I get my information from people who have lived and live in Syria. None are fans of Assad but he's better than the alternative. The main value Syria has is it's prime real estate for oil and gas pipelines to Europe which desperately needs another supply other than Russia. So lets finance some Wahabi assholes to act like pirates and sure make them believe they are starting a caliphate but then hey, once they open the door, mow them over and go for the Syrian regime change. Of course there is risk of bumping heads with Russia again but this seems to be the current game.

The main problem is Israel is a theocracy. It's a jewish state. Just look at the flag. What you do is make Israel and all inclusive state instead. There have always been jews living there.
