.

Chris Mars is a painter now or something.

Who, and who, and who?

The goddamned 'Mats, that's who!

Not the best quality footage here, but a good performance.... probably because it was a soundcheck and they weren't drunk yet http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/teufel/d025.gif

Well it's official now. Westerdrunk is now just another nostalgia touring act. Fucker might was well open up for Journey, Styx and that shitty Jason Bonham Schepply dog and pony show. I will say for a man well into his 50's WesterJew looked damned good - he could pass for 30.

A band of drunks has to play some goddamned HANK!!

Note at the end there, Paul says "Husker Du are next". Goddamn, what a Hell of a double bill that was.

Hopefully somebody filmed this entire show - both bands, and it's out there in bootleg land somewhere.....

Westerturd does look good - even if he forgets that words from time to time

I've gone to all of Westerberg's solo shows here. Once, during Alex Chilton, he said "I never travel far without a little...Ryan Adams." I think they were sniping at each other at the time.

I remember when the 'Mats opened for Elvis Costello. When they came out, Stinson goes up to the mic and says "at least we don't have to listen to Free Fallin'." I had seen them open for Tom Petty a year or so before. We didn't stick around to see Costello.

AND Westerberg made Billy Joe Armstrong an honorary member of the Replacements. I was glad to see he wasn't on last night.

I saw Costello at Red Rocks back in 2008(?) when he was an opening act for The Police. Tickets were going for @$180/piece to see Sting make a ass of himself but I went as a guest of Lucent Technologies (long story). Anyway, Costello was dull. And I do mean dull. Even when he tried to pull out his bag of tricks of doing his more punkish stint only did he become a parody of himself. Costello's voice is shot. If you ever been to a Red Rocks show the sound there is beyond crystal clear and to listen to Costello sing like that was just painful. It was worse when him and Sting did an encore of Alison upon which Sting could not remember the words. These fucking greedy aging rock stars, they all need to quietly retire.

I sat through Costello opening for the Stones. Maybe the Licks tour in '02. Very meh.

We were fortunate (?) enough to see Sting's kid open for the Police in '07. Beyond meh.

Oh, and I did see Westerdull a few years ago when he was in his "recovering from alcoholism/introspective" mindset. He had a couch on stage with him inviting girls to come up and sit as he slurred song after song to them. Just pathetic.

I seem to remember a solo acoustic tour? We didn't get the couch though. Did talk to him after a show once, got some CD's signed, talked a little about vintage guitars. He always brings the best beat up shit out on tour.

Fortunately for her, Pattie was a model, so she had some good genetics to not end up looking like her dad.
